  1. Sure, if you don’t mind not getting your dice back because you didn’t know your opponent and forgot to count your dice to make sure you had them all or you were rushed out of the venue area due to outside circumstances, by all means loan away.
  2. Thane is a symptom of the real problem with this game: FFG needs to recruit new players. The conversion kits did what FFG needed them to do with the vets, making them spend money in order to keep playing the game with the new wave of players they’re hoping to reach. I’ve said it before, the only thing wrong with first edition is the same thing that’s wrong in any pay to play game after 5 years. There are too many products on the market for a new player to feel comfortable. So sales wane as the vets leave and design space narrows. But a conversion kit leaves a new player with the same problem. What good is a $40-50 kit to someone who just bought a starter? Their ships had better be up to the challenge. So guess which ships are gonna have the over top options? You guessed it - x-wings and TIEs. If that’s a problem for you, if that infuriates you, don’t get too down. Third edition is only five years or less away... if FFG keeps the license that long.
  3. Maybe they can make a $30 card pack that fixes it with specific cards...
  4. I’d settle for truth in advertising from FFG, but I’m not sure how we got from my statement to yours. If you bought a car and the manufacturer told you the car had all the parts in it when you bought it, but then you found out the car didn’t have a radiator even though you were told it would, would that mean you want the moon on a stick?
  5. I made one on the app but it won’t save without overwriting a different squad and I can’t figure out how to actually make a new one. I don’t have that many squads saved on my list.
  6. Customers heard what they wanted to hear, and either chose to ignore or simply forgot who they were dealing with. To answer the OP question, afterburner is not where the thinly veiled vague promise went off the rail for me. Instead, discovering that I cannot field certain combos of pilots without extra kits was where I lost interest. It doesn’t help that my local player base of more than 50 first ed. players went completely AWOL the day 2.0 came out. I’ve played more 1.0 games than 2.0 games since the release.
  7. For me it was Horton Salm. I loved my “38 Special,” a 38pt. build Horton that never missed a TLT shot. I figured it was over for him. But I’ve really been enjoying this: BTL-A4 Y-wing - Gray Squadron Bomber - 37 Gray Squadron Bomber - (32) Seismic Charges (3) Skilled Bombardier (2) RZ-1 A-wing - Jake Farrell - 42 •Jake Farrell - Sage Instructor (40) Composure (2) BTL-A4 Y-wing - Gray Squadron Bomber - 40 Gray Squadron Bomber - (32) Proximity Mines (6) Skilled Bombardier (2) BTL-A4 Y-wing - Horton Salm - 80 •Horton Salm - Gray Leader (38) Lone Wolf (4) Ion Cannon Turret (6) Adv. Proton Torpedoes (6) R4 Astromech (2) Proximity Mines (6) Shield Upgrade (4) Bistan (14) Total: 199/200 View in the X-Wing Squad Builder Your opponent either takes his ships through your minefield or follows the path you lay out for him, right into an ion trail that pushes him into the second round of bombs.
  8. I convert to pdf and email myself, then print from superior software.
  9. This sums up my objection to the app. It’s the justification for them to be even “scummier,”as you call it with their point costs and upgrade bars when really what they should be doing is holding themselves accountable to their customers. Mistakes is one thing but intentionally overpowering the product just to sell out and then nerf it into worthlessness is about as greedy as it gets. It’s why so many people left 1.0 in the first place.
  10. My conversion kit had those cards in an extra bag, almost like it was a last minute decision to add them.
  11. The dial allotment is fairly well done. 1 more A-wing instead of a yt-1300 dial makes more sense to me but marketing and customer sense rarely mix.
  12. 2 Rebel YT-1300s dials and I can’t fly Han and Chewbacca side by side with 1 kit. Can’t fly 2 contracted scouts, or the whole team of Rebel TIE Swarm for that matter. I could name others with more time but I’ve made the point. So no, it’s not a complete game, in the sense that I can’t use every element provided in any combination.
  13. If you really believe that, then you haven’t been paying attention to how game companies operate.
  14. I haven't played it yet. I don’t have 7 jumpers. But it won a tournament, in the UK I believe.
  15. So I guess few people saw this coming but now that it is, I still don’t see any real chatter about it. 6 Jakku Runners and Unkar. I’m anticipating a point cost change on this one, but in the meantime looks like this is a thing.
  16. Not to go off topic, but don’t get me started on NDAs at Wizards of the Coast... or FFG for that matter. It was worse than being in law enforcement. I know people there (WotC) who weren’t even supposed to tell anyone - even other people at the company - that they worked there! One guy I know who worked there said he was a Secret Service Agent. ?
  17. When i hit create new squad, it wants to overwrite an existing squad.
  18. Thinking about the fact that whoever would be designing the app had the same amount of notice that everyone else at the company did about what was coming out, it reminded me of my old Magic days when people who worked on the digital version were intentionally kept out of the loop about what new cards were coming until just a few days before the set dropped. The game crashed for about a week every single time there was a update for the new expansion. If that’s what happened here, if the IT team is being kept in the dark, or only received the info as an afterthought, we can expect this to be an issue with each new wave going forward.
  19. I just saw this part and have to say I disagree. The app isn’t the worst thing about 2.0, but it sure as **** isnt the best thing. The most frustrating part of 1.0 over the years was watching the pendulum swing of a new product from OP to boost market sales to total nerf to the point the ship was no longer playable. And now we have an app that validates that approach completely. It gives permission for the designers to be sloppy and reckless with design choices so that new shineys will always be the new hotness no matter what it does to the game. It doesn’t inspire confidence when your message to people is, “We are going to continue to screw up so now you have to use our software to make the product you bought less playable.” More than that, it’s no longer possible for me to determine by looking at my opponent’s cards if they are cheating, either intentionally or by mistake. Lastly, 1.0 isn’t the first time we’ve had a closed game or a dead game with people still playing it. The best thing you said in this discussion is that there will be no more meddling from FFG, which now that you’ve put that thought in my head makes me glad I didn’t dump my 1.0 components.
  20. The “at least it’s not 40k” is the equivalent of the “but Hillary” rhetorical response in that discussion. If two people punch you in the face but only one is strong enough to break your teeth, does that make the weaker person any less of a bully? I have a large fleet as well, 16 TIEs at last count including Rebels, but I didn’t drop a lump sum on that collection. And what I got with each purchase was a playable component for the game. My purchase of 1 of each product of 2.0 does not even provide a complete game with the ships that were converted.
  21. 0-0-0 is only available in Scum pack, even though he can be played with Vader.
  22. You don’t bite the hand that feeds you...
