Although the dark side dial is still there of course. But then it won't be beyond the realms of possibility to imagine seeing cards that slow that up, too.

With out a doubt since there's already a card that "slows" the dial.

Decoy at Dantooine - Interrupt: When an objective you control leaves play, decrease the Death Star dial by 1 (to a minimum of 1).

Now that's simply offsetting a triggered advance instead of the standard one, but anything that can slow it down is in the LS favor.  And since it's an interrupt it will even effect when it's destroyed itself.

Oh, I have the rulebook and spoilers too, but the cross references are hard to follow without page numbers and the fluff pages from the front being left out. Plus I'm a sucker for color

To that point there seem to be 5 pages of fluff missing from the front, so the PDF starts on page 6.

  3.  Sorry to have missed you this weekend.  Where/when were you thinking of running things?  I talked with the manager at Atlantis yesterday and he's planning on ordering the Game Night Kits, and I'll be back there on the 1st of December for the day if not sooner.

Let me know here or in PM.

I'll be in town on Oct 15th and have some time to play that night.  Let me know a time and place and I can meet.

Sounds good. When we get closer to Oct 15th we can choose a place. We can meet at a local game store (one eyed Jacques). I also run a game group at a coffee shop.

Sounds good, just wanted to put the bug in an ear now instead of last minute.

Its been ages since I've been to OEJ but if the coffee house works I'm game for that.

  5.  And I just got this response to two separate questions I sent in.

To ensure accurate and complete information, we are spending time collecting questions and compiling answers for this brand new game. Once this process is complete, we will answer your questions in a timely manner.

    Thank you for your patience!

  6. So this probably seems like a silly thing to be thinking of right now but it is something to be considered.

In most CCG/LCGs you can divide up your cards as you see fit, usually with some organization to them based on Sides/Factions and card type.  With pod sets you're not going to want to do that.  If they're not in your deck you're probably going to want to keep the pods together and simply organize them by Factions.

I was thinking of taking a page from the way I store Dominion.  For each set of 10/12 cards I group them together and stick them in one standard american size sleeve (FFG Gray sized).  I tend to use colored sleeves to delineate the sets and that should work nicely for the Faction pods here.  I just tried this with 6 Warhammer: Invasion cards and they fit in OK.  The problem I had is that while the euro size cards are narrower and taller than these, that group tends to stick out a bit and makes it easy to remove.  Because these are the "perfect" sized sleeve they don't stick out at all, and as they are a bit snug it makes removing them difficult.

Anyone else have thoughts on alternate storage methods?  Or maybe FFG will just solve this for us with tabbed divideors… I'm not holding my breath for that one.

  7.  There are alreasy effects on the objectives.  I remember one of my objectives gave me "+1 reserve" which meant I had a hand size of 8 instead of 7.  Tailoring particular effects to objectives instead of the hand cards gives some uniqueness without being over powering.  Since I can only ever have 3 objectives out at a time and cycling them (as far as we know) is a bad thing, how I choose what's in there can cause interesting effects in the game.  Extra balance too with the pods, have a pretty powerful objective be paired with 1 strength 1 force icon weenies.

  8.  So it just dawned on me that with the exception of the TIE Advanced (I'll only have 2) I'll have enough miniatures to every individual pilot at the same time.  6 X-Wing pilots, 9 TIE fighter pilots, 4 Y-Wing pilots, and 4 TIE Advanced pilots.  It's probably a good thing that CSI is out of stock or I might have to up my pre-order.

Yes, I know. But you can't use it for both, so Focus can't be used for attack AND defense.

His point though was that Marksmanship can only be used for Attack while Focus can be used for Attack AND Defense.  No it can't be used for both in the same turn but it is flexible where Marksmanship is not.  In the context of the whole AND was just as appropriate as OR.

It's mostly a matter of "when", not "if" - I haven't heard of a rules question that FFG hasn't answered. When they're busy, it can take a week or two, when they're not, I've had questions answered within 1-2 days.

And they're apparently busy because I'm still waiting for an answer to this one.  Considering my last post here was on the 31st I'm thinking that's when I sent it in.

  11. Yes.  It's a FFG product.  If you were talking about a second hand dice roller then that'd be a different story.

It's also an official XWing product listed under the "accessories" group right with the Dice pack itself.

The only section I see in the Tournament rules that would reference it is:

"Each player must bring an X-Wing core set and any additional components he needs for his squad. This includes but is not limited to dice, a range ruler, maneuver templates, asteroid tokens and a complete Damage deck."

The "but not limited to" tells me there's room for the dice app.

If the sound is annoying ask your opponent to turn it off, if they try to be a **** about it have the TO peg them for Unsportsmanlike Conduct.  But if you're a **** about asking I'll pull the call right back at you.

I can't tell you how many times I've seen complaints about dice programs not being properly random.  I've proven them out before and never found them to be incorrect.  Not sure I can prove this one, but I see no reason for FFG to produce a skewed dice program and it's not rocket science to call rand().

Hacking, sure it's possible, but not likely.  If it does happen it'll be out there quick, then they can release a new version and TOs can envorce a specific version number.  Build in a check system to make sure it's valid, but that's probably all overkill.

    A few requests:

-Target lock is not included. Obviously that math starts to get really crazy, but it would be interesting to see.

-The obvious permutations with target lock (vs. evasion, vs. focus, with focus vs. evasion, with focus vs. focus)

-This is a bit of a big one, but for straight damage the %chance of multiple hits (example: chance of  2 hits on 3 attack, 3 evasion, attacker has focus, target has focus, etc.)

Target lock will probably be the last thing.. right behind attacking Horton Salm.  Rerolls are a bith just in general, but with Horton there's no decision, with Target lock there's a decision to be made.  Do I just re-roll blanks?  Do I re-roll focus?  I have two hits do I re-roll one to get a critical?

I actually have the base work done on multiple hits, but not the permutations with focus/evade, etc.
