  1. The paint jobs all look great. Looks even better when I turn my head sideways to see the pictures :-P
  2. Gimp said: I think it has more to do with learning curves than actual balance. Armies that use maneuver are traditionally harder to learn to play well than armies that use defensive capabilities. In the end, they are frequently just as powerful, but they take more effort to learn how to get the most out of them. Once you know how to use maneuver armies, they are frequently stronger, but it takes more effort to get there. A lot of players I know also prefer the look of the Axis models, though I have no idea how prevalent that is overall. I like them both, though for different reasons. If more players play Axis, that will also impact tournament rankings due to sheer volume. Not to mention if too many axis players get used to playing their armies as a defensive force, they will not know how to adjust their tactics to accomplish a mission against another defensive axis player. Plus you will need to play a diverse army list. Too many players play games all of the time with ALL of their minis in every game. Games don't have to be big to be fun. And buy more than just enough minis.
  3. I'm debating on going. It might be my first time actually playing with my minis. Imperial Outpost Games said that someone is trying to start a Tuesday night league up there. But they don't sell the minis.
  4. Bengal Tigers were a good idea. Makes me wonder what other beasts could be converted.
  5. zuggzugg said: Thanks man. I'm trying to come up w/ a color scheme for my troops. Seems to be the hardest part! I like the ones you've done a lot. I do like the classic germans in black/grey as well. Decisions...decisions. No kidding. I just dropped $77 on paints today and I hope I bought the right colors that I will like on the minis.
  6. Loophole Master said: Hahaha. I never saw the original V (nor the new one for that matter, not beyond the pilot episode), but yeah, I can see the similarity. Way to ruin my Ozz... ^ LOL! That is the real deal.
  7. Check out the comics for a peek.
  8. Those do look really nice. And I don't think the prices are out of line at all.
  9. Great thread! Good job on the minis!
  10. Are you all mostly sticking to historical paint themes, or have some of you gone out on a real limb and done your own crazy thing? And pics please!
  11. I'm just more interested for collecting purposes. And yeah DT is played as more of an SF Det than a real company based battle.
  12. My approach when using metallic paints is to not paint 100% of the metallic surface. And to basecoat it in a much darker shade of metallic. For example use black and metal mixed together on 80% of the surface, then paint over in your primary metallic about 50% of the surface. Kind of like how shading is doneon a tattoo. In a few days I'll post a pic so it will make more sense.

  14. I think FFG should illustrate what an appropriately balanced Company, as well as Battalion looks like. That way we an see how rare some of the units should be. Such as jump squads, and how much of a real force they really represent. With my IG army in 40k I try to keep an appropriate balance going for my themed Battle Company. Well, for every TOE you almost always have an M-TOE. So each collector can put their own flair into their organization.

  16. By all Means, keep the vrill out of the game as an army. I dropped a big WTF when I saw gorillas. I still don't care for them. I'm cool with zombies, but don't want them taking them too far We need to keep it Sci-fi WW2 ish. Not aliens and monsters. I like the mad scientist aspect too. There needs to be a dark secret behind the Axis. After all they are supposed to be the one true enemy in the game. Like in Tannhauser, I see a later development of Japanese inspired warriors to be totally appropriate. What next, they discover the hollow earth to be true, and expand into unknown territory?
  17. Color wise for brick and rocks I start with a Shadow Grey basecoat, then get dryer and dryer in my layers as I move through mixes of Codex through Fortress.
  18. Get a HUGE drybrush. Like the one GW used to sell for terrain painting. You don't want to see the brush strokes on large terrain pieces.
  19. JigBakerSugar said: That's because NMM is for little girls. It is a big PITA, but from a battlefield perspective it really makes a difference. The idea is to make a 1 inch tall model with a 1/3 inch rifle look like a 6 foot tall soldier with lifesize equipment from far away. Im going to go brush my Barbie's hair now.
  20. I like it. It's the first real 3D attempt ive seen
  21. I don't want to see period correct vehicles etc in the game. I like the Sci-fi aspect. But on that note I would like tracked vehicles, as well as possibly an Axis motorbike squad. And some Machine Gun teams. And Allied Mortor teams.
  22. With the impending release of Dust Warfare, do you anticipate that adding to the experience of the Dust Tactics game? Or are you afraid that it will draw the spotlight and take away from what the current game has to offer? As well as influencing future development and releases towards that specific style of gameplay. Tawk amongst yourselves.
  23. I would lik a little Tannhauser integration. I like some of their minis. Afterall, the apes and zombies made it in to Dust Tactics already.
  24. Rockole said: I bought th new Dust Tactics tile set and am very dissipointed in them as they warp while playing the game, has anyone else had this problem. I end up playing in a set of bowles instead of flat terrain tiles! Oh, that would piss me off. I want the tiles though. Don't want the maps. Anyone make a custom game board yet?
