Kaijudo reacted to Ascarel in To sleeve or not to sleeve
I do like FFG sleeves for all sizes except Standard. I use clear sleeves for storage only, and FFG sleeves are too expensive. Given their quality, they feel quite excessive for that purpose. At the other end of the spectrum, I've always found Mayday, even the Premium ones, feeling a bit cheap to the touch. I've always used Ultra-Pro Clear Standard. That silly logo at the bottom never gets in the way of my happiness, because again I use clear sleeves only for storage.
With Marvel Champions specifically, I've decided to sleeve everything ready for play at all times. I use Matte Dragonshields.
I have a large stock of FFG's Netrunner art sleeves and I loved both their feel and their size. I've recycled them for my Keyforge decks. The day we get equivalent sleeves for Marvel Champions, I might switch, depending on the art, but considering the new Gamegenic sleeves for Keyforge, which are different (I still like them though, as they are matte), I believe the future of FFG sleeves runs through them (Gamegenic is part of Asmodée).

Kaijudo got a reaction from Derrault in To sleeve or not to sleeve
Read the thread, how come you all don't use the recommended FFG card sleeves? I've been using them since Android Netrunner, they're great and always even cut. I have a bunch of Mayday sleeves I use for backup if I don't have the FFG sleeves at the moment. Right on the core box they tell you how many FFG sleeves you need and what sizes. I like FFG sleeves because there's room at the top opening of the sleeve, it's great at keeping the cards fully protected while shuffuling. Mayday leaves no space at the top so I'm always worried about the edges of the cards.

Kaijudo reacted to Hyperjayman in Why Scenario Pack?
FFG owns the game mechanics license. They can use it however they want for IP’s they own. They got to use Marvel characters with a deal from Marvel. If they wanted to they could talk to DC about using their characters. The game is still new, but highly in demand, so they won’t change anything yet.
Do note that there is another Amalgam (Marvel/DC cross-over) event supposedly coming to the comics again. First one happened in the late 90’s. So maybe we could see DC heros in the game eventually

Kaijudo reacted to phillos in Please consider making the game harder
Considering both LOTR LCG and AH TCG went back and made harder mods to old scenarios I think we can feel pretty safe that they will do that here at some point as well. Also what modular set you pick to add to the villain deck can wildly swing the challenge in my opinion.
OP I assume you are actually playing on the expert difficulty. I agree that standard difficulty is a bit on the easy side, but I do find that expert has some teeth. Also I tend to throw the harder modular villain sets in there. Nothing is gonna make Rhino challenging though. He's basically the tutorial scenario.

Kaijudo reacted to The Team in Please consider making the game harder
Yeah this makes sense. I’m pretty excited for the story box to se what they have in there and I really hope it’s a jump up from even Mutagen.
The thing that’s being talked about in my playgroup though is the new villain content release schedule. We’re all really excited for the new heroes being released (seriously Black Widow looks awesome!) but what we’re having is 3 months of new hero content that only looks to make the existing already not difficult encounters even less difficult.
Again I’m totally new to FFG LCG’s but what we were kind of hoping for in the villain release schedule is something that we could really sink our teeth into for the three months while waiting for new encounters and that it might take that three months with all the new heroes and player cards to feel like we really had a handle on it. Instead we play the scenarios and then begin trying to think of ways to make the scenarios more challenging ( @KennedyHawk2 has some great home brew environments for each encounter) and honestly that has been its own kind of fun, it’s just different than we thought.
We started to wonder how it would be if each hero pack had a new modular encounter (or even a modular environment which I think would be cool) rather than extra aspect cards. I think that runs counter to the model FFG has for this game so I don’t think that works necessarily. Just some way of making it so existing encounters don’t get stale while we’re getting new, more powerful ways of beating it while waiting for the next villain.
Incidentally I like the achievements that have been released for the core set heroes and encounters. Some of those are legitimately hard. Maybe all that’s needed is each hero/encounter to also be released with a new achievement list specific to that pack and that’s a method of upping the challenge.
And hopefully in the future they do what they did with Arkham and release something that makes past encounters more challenging.

Well let's hope they do said things, but they do need to later on revisit core villians to make them harder imo

Kaijudo reacted to HirumaShigure in Why Scenario Pack?
One of the designers has got to be in the office kicking the ideas around on how to make Civil War a reality, or how to make the Villains playable.
I've been thinking about how to turn Minions or Nemesis minions into villains and mashing them up with other nemesis or encounter sets to make more generic scenarios. The Wrecking Crew, although somewhat lacking, does really show what design space this game still has to branch out.

Kaijudo got a reaction from TechnoGolem in Why Scenario Pack?
I think they're called scenario packs because they're more then just a villain, they're like mini story lines. I think of this game like it's a co op boss battle from a tabletop RPG like D&D... you, or you and your team, have a mission to complete and a big bad to take down. The game is also called "Marvel Champions The Card Game" there is a tabletop RPG called "Marvel Champions" so there maybe some inspiration from that.

Kaijudo reacted to Derrault in Core Set. No frills. How are you going?
You can also use it to stand up after getting exhausted by an encounter card. It’s pretty helpful for something like One-Two punch

Kaijudo got a reaction from HaphazardNinja in Destiny has now met its destiny, FFG has just killed the game off
I think the game was screwed from jump. I have one core set that I found by luck at my local Gamestop... For a few months I would call different Gamestops asking if they had any new packs, they never had packs even though it was listed as a product they sold in stores. I don't think FFG put the effort in to make the game easily available for people to pick up and play. Online Shopping shouldn't be the only place to get a few packs of cards.

You can always play the game with the collection you have now. Or make Proxies.

Kaijudo got a reaction from The Steel Unicorn in FFG Being FFG Again
Right! I agree with you 100%.... It's not a good business model either. It's the same with that Star Wars Destiny (It's a TCG), I was lucky and found the last core set at my local gamestop, but they never have random packs. It's like FFG gives them like one box or they're not asking for it. I can;t tell which it is.

Haven't played but if the rules say max 5; you can play max 5. With all do respect to people that take time out of their day to review board games, card games, I always ignore them when they say playing with the max amount of players breaks a game.

Kaijudo got a reaction from Atomisk in I Have A Bad Feeling About This...As Usual (FFGs Lack of Support for Destiny)
I can't agree or disagree about Destiny tournaments being boring because haven't been to any.
I do disagree with you about what makes for a competitive game. A game doesn't have to have a lot of depth to be competitive, they have tournaments for, rock, paper, scissors, lol... I think a game just has to be fun, balanced, and you already have a winner just with that.

That's a cool idea!
Players can implement that in their p0rivate play, or in draft play.

Kaijudo got a reaction from dr00 in Can't win as corporation with core set
See the thing is, the OP shouldn't need to buy another core or any expansion, if they don't want to. The core set should be balanced. With that said, I have no idea if the OP is right because I can't get any of my friends into the game to learn it in and out. I've played a handful of games online, but the players are either to advanced and want to speed through the game, or I play people with very experimental decks. I'm guessing the core set is balanced because of all the work and passion for the game I know the devs put into it. So I'm going to guess the OP may not be playing right, or not bluffing enough.
