  1. This is a fantastic site. This will work great. Thanks for the heads up on this site. Flux
  2. I would like to thank everyone who helped me with squad building ideas in another post that I started. A brief background of me, I work in the fire department and during our down time at the station is when we would be playing X-Wing. We don’t have the time to build squads so I am working on some prebuilt ships so we can just grab and play. Squad size is not too important to us for this kind of play as long as the points are somewhat close. The idea is to pick a few ships and go at it and have fun. I have built some ships and I would like to get opinions on the individual ship builds. I will be getting a Tie Fighter expansion pack so I will have those pilots and upgrades. These are ships we would like to use. Here is my list: REB YT-1300 Han Solo (46) + Millennium Falcon (1) + Chewbacca (4) + Gunner (5) + Expert Handling (2) YT-1300 Outer Rim Smuggler (27) + Engine Upgrade (4) + Nien Nunb (1) X-Wing Wedge Antilles (29) + Marksmanship (3) + Proton Torpedoes (4) + Shield Upgrade (4) X-Wing Red Squadron Pilot (23) + R5 Astromech (1) X-Wing Red Squadron Pilot (23) + R2-F2 (3) X-Wing Luke Skywalker (28) + Draw Their Fire (1) + R2-D2 (4) + Shield Upgrade (4) B-Wing Ten Numb (31) + Ion Cannon (3) + Marksmanship (3) + Firecontrol System (2) B-Wing ? IMP Bounty Hunter (33), Krassis Trelix (36) or Boba Fett (39) + Heavy Laser Cannon (7) + Seismic Charges (2) + Mercenary Co-Pilot (2) + Engine Upgrade (4) Tie Int. Turr Phennir (25) + Stealth Device (3) Tie Int. Saber Squadron Pilot (21) + Stealth Device (3) Tie Fighter Black Squadron Pilot (14) + Veteran Instincts (1) Tie Int. Soontir Fel (27) + Daredevil (3) Tie Fighter Dark Curse (16) ?
  3. I am just going use what came with the ships.
  4. I am new to X-Wing and I just bought 2 starter sets, 1 Firespray, 1 YT-1300, 2 Tie Interceptors and 1 B-Wing and I would like some suggestions for building two squads, one Rebel and one Imperial. The people that I will be playing with are also new to X-Wing so once the squads are built we will not be changing anything, stats or pilot wise for a while until we get use to the game. In other words once built the squads will remain unchanged until we get better. I would like the squads to be as even as possible. I am almost over whelmed at the possibilities I have in front of me. Thank you for any help. Flux
  5. I think I did. The only problem now is I don't even have the game yet and I am already looking at new ships. I new this would get addicting but not this quick.
  6. Thanks for all of the advice everyone. There are so many choices, so I decided to go with 2 Core sets, 1 Falcon, 1 B-Wing, 1 Slave and 2 Tie Interceptors. I hope these combos will balance out well. Again thanks for the advice. Of course I’m sure the addiction will set in and there will be more ships in the future.
  7. Just out of curiosity, although I have an idea but why 2 core sets?
  8. I am just getting into X-Wing and I would like to get some suggestions on which expansion packs to get to start out with? For right now I would like to have 4 or 5 ships total for each side, including the 3 ships that come with the core set. Thanks for any help. Flux
  9. I do have Android apps called Dicent, Descent Dice 2nd and of course Prime Dice D&D Pro. I also have the 19mm dice that I ordered and printed out my own labels. I just seem to have a dice addiction, I love dice. I even have the Dragon dice game and still play it. It would appear that I am equally addicted to digital dice. Still waiting for FFG to come out with extra Descent 2e dice.
  10. I am wondering if anyone has tried this app and what you think of it? I love it. Now I have digital dice for D2e and other games.
  11. I found a dice app that you can custom make dice with for android. It is called Prime Dice D&D Pro found in the Google Play store. I downloaded the PDF template that is use for printing out the stickers to make dice and then used a photo program to make the individual dice face pictures and then copy and pasted them to my phone and tablet. It works great so I thought I would let the D2e players know about this.
  12. Are there any tile sets available for D2e that will work with the TileSystem? I cannot seem to find any.
  13. I am new to the vassal system. Could I get some help? How do I get these Silken Thread files loaded as a module? Thanks in advance. Flux
  14. You could use the store cards for treasure. Of course not all of them, you would still want to get items from the store. It's just a thought.
