LordUrban got a reaction from TheGoldfinch in Goldfinch's Rebel Gallery (11/03)
I’m going to be taking inspiration from Kota’s militia. I’ll be using the normal trooper bodies, shapeways fleet helmets and throwing on some pauldrons and pouches.

Fleet troopers ready to defend some corridors on a blockade runner.
Quite happy with this lot.

Rebel specialists done*! I tried getting the look of the officers from RotJ, as the clothes seemed to match their longer tunics.
*The R5 is still in progress, getting paint stripped again. This time, I think I have the right paintjob in mind...

R5 astromech done! The freehand turned out a bit wobbly, especially on the front, but overall, I'm pleased.

Wow, this thing took way too long to paint, considering how much free time I've had on my hands.
Pleased with the results though, especially the squadron markings 🙂
Next up, 1.4 FD laser cannon, with trooper crew

Dish turret done. The crew proved trickier than expected to convert, but it was a lot of fun to paint

Off the top of my head, the Wookiees had colonized the moon Alaris Prime in the Kashyyyk system.

These are the only two which I am aware of...

LordUrban reacted to TheGoldfinch in Looking for fleet trooper helmet headswaps
Thought I'd share some mediocre, harshly lit pics of the results of the headswaps
The neckseams aren't perfect on some of the troopers, but overall I am happy with the results!

LordUrban got a reaction from twincast in What Factions do you think should be next?
The scale of Legion has a couple dozen fighters per side for most games. What would likely be classified as a platoon level game. Galaxy spanning crime syndicates could easily muster forces of that size.

LordUrban got a reaction from twincast in What Factions do you think should be next?
Scum and Villainy for sure. It should include sub factions like the Hutt Cartel, Black Sun, Zann Consortium. Along with native factions like Tusken Raiders.

I'd love if they just went to **** with it and did old republic factions. It would be fantastic

LordUrban reacted to TauntaunScout in What makes Legion better?
The Star Wars figures. I probably own around a dozen miniature wargames, if there weren't little toy Star Wars characters, I wouldn't have picked this one up. I generally disagree with FFG's whole approach to game design. It always seems cool when I read it, then playing is a disappointment.

LordUrban reacted to Yodhrin in What Factions do you think should be next?
Yup, this.
It's not as difficult as folk are thinking to make a Scum faction work, even with the "stingy" release schedule. Do a small "army box" instead of the usual two-faction versus core set that contains "generic" Scum units - thugs, pirates etc made up of loads of grizzled human and alien guys, a fan-favourite non-factional commander like Hondo, a swoop gang or something for their heavy/elite unit - and then expand it over time by cycling through favourite criminal, mercenary, or even native/partisan forces and giving them their own commander, operative, and elite unit to start with, with the Commander defining the faction for choosing options. Mandos could get a boost quite quickly with alt-cards for the Wren stuff on top of an aforementioned release(based on stuff from The Mandalorian?). Alt cards for the Bounty Hunters already in the game would expand their options there.
Sure, maybe you can't do an all-Mando, all-the-time army or a whole Jawa tribe right off the bat, but it shouldn't take that long before you can have a Scum army with some of those distinctive subfactions added for theme.
Tuskens probably would be limited to a scenario-style box though, given that unlike Jawas the bigwigs at Lucasfilm are adamant Tuskens essentially never leave Tatooine and certainly not in any kind of numbers.

Tuskens have several choices. Bantha (which can have several options), tuskens, sniper, massifs. Rontos as well?
But limited to tatooin of course.
Hondo has tanks, bikes... Etc. Also a good starting point.

LordUrban reacted to KommanderKeldoth in I really want the First Order (and Resistance) and why they are viable as factions.
You forgot Preatorian Guards as special forces.
For a lot of younger players that was the star wars they grew up with, like it or not.
I still don't like the prequels as films but I've come to have a greater appreciation for them through the Clone Wars TV show and through various media like comics and video games. Basically the movies sucked, but I like the overall setting and aesthetic and I appreciate the bold vision that George was trying to accomplish (but failed to deliver on)

LordUrban reacted to Shadows of the Future in A Galactic Civil War
Well, I've got what I currently have for Legion painted...kept on planning on starting a thread here for it but kept getting distracted. All I have is a starter set and a stormtrooper expansion.
For the last stormtroopers, I spent a lot of time working on the bases for them, I'd gotten the base to work for the reflective death star flooring style, then I used the wrong glue to attack them to those bases and the glue created odd texture and other issues. Tried to fix it with some more gloss...which didn't quite fix the problem and kind of makes it look like there's a layer of glass over it that isn't quite flat around the feet.

LordUrban reacted to Traxo in 805th Engineering Division
Hello and welcome to my presentation of my small (but growing) army
When the game was announced, i knew i had to buy it - and i knew i had to limit myself to one of the sides. My good friend and gaming partner is an allround good guy, and always chooses the good guys - and since i didn't want to play mirror-matches all the time, i chose the Empire.
With that in place i knew i needed a theme for my force - that theme would be decided by my choice of basing (ie. what planet they operate on), the paintscheme and the units in the army. My friend and i was already in the process of making Tatooine terrain, so i quickly settled on desertbases.
Then i knew i wanted a focus of machines and vehicles in my army - that would be my focus point.
Lastly i chose to implent a lot of grey in my paintscheme - this was done to make my force unique - but also to couple my ground forces with my vehicles - the grey would be my main color through out the army. Lastly i chose some heavy weathering on most troops and vehichles.
First a piece of background, before the pictures of my finished models:
The 805th Engineering Division have been stationed on Jorbal for more years than any one care to remember. If you ask the troops themselves, they are pretty confident that the Empire have all but forgotten them. New supplies and gear from the Core Worlds are a thing of rarity, and most troops never live to see the Shuttles fly in.
This neglect from high command have resulted in a division, which is fiercely independent. You will never hear a member of the 805th ask for help. They make do with what they have, and is never one to make complaints. Their main focus on the arid rock called Jorbal is protecting the Imperial Research facility there - exactly what is researched is not known, and to be honest, the 805th does not care. A command was given, and a command is followed.
The most prized possession of the 805th Engineering Division is its Walkers, Speederbikes and Tanks. This is the vehicles that give the Empire the upper hand against Jorbal's insurgents and numerous Rebel cells - that for some reason often target the research facility. Although these vehicles often looks battered and scoured and often is stripped down to the grey primer by the fierce sandstorms, an enemy should not underestimate them - the inner workings i a wellgreased gear, and its not misleading that the 805th is a Engineering division.
The latest rumours in the barracks is that a high ranking Imperial in en-route to the planet on a secret mission - who could it be...?
The first unit painted, was my Storm Troopers:
Pretty standard, except for my DLT-trooper. I quickly decided that i wanted more unique heavy weapons, so all my heavies are going to have Visors, antennae and Shoulderguards.
Then i painted my Speederbikes, to have a go at the grey vehicle colour i had chosen - and to see the grey markings on another type of trooper armour:
Some bad pictures - sorry
After these, i couldn't help my self, and dove into the challenge of tackling the AT-ST - i knew i wanted two of these, so i was very excited!
Really happy with the outcome - all weapons are interchangable, and the Mortar is fastened with magnets.
Lastly a group photo of my forces so far:
Next up - some more Storm Troopers - gotta have those Corps!
Thanks for looking, and feel free to leave a comment below - im really liking the game and the community so far
/Jon
