PS. I would not be surprised if Amazon had a say in stuff (game, etc.) released around the time of the show, after all they really have paid a lot just for the rights (though they can afford it), and the rumor has it, it is going to be the most expensive tv show to date. Let us hope it is going to be the best as well.

Gizlivadi reacted to EBerling in (Spoilers?) Things You'd Still Like to See
I know there's been lots of talk of particular player cards people were still hoping to see, but not as much discussion of general things they'd still like to see the game address.  I put spoilers, since I assume anyone avoiding the unspoiled player cards from Land of Sorrow / Fortress of Nurn might be able to deduce from what folks talk about as still lacking as indicative of what we're not getting.  Whether or not the game ever returns in any fashion, these are the sorts of things I'd be most excited to see explored in future designs:

    (1) More Tribal Incentives
-- I was hoping for a Contract or other player cards that rewarded players for having heroes all from one tribal subfaction (e.g. Noldor, Silvan, Gondor, etc.).  While lots of cards synergize with allies of a particular type, very few actually check for or reward having heroes from the same faction.  The few that come to mind are things like Dain-Sp, Denethor-Ld (who can pass to Gondor heroes), and the like.  Cards that required that all of your heroes had X Trait would be neat (like Thicket of Spears, but for Gondor instead of Tactics), and could even finally be some incentive to consider running cards like Nor Am I a Stranger, Elf-Friend, or Service of the Steward.

    (2) More FFG-Created Heroes
-- Some of my favorite characters are ones that have been created by FFG, such as Bereavor, Thalin, Thalion, Haldan, Lanwyn, Rossiel, and so on.  I really like these unknown heroes, and it'd be great to see more, especially to round out factions without many characters (Woodman, Harad, Beorning especially).  Even having one more Harad and Woodman hero would allow for building thematic decks with all three heroes of that faction (assuming MotK).

    (3) More use for Skills
-- Skills like Noble, Scout, Ranger, and Warrior are neat, but very few cards make use of them, and of the ones that do very few are actually used.  To the extent that I can't think of any circumstance where Doughty Ranger or Diligent Noble, for instance, would ever currently be worth using (though I like that they exist).

    (4) More Song/Minstrel Exploration
-- Lots of quality songs in the game, it'd be nice to see some more synergy built up with Minstrel and some Instrument Attachments (not unlike what's been done with Pipes recently).  Songs are such an integral part of Tolkien's world-building, it'd be great to see a Hero devoted to it as well.

