Justify the Grave Warden's skill set for me
DurakBlackaxe replied to Emirikol's topic in Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay
Was surprised by the BS, checking Nights Dark Masters you can see why some of the choices were made but then again from my study of some of the followers of Morr, they tend to like using ranged weapons. -
Yep i now know this Jericho. Further post down showed when I read back in old books they wore chest armour ( guarded the chest slot only). 2nd edition had various body armour slots. But the question was about shields, and thats the one thing not on any of the allowed lists.

The information on Page 9 of the errata, dealing with netters and Clubbers. Is that what you mean?

New POD: NECROMANCERS!
DurakBlackaxe replied to Doc, the Weasel's topic in Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay
I am happy that they are giving out careers packs as PoD's. (privately wish it had been a Black Guard or Knight of the Raven in the pack.) Have to be a evil party to have a necromancer/master Necromancer with ghoul in it. They dont strike me as the party type. -
Not sure How to do them. A specialised Talent called Gifts. Or bonus cards. Cant really be actions as theres no reckless/conservative to them You know I did a nice long post with pictures, but my internet decided to not post the post. I try rememebr all i said. I think what i wrote was treat Virtues like oaths, they can only choose one. (The Virtue of Chivalry is a required purchase) Maybe they buy Gifts to expand their collection of usable gifts. The book I read says the below Knight Errant = Virtue of Chivalry Knight of the Realm = Virtue of Chivalry + Only one of the 14 listed Virtues Questing Knight = Virtue of Chivalry + Quest Virtue (this is Questing Knight Only) Grail Knight = Virtue of Chivalry + Upgraded Virtue of the one picked when a Knight of the Realm As a Career Ability. Doesnt look too good As a Talent ( Dont know how to edit the png to change the colour and rename them to Virtue and Gift. but gives you an idea.) I am only going from what I read in the book. The Gifts are the difficult part. Balance wise I mean.

Liber Fanatica - Strange Eons extension
DurakBlackaxe replied to Hurlanc's topic in WFRP House Rules
Anyone with knowledge of art packages, i use paint.net, know how to change the background colour of the talent tab i have linked. I tired doing it but everything changed colour, even the gold borders. -
Do you use highlighters in your published adventures.
DurakBlackaxe replied to gmanjkd's topic in WFRP Gamemasters
If your talking about the highlighter pens. Theres a reason I never allow things with ink near anything I play due to accidents. You can never get them off a talent card etc. I have alot of pencils and rubbers (erasers, i think people call them these days). If your talking about highlighting with a wordprocessor. Thats why I plan ahead and use the computer. When I used to write adventures over 20 years ago, been 15 odd years since I wrote one, you get out of practice. I used to type up speeches in my wordprocessor, and used various font colours based on various factors, friendly to the speaker, angry at the speaker. Had to be situational though, many the time, the speech I wrote couldnt be used cause the players had done something totally unexpected. One being they used a fire elemental to burn through a locked wooden door to get to the encounter leader who had ran in there. Closed room, no ventation for the smoke, no speech. Luckily he happened to have had a diary :/ For walking into a room, green text was what you said to players, black text was gm instructions to yourself, yellow/gold text was what you said if they passed a check. Red if they failed some check. It might have been colourful, but once you knew what the colours meant it ran quite well. I always made sure everything relating to one area or person was on one page, so there be no flicking around looking for it. -
I can think of two ways of doing this. First is the below method. The carrer ability card is you start with the Virtue of Chivalry card and a Steed. Instead of Oath, have a Tab called Virtue. Knight Errants start with Virtue of Chivalry. I have access to eon or storage sites to create this so you have to visualise it A card, one side says VIRTUE on left side, Other Side says GIFT. In the centre the below text You spend a Fortune Point to obtain One Gift, which will last through on encounter or until you retreat Then have Gift cards for Grail Draught Ladys Mantle Might of Purity Shout Heart Word of LIght For the Virtue of Knighthood - For Knights of the Realm I am confused by the wording, as it seems to say they must have Virtue of Chivalry before they can choose the one and only Virtue of Knighthood they can have. If this is so then For Knights of the Realm must take Virtue of Chivalry. And also need a place on their card for a second virtue. Which would be a choice from the list of the other 14 Virtues. Second method is to have the Virtue of chivalry to be the career ability for bretonnian knights. And just have the Gifts as separate cards You spend a Fortune Point to obtain a One Gift, which will last through on encounter or until you retreat But have for the Knights of the Realm to have a Virtue tab on their card, for to hold one of the 14 Virtue Talent cards they can only have one of. What do you think?

Need to find a nice image source for Blackguard and Knight of the Raven. Not sure on what Oath to create as of yet, have to read the other Oaths. Had to edit the code to let me use Oath in eon. I know when on duty they have an Oath of Silence. No idea yet how to give a benefit to them for this. More Focused hmm But heres an attempt to convert 2nd Edition Black Guard to 3e. Not sure why knights have piety, but took it anyway since it is a religious order. Advances are Conservative with no reckless as they are a defensive unit. This is not a finished career, still alot to work out. The image needs to be changed to something better

A Black Guard defends where the ravens are aggressive. I think the way the career entries list them, a Black Guard is intermediate where a Knight of the Raven is advanced. They likely end up a mixture of knight and outrider, and knight of inner circle for the advanced option. Entires for Black Guard are Knight, Priest (Morr), Sergeant, Squire, Vampire Hunter and Witch Hunter Exits are Captain, Champion, Priest (Morr), Knight of the Inner Circle, Knight of the Raven and Vampire Hunter I will compare these 2nd edition with their 3rd edition when I get home, To get a comparison. Willpower,(Agility or toughness) are the highest stats.

