  1. Star Wars is also a huge collectible item, so I see the potential that it outsells pokemon. I am not saying it is likely to ever happen, but it could happen. I think right now it has no shot at outselling any of the 3 top ccgs, but I think that a big factor in that is that SW: Destiny is not available in mass market shops. So if Destiny ever gets into the mass market shops it might have a shot.
  2. I am also very interested in where you got the information that Destiny outsold pokemon? please add sources next time. All sale reports I found have Destiny in 4th place behing magic, pokemon and yugioh: https://icv2.com/articles/markets/view/36973/top-collectible-games-fall-2016 https://icv2.com/articles/markets/view/38064/top-collectible-games-spring-2017
  3. Because buffing him to 30 would also mean that his single die would need to cost 23/24 and they didn´t want that to be the case. also 28 leaves the possibility open to create more powerful characters/versions at 29 or 30. if he was 30 every other card that will be released in the future has to be balanced against his 30 points. They could also think about future game modes where you can field more than 30 points. A team based mode where two player have a shared point total of characters and so on. I think people should not only look at what the game has to offer right now, but what might be possible down the line and how a decision might influence the game design in the the future.
  4. What? That sounds like misinformation to me. I highly doubt they'd do that with demand the way it is. Unless they are rushing out the next cycle and are incapable of running some more off. Perhaps there'll be a reprint after the Rouge One expansion. My first reaction was, no way, this is FFG and they will reprint this set. But then it occurred to me that CCGs and the likes usually only get printed once, because the release schedule is so fast that the next expansion needs to get printed as the current set hits the market. So it could have been FFGs intend to not reprint the set. But Awakenings is the first set of Destiny and FFG didn´t how much demand there was for this product. So if it indeed sells out of its first print run I suspect they will reprint the set. With set 2 featuring rouge one and likely already being at the printers we might see the Awakenings reprint after the second set hit the market but I´m pretty sure it will get reprinted if it sells out fast. FFG would be foolish not to reprint a tournament legal set that is in high demand and expected to sell more copies then originally expected.
  5. In the Knights of Ren Podcast with Lukas Litzsinger said that each of the three sets they release over the next year will have around 170 cards. 170 cards and 4*6 characters is their design ground work they try to hit with every expansion of the game. One of these set will have 2 new starter packs. But the tourney meta will still allow ANY cards? For now yes. depending of if there are too strong cards that break the balance we could see banned/restricted cards. Rotaition where a whole set is no longer allowed for tournament play won´t hit until at least two years from now.
  6. My legendaries out of the 1st box were: Phasma, Vader, Kylo Ren Lightsaber, Launch Bay, One with the Force and Thermal Detonator

  8. My first display (36 packs) had 14 characters in it. The 12 booster I got at the prerelease event add 3 characters to that. so I´m 17 out of 48. I got another 3 displays at home to crack open.
  9. There is also one other difference in Destiny compared to (most) other CCG, that a lot of people seem to miss. Uncommon cards in Destiny aren´t really that uncommon... I would rather call them diceless rares... They have almost the same ratio in a card pack than rares and there is one more uncommon card in the set then rares. Once more people are aware of that fact I expect the better uncommons to be worth as much as the better rares. For your example of a booster draft with starters. You could always reuse your bought starters. I doubt a shop would force you to buy a new starter each time you wanted to participate in their draft tournament. That would be just stupid of the shop owner and would leave me to no longer shop at that place. I would add you also get 36 uncommon cards from a booster box compared to 30 rares (and 6 legendary). I would think the uncommons will still accumulate in the secondary market faster than rares. This might actually happen more due to the fact that you need 12-15 dice cards in your 15 card deck which are only rare and much less uncommons to build a good deck.
  10. I hope the next set hits end of march/ early april so everyone has had some time to playtest the new cards before worlds.