    My takes:
SpAragorn's ability isn't dramatic, but I like having an Argalad for locations in the game.  There are few heroes where it's important to buff their willpower specifically; this will be one.
The contract should be fun to play, and now makes it easier to start in Valour if you're feeling aggressive....  Four hobbit decks will be the most common for theme, TaMerry, and Drinking Song.
Shining Shield looks fine, cheap +1/+2 that can go on a lot of nobles.
Knowledge of the enemy seems useful for Dunedain decks, but it's not an early accelerator, I don't see it being used much.
I like Haleth in a traps or woodmen deck, also will be a great addition to a Three Rings deck.  Fantastic ability for MotK hero.
Woodman Lore likes distributed attachments, and a couple of woodmen allies really like loaded up locations; OTOH some location attachments don't mind being distributed (Power in the Earth, Thror's Key, Hithlain).  I don't see this card being used outside of a woodmen deck, and not guaranteed to see play there.
Misty Mountain Journeyman's use for a Dunedain deck is obvious, if it uses spirit (which most don't).  But it's fantastic value for any deck that expects to have an enemy engaged during planning sometime, which covers a lot of decks.
A Desparate Path is interesting, the first card to search out a treachery.  This card is going to be very quest dependent, but if you know you can survive whatever treachery turns up this a very powerful card for YOLO questing.
Westfold Lancer is great willpower value for Tactics, and a fantastic option for Lothriel.
I think the price is fair for Tireless Thoroughbred, but the cost of a restricted slot makes it tough to put on a hero unless Elfhelm is in play.  Being able to put it on a character is nice, but aside from Beorn, Soldier of Erebor and maybe Gimli I'm not seeing a lot of likely targets.
Thorongil is expensive; which alternate-hero abilities are worth spending 3 to get the ability and a sphere match?
Aragorn -- adding LoAragorn's one-time ability is certainly worth 3.  TaAragorn's passive -1 defense to enemies would also be handy.
Beregond -- adding SpBeregond's threat reduction to TaBeregond is certainly worth 3.
Bilbo -- giving LoBilbo the extra willpower and damage would be great, as would giving TaBilbo the extra card draw.
Boromir -- both abilities are potentially useful to the other version.
Brand -- no joy here, LeBrand isn't ranged and TaBrand won't be in a Dale deck.
Dain -- giving SpDain the global dwarf boost seems worth three, but a defense boost isn't worth 3 for LeDain.
Denethor -- 3 to add LoDenethor's scrying to LeDenethor is worth it.
Eomer -- since characters don't generally leave play before Eomer commits to the quest, there's no synergy here, but adding LeEomer's ability to TaEomer might be worth 3 once the Galadriel/Herugrim combo is set up.
Eowyn -- one time ready and +9 attack is worth 3.
Faramir -- LoFaramir with LeFaramir's ally readying would be nice in an Ent deck.  If LeFaramir is in an ent deck, the sphere addition is actually useful, though LoFaramir's ability may not be worth the cost even with that.
Frodo -- while the two responses are in different activities, they are both strong enough to be worth 3 cost.
Gimli -- attack and defend abilities don't synergize, not worth 3 in either direction.
    Glorfindel -- LoGlorfindel's healing isn't worth 3
Legolas -- adding the progress to SpLegolas may be worth 3 if he's routinely readied for attack.
Merry -- with cheap readying, I think combining these may be worth 3.  Note that SpMerry gets his attack 1 higher than TaMerry does in an all-hobbit deck.  Saga SpMerry with the new contract and Thorongil....
Pippin -- if you were running SpPippin for some unknown reason, adding LoPippin's useful ability would certainly be worth 3.
Imrahil -- 3 is expensive for a once-per-round conditional ready, but adding TaImrahil's ability to LeImrahil might be worth 3.
Theoden -- adding TaTheoden's ability depends on how many Tactics heroes are around, it would at least buff Theoden by one and the tactics symbol may also be useful.

I've played a lot of Radagast-Eagles prior to Gwaihir being spoiled, and I've played a lot of Gwaihir-Hero since.

He's definitely a solid hero, and the eagle archetype is potent, though I too was really really hoping for a Tactics Eagle attachment to help out (I would have bet big on a "The Wind-Lord" title).

Elrond/Hirgon + Radagast + Gwaihir  are the builds I've tried most.  I've only had a problem readying Gwaihir in one game out of about two dozen, but quests that are particularly harsh about discarding your hand and/or your resources have the potential to leave Gwaihir totally out to pasture.  Otherwise, I've found he's very easy to ready 2-3 times per turn (ready in Planning Phase by playing an Eagle, Ready after questing through Hirgon/Vilya/Emmissary, then ready during combat as a Winged Guardian or Vassal leaves play.  Then sprinkle in Meneldor's Flight / Flight of the Eagles / Born Aloft / Gwaihir's Debt / (Sneak Attack if you want to mess with getting Leadership access) as needed for extra readies.

The basic archetype is good. though the deck does basically build itself for better or worse (e.g. I use the exact same 3x every eagle ally except for a singleton Landroval as has already been posted here).  It can really struggle with Threat if it doesn't set up some plays of Gandalf, it can be a bit lacking in questing Willpower, and it has no cancellation/control against Treacheries (unless you go the Elrond+Vilya for Test of Will route).  As such, it's got some weaknesses in particular quests, especially 1-Handed.