I have been researching the Knights of Morr, that is the Black Guard and the Raven Knights of Morr. In Fantasy Battle, the Knight Orders publication, they are shown with the normal knights weaponery, lance, hand weapons, horses etc. But when you read the Night's Dark Masters they are shown to be mainly a ranged weapon based knighthood, seemingly the best may to kill undead is from range. They also seem to have BS type of skills. Which I dont correspond into 3e, unless I am wrong. So how are you guys converting the stats and skills into a 3e character? Is there a system or method

Where the other Witch Hunters went?
DurakBlackaxe replied to Yepesnopes's topic in Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay
Nice addition to the witch hunter family. I didnt know there were witch humters of other religions? Apart from Sigmar and Solkan. But it seems i was wrong, I read up on it. Ulric has them also. If you think of it with Morr. he has the followers who hunt necromancry, the other gods likely also had those types of people too. I always wanted to have a Solkan Witch Hunter, but i havent seen since 1st edition see any spells listed for priests of the law gods. Wish i hadnt sold my realm of chaos books all those years ago. I didnt get the 2nd books, so no idea if they had anything. Think one was to make your sword burn. Solkan the Avenger is the master of vengeance, an angry god who inflicts retribution upon the enemies of the Gods of Law. Of all the Gods of Law, Solkan can be said to be the most well known and popular, although he and his followers are feared rather than respected. He is worshipped by many Witch Hunters. -
Yepesnopes said: I wouldn't dare to contradic Glorian Underhill when Dwarf lore is involved. Nonetheless, I give faith that in the book Stone and Steel from Warhammer v1 dwarf slayers where allowed to wear armour. In my games, as Glorian says, no Dwarf Slayer is allowed to carry shield nor to wear any amour, they already carry enough shame upon their shoulders. Cheers, Yepes So i went back to my 2nd edition book, cant find where i put my 1st edition book. Also looked at Stone and Steel. It seems that in the roleplay game trollslayers could wear leather jerkins (light armour) and the dragon and daemonslayer could wear mail shirts. Only covers the chest area it seems, maybe they didnt like the cold back then But still they dont have shield listed as usable. Funny how your memory plays tricks on you. In the Battle game only the slayer king could wear armour.

From the warhammer lore, no they cant. They arent allowed to have anything armourish, I think in 1st edition they had magical runic tattoos that gave protection. They are basically trying to kill themselves by doing heroic deeds. If you ever see any of the pictures/models etc. They are either 2 handed or 2 weaponed.

Liber Fanatica 8 - The Criminal Empire (new careers)
DurakBlackaxe replied to Emirikol's topic in Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay
Looked at my WRFR core book, not one of the career exits exist in 3rd edition. But a couple of similar entries for it exist which are. Mercenary Basic,Combat,Menial,Rogue Thug Basic, Combat, Menial, Rogue From the text it seems to suggest they are just dressed up thugs. So just got with the same for a Bodyguard? That would make it simple. -

Just a question, the bodyguard only has basic as its only comparison advancement ( think thats what its called the bit under the name of the career. Is this correct? -

DurakBlackaxe said: The problem is how to (if not using token coins) Keep track who has what false coinage and if they are using it when making a payment Does the player check their money when they get it, is there a check for this, or only check if they ask? The check itself would either way tell them something was wrong, which could be an issue. Would they spot its a forgery if they did What did honest people do in olden times if found it was a forgery. did you report to town guards, banks or who? From your reply, for number 3 your saying have it only when large amounts of treasure are found, and at a money exchanger. I suppose if they gave him they be arrested and trialed as counterfeiters. And vice versa. But if they get this false money and pass it on, maybe throw a dice to see if that payment has the flase coinage in it, and if the tarder notices. Found the answer to 4 was execution.

Did you work out how your house ruling your halflings? If so hows it working out, they arent too weak as a character?

Sorry, memory problems are a terrible things. Wasn't there a book that told of the inner workings of the Witch hunters. Could have been a novel series set in the Great Temple of Sigmar. I am sure i remember reading of different departments and one was a plate wearing melee type knight. But think that was a warrior priest of sigmar or a knight of Sigmar. Since the order hq is in the Great Temple of Sigmar. I just wish I could remember the book I read it in grr. Also was sure the Inquisitor ordered normal witch hunters around, making them at least one step up from a witch hunter. Maybe they were the ones that sorted out corruption in their own faith, police of the police if you will?

cant edit I should be saying counterfeit coins, not forgery it seems.

I am currently trying to get the background materials ready for the game. So now I have moved onto coins, this in turn leads to forgery. Currently in my country we have false coins floating around, people keep passing them on, cause they dont wish to be left with it and lose out. They are quite easy to spot if your looking for it, also people are using coins from another country which arent legal tender, that look like pound coins if arent looking too closely. In warhammer, i know the states have their own coinage which from the pictures look like a piece of metal hammered onto a template. Which look easy to forge. Also I read in some fantasy books, people filed off some metal off coins to make another coin from this trimming, making the real coin have less weight. The problem is how to (if not using token coins) Keep track who has what false coinage and if they are using it when making a payment Does the player check their money when they get it, is there a check for this, or only check if they ask? The check itself would either way tell them something was wrong, which could be an issue. Would they spot its a forgery if they did What did honest people do in olden times if found it was a forgery. did you report to town guards, banks or who? I been thinking of buying plastic money, but card coins could be better as you could easily make a fake coin. No need to use them all the time, but throw them out there once in a while. Last question, what has been the most amount of coinage a PC has carried around? There must be a limit to how much can be carried in a pouch, before your into bags, chests, banks etc Found an interesting article on warhamemr coinage http://www.fantasyflightgames.com/edge_news.asp?eidn=881
