I concur. That "conisered 0" bit is there for cards where you have to make a skill test and then bad things happen by how much you failed them by.

So pulling the tentacle (yeah that doesn't sound dirty at all) on a grasping hands test makes you take 3 damage. Even if you had a agility of, let's say, 5.

Or you could put the Mythos Phase at the start of the turn, so that you end up saving terminology head space and can use a lot more "until the end of the turn" triggers without worrying about making a lot of variant other durational ends.

They went with what they went with. In this case, both bad guy and good guy "until end of turn" effects end at the same time and last until the end of the same turn.

I've played only the first scenario. I've played with 2 and 4 players.
    9 games played so far.
I own everything, including alt art and playmats for LOTR LCG and Netrunner. Netrunner lives on as my favorite two player competitive card game.
AHtCG is, and I don't think I'm basking in the glow, going to completely destroy LOTR for me. It is what I wanted the Pathfinder card game to be. It is what I've wanted many co-op games to be. Even with me knowing the narrative I will still enjoy it for many plays. The chaos bag is better than I expected.
I'm enamored. Seeing abate and Matthew talking about their decisions in designing the game was revealing and I could see everything they talked about in the game itself.
As a long time fan of everything AH related from FFG, I'm giving this 8 tentacles up.
    Edit: iOS corrections
And I will add that the narrative is everything you want out a card game. We cheered, we cried, our group of four were so immersed that leaving the table was traumatic.

Very excited from reading these. Finally decided to pre-order the game, making this the first board/card game that I have ever pre-ordered!

Given my love of co-operative games, Warhammer Quest ACG and RPGs I suppose it's a surprise that I didn't do it earlier. My only reservation was that I'm not the biggest fan of the Lovecraft theme (or horror in general) but given the response so far I'm really looking forward to giving it a try. Tentacles crossed for an early November release...

Wow.  Man, that is some high praise.  I am really excited for AH, but I don't know if I would even want something to be so good as to destroy LOTR for me.

Happycatmachine reacted to eljolly in RtL - Custom campaigns and side quests?
That's a good, point. It's true that you can play Road to legend with just paper. It actually is possible. The fact is that RtL offers a more comfortable way to play that helps the flow of the game itself ( instead of having 90 cards that randomize the special effect of the monster and its actions for the turn, you just have little fancy app ). leaving the eye candy on the table and a more fluid game.
So even if you are completely right, i cant deny RtL is a more comfortable approach to build these kind of coop game. And that is why the original question on the opening post came to my mind.

You are asking for a fundamental UI concept: forgiveness in an app. I know you don't want guesses, so I won't guess. I will however HOPE that FFG had a solid UI designer that understood forgiveness in UI design working for them.

Edit: it doesn't look like there is an undo action. You are asked to confirm anything so hopefully you confirm correctly even though some of the answers use Descent terminology (something I would assume a user was familiar with tbh).

I don't see the need for that. If a player can manage to bring 12 different sphered ents into play and wound them all without losing them - he dam well deserves the benefit

Well your talking to a guy who builds decks to beat Into Ithillien and a number of other quests with no allies in the deck at all. So, dropping allies to chump block to survive the early game is only one way to play the game, and when it comes to building decks i find it one of the easiest strategy to employ in deck building that takes minimal skill.
I do agree that the modern quests allow for more flexibility in starting with high threat. Engagement cost of enemies seems to be higher especially in the current cycle. The Morgul Vale was the last quest that we had that starting under 30 was a big issue.
Much of this comes down to player styles, personal preferences, and the number of players played with. Personally, I like low threat decks, enjoy shooting for secrecy decks. I like attachment heavy decks, which often take a bit of set up time etc. I'm a solo player so it's easier to control the pace of the game to build decks with the parameters that I like. Also in solo game, i don't have any other players decks to help me out where my deck is lacking, so starting with higher threat decks in multiplayer is often easier, since the team of players can work together with ranged and sentinel heroes to work it out. In solo some of these higher threat decks just get swamped early on and it's tough for them to recover without any help.

We played it so that we read and resolved the legend card as soon as the marker enters the space on the Legend track. It seems to work well that way, so far (we are at Legend 2)