But it's certainly a viable archetype, and Hero-Gwaihir is nice as a hero.  With Gwaihir + Radagast, you basically have two heroes that will almost always quest and still be readied for combat.  It's viable.  But I don't really find Gwaihir Hero versions to be a lot more powerful than versions with some other Tactics hero (e.g. Legoas/Eowyn/Beorn/Grimbeorn) and Gwaihir ally, since Gwaihir Ally is a great ally that is the only way in sphere to get recursion on eagles that have discarded themselves in the early game.  Eagles are still probably much less powerful and less flexible than, say, the Silvan Archetype which is probably it's closest relative, so it'd be nice to see an attachment someday in the vein of something like the Elven-King or O Loien!, especially since so many themes have something (even Harad has Khaliel's Headress).

Not bad at all! I like it! I've also been playing mining Dwarves recently, albeit with a different lineup. Indeed, Gandalf seems like the way to go with mining dwarves at least as they currently stand. I'm of the opinion that mining isn't wuite there yet and I'm hoping for at least 1 more card to help them. They need something else IMO to make the whole milling thing worth it, as in something that triggers when it is discarded from the top of your deck, or that triggers when something else is discarded from the top of the deck. Still, this is an excellent attempt, wish I had the packs to try these cards!

It's not dodgy. Hatchette do dozens if not hundreds of collectable magazine series, including the Warhammer 40k conquest which recently finished an 80 magazine run (I got a lot of it) and currently running Mortal Realms for Age of Sigmar.
A lack of interest and the covid outbreak is probably why the 4 issue pilot was not carried on I guess.

New palantiri are ALWAYS welcome. Wish we could break the timeframe a little bit so we could have all 7 of them, but oh well. No encounter Ithil Stone sucks too. As for the stone of Elostirion, thematically it shouldn't be too risky, as this one was disconnected from the others and could only look West into Aman, so no risk of Sauron's influence at all.

    *Stone of Amon Sul
    Artifact. Item.
    Cost 1
    Guarded (Enemy)
    Restricted
Attach to a hero. Attached hero gains +2 defense.
Response: After attached hero exhausts to defend, exhaust Stone of Amon Sul to reveal an attacking enemy's shadow card. If that card has no shadow effect, ready the defending hero and add one resource to its resource pool, then deal that enemy a new shadow card.

I really like Stone of Elostirion, but thought it sadly lacked the risk factor that the Palantiri should have in the time period of this game. We could very easily be getting a guarded Leadership attachment in Land of Sorrow, so this is a possibility. I wanted a guarded card that seems right at home in a Dunedain deck. Drawing the enemy can be a big help, and defense in that deck archetype is never a bad thing. The response seems right in line with a palantir. Look in to prepare for battle, but perhaps in so doing you will make matters worse for yourself.

After seeing the JIME preview for their new expansion (that game is tempting me more and more haha) I think a female Dwarf would be a fun challenge as well. With that in mind here is my take on her:

    Dis
    7 Threat
    2 Willpower
    1 Attack
    1 Defense
    HP 3
    Dwarf, Noble
Allies named Kili or Fili lose the ally card type and gain the hero card type.
(Would have to be released alongside new Ally versions of her sons)

    OR
Action: Discard the top card of your deck to add one resource to Dis's resource pool (limit twice per round).

So I had an interesting observation the other day, there arent any female heroes in Leadership. Plenty of FFG characters spread through the other three spheres and even the classic book characters appear in Spirt/Tactics, but currently we have not one leadership female character. So for fun what would you design one as? Who would she be?

Galadriel is a great leadership choice and another version of her would be interesting, especially one that focused on her magic and power. Dunedain could make for some interesting characters as well.

    My thoughts:

    Elena
    Minstrel, Noble, Noldor
    9 Threat
    3 Willpower
    1 Attack
    1 Defense
    3 Hitpoints
Response: After you play a card with a Song trait, ready a hero you control or add a resource to Elena's resource pool (limit once per round).
Setup: Search your deck for a Song card and add it to your hand.

    Or
Giselle (or whatever generic name you want)
    Dunedain, Warrior
    8 Threat
    2 Willpower
    3 Attack
    1 Defense
    3 Hitpoints
    Ranged
Response; after Giselle participates in an attack that destroys an enemy, add one resource to her resource pool.
