Actually check out the AoR Beginner game. It has a bad in there started out like a vehicle that doesn't move.

CSI has the release date as August 18th. Not sure if that's a recent update or not, but based on shipping history I'd say it's accurate.

Have you considered writing something that would import the data using the XML files provided by the character generator?
I've not. Since I can't use it on my Mac it doesn't usually enter into my thoughts. It's something I'll look into.

Hey all, I've been a bit quiet in these parts for a while. Life has kinda been in the way, heavy load at work, moving, getting a house ready to sell, lots of other little things. But I wanted to let folks know that the Index will still continue. I don't see much coding going on, but I think a lot of things are already there and nothing has broken.
Data input is a little stalled. Lords of Nal Hutta is mostly complete. Desperate Allies and the Force and Destiny launch material hasn't started. I have a copy of DA, but funds for FaD material aren't there until that aforementioned house sells. I do have two others that have the ability to input data, and am willing to entertain others. There's also a couple of corrections that have come in via email, I have to admit that that's gone neglected but I expect to be paying attention to it going forward.
As to the future. I know there's complaints that the site is a little slow. That's partially because I'm running it on a T1.micro inside AWS along with other things I host for personal stuff. One of my near term goals is to convert it over to Google Compute engine for automatic scalability. If this paragraph was too technical, it will get faster, move along

Lastly I just wanted to give my thanks to the many people who have given me kind words regarding the index, I'm glad that it's such a useful tool to many people in the community.

I can play both sides of the argument given. I think the thing to keep in mind though was the wording for provoke was determined before passing was an option. If provoke had been released after the ruling (say in Return to Hoth) then I'd 100% be on board that it supersedes the pass. As it is I think it's definitely a question to go to FFG for an official ruling, perhaps the wording will be changed.

None of the tiles in the Core Set are interior?
No, it's just a case of those were already specified in the Core Rulebook.
Some spaces are considered interior spaces and are affected by some mission rules or keywords such as Massive. Interior spaces form the following tiles: 19A–36A and 19B–36B.
- During a campaign, figures with the Massive keyword cannot enter interior spaces.
- Any space that is not an interior space is an exterior space.
- All spaces on tiles 38A, 39A, 38B and 39B are exterior spaces.
-
So there's effectively only 4 paths through the missions. Still plenty of play time though.
Edit: correction 8.

20 in wave 1
8 in wave 2
3 in wave 3
3 in wave 4
11 in wave 5
So 45 in total. Though I'm not counting Weiss as unique from the AT-ST.
[Edit: I counted total figs in W5 not unique]

----snipped lots of good analysis------
What I noticed that you seemed to have missed is 28 Hero Class cards. So one of the Heroes has an extra card in their deck.

Any idea why FFG can't sell Imperial Assault at Gen Con?
For the same reason they can't sell it on their website either. It's a Board Game and they don't have the license to sell Star Wars board games. All sales of IA product must go through Hasbro's distributors.

Who is the General in the back, can't read his name.
Thanks!
General Veers. ATAT pilot in ESB.
That says General Sorin
Hmm, somewhat disappointing... but it is Return to Hoth.

Dengar, the General, and Echo Base Trooper. Not to mention whatever is in the box.

To be fair, last year's FFG Inflight session made a big splash in terms of the announcement of a host of all new games and expansions to existing games. It created a massive amount of hype overnight and don't think any other company managed to outshine FFG at GenCon '14 in that regard.
They can hardly top that this year, but I'm sure that they will try and that there will be a ton of news when they host this year's Inflight in a few hours. It's nothing short of Christmas for FFG fans.
I saw a wide shot of the display case on twitter and it had many empty spots, so I think plenty of announcements today.
It's better than Christmas!

I really hope they announce some Force Awakens products.
If they do I hope the only thing they announce is their existence and a release date of Dec 22nd. I have hard enough time avoiding spoilers as it is.

They were. From what @thedicetower just posted they are at least out of stock on Twin Shadows. Wouldn't be suprised if they were OOS on all the new packs as well.
-
I don't expect any new rules than we've already seen in previews (habitat). The only thing there will be to release will be the campaign book and we know they won't do that.

I didn't realise it had been on the boat that long! Sweet! What else is in this wave?
Next month could get expensive - Force and Destiny, this stuff, possibly the Raider, am I forgetting anything? I don't think we're expecting an arrival for Armada are we?
Twin Shadows, Fett, Sanos, and the droids.
Make next month cheaper. F&D is shipping now!
-
Everything in this expansion should be arriving these next two weeks. Almost in time for my painting to get done . . . only to do more, hehe.
Whaaaaaat!? Should it!?
It's speculation, but it's reasoned. GenCon is next week, and they will have copies available there. It's already been on the boat for 5 weeks now, so another 2 weeks to land and get out to stores is about normal. I'd say 2 weeks is reasonable, 3 weeks at the most.

could you use C3P0 inform ability twice in one turn?
If you use the 'Single Purpose' command card. Otherwise I don't think so.
Correct, it's still a Special Action Ability and Special Action Abilities can only be used once per turn [RRGp2].
So other than space considerations did we really need two cards for R2? There are no command cards in campaign, so that ability is useless. Are there tech tests in Skirmish? I haven't memorized every mission.
-
They've been on the boat for a while, so I suspect they've airshiped a good stock over just in case.
-
I wouldn't say its necessary to buy two copies, but you do need at least one copy.
Devon Greatwolf reacted to this -
I don't know if this is a cerryover from Descent or some other system they are used to, but this is wrong. The Rest action like any other is resolved immediately, and you can take the action twice for double the benefit.

This isn't a case of FFG not selling board games in their store. When they originally got the license it was only for card, miniatures, and RPGs. Hasbro still holds the license for Board Games. Despite this when the original announcement went out, they listed IA as a board game. When queries about this we were assured that the arrangements were in place.
Fast forward to a month or so before release (but after initial sales at Essen) and things hit the fan. Things got delayed and pre-order prices everywhere were increased. What it boiled down to was Hasbro enforce the board game issue and required that FFG sell IA through Hasbro's distribution channels. In the mean time FFG recatorigized it as a Miniatures game in the site, but the tile board is probably the tipping point and it remains in a caterogization limbo.
Rogue Dakotan reacted to this -
FFG is not allowed to sell IA products directly because of licencing issues for Board Games.

Bring in Vader. Not so that they have to face him directly, but just as a way to call them out.
They're on a mission and they cross paths with him and the base/ship commander as he's leaving. Off screen as a final order to the commander Vader informs him that the team is actually rebel spies and to detain them. Vader leaves and then the whole base is after your PCs.
The PCs don't even have to be captured, who they are becomes known and the false identies get spread out and makes them useless.
