  1. hey duder, fellow yinzer here! email sent.
  2. rotating gm/player needed for warhammer 40k roleplay. so, another 40k group looking for a gm. but this one's a little different. YOU'LL GET TO PLAY TOO. i am a gm of a long running (1.5-2 years, maybe more and from my experience that's a long time for an online campaign) group. i ran the entirety of "the apostasy gambit" as well as a few sessions of rogue trader and deathwatch as well as one session of black crusade (funny story about that one for a later time). we are about to start a new campaign and i thought i would take the opportunity to recruit another experienced gm because i would like a chance to play once in a while. my plan is to rotate every couple months or so. i am willing to run every setting from the 40k line (even fantasy as long as it's 2e) so any potential gm would get a chance to play in them all as well. all i ask is that you do the same for me. i have about 5-7 players (none of which have the experience, inclination, desire...to gm) and plan to start whether i find another gm or not. so, if you're an experienced gm that never gets to play, post or pm and we can discuss details further. we play on monday nights from 9pm-midnightish EST using maptools 1.87 (and a very minimal framework) and skype.

  7. i am currently running a dark heresy campaign online. it's been going on weekly for over a year now. we've made a few forays into the other 40k games like deathwatch and black crusade as well and rogue trader and only war are on the horizon. anyway, i'm sure there are many different ways to get an online game up and running but here's how i do it: we use skype for voice chat, and maptools for maps and dice rolling as well as token tool for tokens. so i downloaded those first. all free. i then decided on a day and time schedule and posted on a forum recruiting players. the roster filled pretty quickly and although we had a few drop out here and there for various reasons, they were quickly replaced by others. at one point i had a waitling list long enough to make a second full group of six. the first session was spent creating characters and going over house rules and questions/ clarifications then a short intro adventure and we've been playing ever since. the biggest hurdle is finding someone to GM. i've seen MANY forum posts start with a player looking for a GM and/or group and the only replies are from other players saying they would also be interested in joining. before you know it they have more than enough people to start a group but no one wants to run it so it never gets started.
  8. sorry, haven't been back here in a while. but yeah, i'm still running this. we're just about done with crown of shadow and i am running it in 3.5. it's turning out to be loads of fun and i must be doing something right because we just switched from a year long campaign of pathfinder and i thought for sure they would approach midnight the same way they did for that. but not at all. they avoid combat when possible, run from orcs, and completely turn the other way if they sense an ambush or feel outnumbered. the paranoia is quite high. they've lost many npc friends and allies and have even suggested continuing the campaign after crown of shadow by sailing the pelluria and pirating shadow patrols. they totally get the feel of the setting and although they sometimes feel like heroes, they never feel invincible which is what i like about midnight.
  9. what a coincidence! i am just about to start a new midnight campaign! as a matter of fact, i am in need of another player (possibly 2). we play on weekly on wednesdays from 9pm to midnightish EST over maptools and skype. i am starting of with "crown of shadows". this is the groups first foray into the grim world of Midnight but it is easily my favorite setting. our group has been together for over a year (playing pathfinder) so you can be assured that the group won't dissolve after a few sessions. if you're interested, PM me and i'll give you more details. ps. i'm glad to see Midnight back on the radar. and if they do decide to "update" the setting, i hope they don't give it the WFRP 3 or star wars treatment. i don't mind buying the books, but if i have to buys cards, special dice, tokens, and any other board game pieces and expansions, i'll happily stick with Midnight 2E. I know i'm probably in the minority but that is why i still play star wars RCR, and WFRP 2E for that reason.
  10. personally, i try to ask for the awareness rolls before i give any description of the scene and adjust that description accordingly. that way i can always give them something even if they all fail. and sometimes success just means a more colorful (color? in the 41st millenium?) description. i once had a session where the pcs were searching a body and they spent multiple fate points to get a success because they (meta)knew that he had to have a clue on him. well, after they finally got the success, i told them "you search and search and you finally find……..10 thrones….." i eventually stopped laughing at them and gave them the clue but i'm not afraid to use their own meta against them.