  12. That draftpack needs a battlefield added into, other than that I could see it. I wouldn´t be very excited about drafting with these set cards, but it makes for a solid base and with the fact that you only would need to draft 10 cards to make a playable deck they could maintain the hero/villain restriction.
  13. I think he is looking for a draft format with the product we currently have not what might come in the future. I think we will see draft kits in the future, Lukas hinted that they are looking into ways to make draft possible. I think they might be more along the lines of what Decipher did with the Lord of the Rings Draft packs. They were basically characterpacks that included a lot duplicates of the promo (starter) characters. FFG could do a similar base character booster which includes multiples of Rey/Kylo/Finn and all of the non-uniques. In addition to that character booster every participant would have to buy a certain amount of regular boosters. I don´t think these packs will hit the stores soon though...
  14. Thinking about this format made me realize that the problem might not be associated as much to the characters, but more with the dice cards in general. You might end up with no dice in the colors your drafted characters have. One way to solve that could be to open all packs first and build a dice d pack you draft from first, afterwards combine the remaining cards of two opened boosters to one new pack hat gets drafted from...
  15. There is still a chance that noone gets a character. Also, I think that the deck building is very limited at 20 character points. I think that I'm OK with 20 cards/30 char points, but there's just not the permutations available sub-20. Or, you do something like 3-character dice only, and forget the costs. (letting people play 2 or 3 characters). In a cube draft populated by all of the characters everyone will have a chance to get some more powerful characters anyhow. It .... might ... happen, but I think the chances of no one getting a character are very slim. In my twelf boosters I bought I opened 4 characters, at my preview event I haven´t heared of anyone that hasn´t gotten at least one caracter in his seix boosters he/she was able to buy. As for deckbuilding, Could work could be too limiting that has to be tested. I´m looking for a draft format that doesn´t require a character pool or a cube to draft from. If I can´t figure out a way to do this, my enjoyment of the game will be very limited. (Cube drafting is fun to me when there are at least a couple years of released products and you can make a "power cube") For sealed play I propose to use the 1 starter + 6 booster format and build your deck with standard deck building rules. Thats pretty much how we played casually in the prerelease event.
  16. Source? The Knights of Ren podcast with Lukas Litzsinger. He pretty much confirmed that Chewie (might) make a appearance in the next set.
  17. I´m also looking into making destiny draftable... My general idea is to limit the deck size and the value of characters to 20 each. every other deckbuilding limitation stays the same as in the base rules. I think on average you open one character every 3 packs. Assuming this I wold suggest that each player buys into the draft with 8 packs. As for the drafting: Each participant opens two packs per round of drafting and adds them together and picks one of the cards and hands the pack to his/her neighbor (alternating left/right each round). I know this is a very rough first draft of a draft but I haven´t had the opportunity of opening a good sample size of boosters to look at the average content.
  18. My idea has NOTHING to do with ownership of the battlefield. My idea is when time is called and the round ends, both players roll all dice they have in play. They then add the values of those dice together. The highest value total wins. This is similar to how initiative is resolved at the beginning of the game. And if YOU actually read the quote he was quoting YOU knew that he wasn´t quoting YOUR post at all, but Ajones47....
  19. Me! If I don´t get one by Tuesday I´ll go crazy.... But My guess is I won´t get a shipping notification until thursday.

    Bluffing

That would be cheating not bluffing
  21. I also don´t really understand what the issue would be. If a card tells me to reroll my opponents die/dice, i am the one who does the rerolling. In a casual game this shouldn´t cause any problem. If my opponents fingers are dirty I ask him to wash/wipe them clean first. If the gamestate gets accidentally changed, hey its a casual game. If it gets manipulated on purpose I probably won´t play him again. In a tournament setting: I nominate the dice that get rerolled. You hand me the dice, I reroll them in such a manner the board state doesn´t get manipulated. You place the rerolled dice back into your dicepool afterwards. all this shouldn´t cause any manipulation of the game state. If a manipulation happens regardless, the judge is getting called and the player responsible for the manipulation gets a warning if accidental/looses the match if on purpose. Its really as simple as that. If both players are fair contestants there should not arise any problem when resolving that action. And yes I sleeve my cards and play on a playmat. but i won´t have any issue if my opponent needs to reroll my dice touch my cards. The cards are sleeved and thus protected against dirt and you can easily whipe the dice clean if they should get sticky...
  22. Depends on how much you are willing to spend... If you want to buy less than 20 boosters it might be better to pick up a second starter.
  23. Yeah sith holocron is at an insane power level... but there are counter cards against it... so it is probably not broken.... I´m more concerned with Rey + Ambush upgrades....