  15. I am just trying to figure out what Monsters are in The Well of Darkness & The Altar of Despair expansions. Thanks for any help.
  16. sheriffharry said: I've been playing a solo campaign with Descent 2e for a couple of sessions now. Basically, I try to fulfill the objectives whenever I play the heroes or the OL (but mainly "root" for the heroes!). The only real modification to the rule I use is with the OL cards: I discard and redraw 3 new cards every turn (heroes AND OL) and use them as it fits. Only exception to that rule: the OL can keep ONE card for the next turn only if it is unusable the turn it is drawn. That works fairly well so far… I'll have to give that a try.
  17. I actually mentioned solo play in a post not too far back. I think that D2e is a great platform for solo play. Also I am working on some solo play mechanics myself and would be very interested in what you come up with. Maybe we could share some ideas. Just let me know.
  18. My claim was denied. All I did was ask if I could purchase some more because some were damaged, I wasn’t even ask for free replacements. They wanted me to take pictures and send them in too them. I don’t have the time so I just wrote it off. I’ll use proxies.
  19. I would have to work on a solo type format. I have played other games where people have come up with solo play rules, heck the creators of Starfleet Battles wrote solo play rules for some of their games. For D2e either the Overlord or Hero’s would have to go by automatic rules. But I think this could be done. I think it would be interesting as a solo game.
  20. I would agree with you Coldmoonrising. As for house rules, our group will do house rules but only when a rule seems to be a bit ridiculous in our opinion. We have not done any house rules for D2e. So far there doesn’t seem to be any reason at this point. This, to me is a well written, thought out game.
  21. I have not played D2e enough to figure this out yet but would stacking surges unbalance the game? For example; you are using a “Yew Shortbow” and you roll 2 surges. By the rules you can only spend 1 surge for the +2 Range and 1 surge for the +1 Damage. Would the Yew Shortbow be to strong ‘unbalanced’ if you were to spend both surges on the +1 Damage, therefore doing +2 Damage?
  22. This is strictly my opinion of D2e and this might be considered a review of D2e which I guess it is but I wrote this to give new players to D2e who have never played D1e and new players in general to fantasy games and idea of what this game is about. Also do an on-line search and you will find a lot of information on D2e. About 5 or 6 months ago I was looking for a new game and I discovered D1e. After checking out the rules and researching the game on line I was not sure if it was what I wanted. I was looking for something a little bit on the simpler side. Then I discovered D2e was coming out so I thought I would wait. I have not played D1e but I have played complex games in the past; D&D, Starfleet Battles, but as I have gotten older I wanted something with quicker setup and play time and D2e definitely has that. Technically D1e is not compatible with D2e. However, I picked up an expansion from the D1e set for the extra figures. After looking at the expansion I realized that with some imagination you can also use the story lines of the expansions and map pieces with D2e. Now the map pieces from D1e do not fit D2e maps but again that is where the imagination comes into play. Plus there are a lot of extra resources available for D2e which gives this game quite a bit of extra content. Here is a link to Board Game Geek for extra D2e stuff. http://boardgamegeek.com/files/thing/104162 As for rules, well there will always be questions about how the rules are or should be. With the group I play with, we are laid back. So if there is a problem with a rule we don’t have any difficulty working it out. I know there are a lot of people out there that are a stickler for rules and I have played with them before but our group will implement house rules that we all agree with. House rules can make any game much more enjoyable rather than arguing over what a specific rule means. After all these are just games and rules are just guidelines. Anyway, D2e is a fantastic board game that with some imagination can be played almost any way you want. Including solo play. At least that’s my opinion. In a nut shell this game should appeal to the beginners of fantasy games and veteran fantasy game players.
  23. Thanks Triu for the information. I was surprised at how much content was there.
  24. I am wondering if there are any reference sheets available for the monster and hero abilities? I realize that they are on the flip side of the cards but until I can remember them it might be easier to have them on one sheet. Or I just might have to take the time to make my own. Thanks for any help.
  25. This might be a long shot but is there anyone will to sell some monster and hero figures from D1e? Or know somewhere that I can get some? Thanks for any help.
