I do not agree with most of the points you wrote, so just the few cents that bug me the most.
Basicly I do not think that Heroes are overpriced, issue is, that heroes are badly synergised and also, there is a stupidly undercosted Stormtrooper on Villain side, which does not have its matchh and boy just imagine how much you would be ****** up on Villain pairings without this boy for 7. Heroes have quite a lot of semi-cheap elite characters on lvl of 10-14 points, which makes them viable for interesting builds. And I like them for that. On the other hand, I really do not like to see when they release something extra pricey, as there really is not much option where you can pair 18-20 point cost characters unfortunately (Maz made some difference now fortunately).
Jyn Erso is definitely not overcosted, she is flatout the best Heroe main character in Spirit of Rebellion, her only challenger can be Maz, which is unfortunately only sidekick so their roles are totally different. Characters with passive ability has to be pricey as the give you basicly 3rd die with 100% sure outcome. Vader has discard, Luke draw, Solo has shields and Jyn resource. Of course, you can only use it on yellow events, on the other way, your opponent can not disrupt it. If you think these abilities are somehow lame or mundane, than you really underestimate them and believe me, new supports with passive abilities activating on roll of certain type of dice side are going to rock for the very same reason. Back to Jyn, we look atz character with double 2 ranged, which is on Han Solo level (as his second is paid) and than you have two discard sides for free and resource. You really can not ask for more for mill deck as the sides are perfectly selected and Jyn is the first card making the Hero mill looks promising, as it will have extra cash to get the pricey cards out, it will have damage threat, it will have consistent mill. And she is rare and not legendary.

I found the corner case nevertheless:
your opponent has Ackbar
the upgrade you are playing is your last card in hand
FN is your only character
FN is at 2 or less damage from death
This is the only possibility it occurs to me (and it needs your opponent to control the bf too..) but maybe there are other cases, with the new or even the old cards.
This is not correct:
You claim, so you control the BF, you resolve claim ability. Than there are two after abilities (Ackbar´´´s and FNs). As you control the battlefield, you choose the order of resolving. You resolve FN first, than Ackbar.
If able is there only for a case, when there would be a weapon upgrade without dice, or in case, there would be some other passive effect prohibiting to roll that die. Nothing more, nothing less.

To the topic. Luminara is too expensive for my taste. FN-2199 is on the other hand IMO one of the best three new villain charracters together with Aurra Sing and Palpatine.

This is definitely not true, but whatever, internet experts gonna post this nonsense all the time.
Fast Hands and Force Speed effectively takes two upgrade slots and Force Speed has only 50% chance on working. I would be very happy if you take 2 upgrade slots and 4 card slots in deck with these cards. They are for most of the decks pointless.
-
- ePalpatine
- eJango + Aurra Sing or eAurra Sing + Jango
- eJango + eFN-2199
- ePhasma + Trroper + TIE Pilot
- FN2199 + Count Dooku + Royal Guard
- eJyn Erson + Temmin
- eHan/ePoe + eMaz
Unfortunately I really do not see any other interesting new pairings for Heroes. I like only Maz and Jyn from new characters, the rest does not have good pairings or are too expensive. I am mainly dissapointed from Mon Mothma which has totally weird cost and effect.
It really depends on new events, as there could be something motivating to play some weird character combination.

This nonstop whine is really annoying. How many people here really played some hyperloop deck before? I did and that deck is not even competitive tier 1 and it is hardly somehwere in tier 2.
Hyperloop is not reliable and it definitely will not be reliable with the card pool in SoR. First of all you need the Falcon. Than you need resources to get it in the game (good luck when you do not have Poe), than you need the Hyperspace Jump and than you need the time and skill to not loose on tie braker. Most of the times, you will end in end of turn 2 with someone dead (like Maz), GG. Build the deck, play it against someone who is competitive player and than make judgements. As long as there is not something which really helps to have the combo in opening hand, I really do not care about this deck, it often looses just beacuse you do not draw correct cards. If you want to win the tournaments, you have to win in bad pening hand situations. I draw well win is viable only for something like 3-3, which is not sufficient even for the top cut.
And whine about the Force Speed is also ridiculous. Most of the people on the internet is constantly whining about this game, where only reason behind has to be pure fact, that they do not have much game experience with different decks in competitive meta. It is getting boring already.

As far as I have read the full 60 new dice cards and can compare them as I managed to get all the info saved and analyzed it quuicly in Excel today.
Despite the impression I had during preview articles, Heroes are not much in better position. Overall, I found out, that the set itself is definitely not power creep and in terms of usefullness of the cards, half of them are IMO crap.
Regarding characters: most of the new characters does not improve old pairings much or at all. Most of the new characters are expensive and low health, so you can forget about too many new 4 dice pairings. eVader from Awakenings has a new viable blue pairing, however it is most probably not better than Tusken Raider. Jango does not have viable new 4 dice pairing at all., you can maybe think about the new elite Stromtrooper with him, however you have to change the deck to some melee/ranged mixture. Aurra Sing is definitely best new yellow villain character. However, good potential in play of 3 dice Aurra+Jango or 4 dice Aurra/Jango + Bala-Tik with Fight Dirty is still not interesting, as all of the new yellow upgrades are with exception of low damage capacity yellow gun, strictly control oriented or melee and expensive.
From what I can see, the most gifted colour in SoR Villains is Red. They have cheap characters, dice which improve what they already had in Awakenings and some already strong options like ePhasma + Trooper + another one for 8 is going to rock. Also I start to beleive that eVees can be now a fun deck oriented on vehicles, however I am pretty sure that it will not be competitive, as vehicles remains slow, no matter the Quadjumper.
Hero side from character point of view is total mess and except Jyn and Maz I really do not see anything worth playing. For example new Obi-Wan is really a disappointment, as despite the fact that the card is strong, it does not have any suitable pairing. If you play regular Obi-Wan, there is very little to play with him as an elite pairing for 14 or less, most of them are sidekick character not able to do anything on their own... Red hero does not have cheap combat characters for its a trap deck at all, except the non-uniqe commando I do not like any of them as Baze is expensive, Mothma and Temmin are control oriented. Blue is only colour with melee for heroes in SOR, however most of them are far too expensive (Luminara is Good but QGJ point level) or can not use force abilities (Chirrut hello). The same issue Obi-Wan has, works also for Chewbacca. His only reasonable pairing is Rey.
Regarding the new upgrades and supports, apart from few very powerful and cheap cards, I do not see much. C_3PO and Temptation of the Force are definitely beasts because of their brutal flexibility. I do not believe that new vehicles will be competitve.
I have to admit, that this said above is given from the current meta perspective. Do not expect to significantly improve your current deck, as really, SoR is totally different. Only deck that can become broken and I expect to go over the limit is Poe. There is stupid amount of cards where he can abuse that special and I am really not sure how many ways we will have to stop him. I can also see a major improve of discard and disrupt control decks and it can be a thing now. It has to be playtested.
If I could have a look into future, I suppose there will be two tpe of decks in meta - heavy disrupt and discard controls and really cheap aggro decks. I really do not think that expensive combat decks like Luke is now, will be competitively playable in the future. Discard and disrupt is probably going to be real issue.

Omg, again freakout show on forum...
Buhallin can you pelase enlighten me on your gaming experience? Did you won some serious tournaments or you are just an internet troll? Because your over-reaction is just hillarious.
Force Speed is just ok legendary. The biggest issue of it is the fact, that it is perfect card to play on sidekick character to your main, in the same way as Holocron is used in Vader/Raider deck. Force Speed really does not allow you to have it on big blue character like Vader, roll him and resolve which means that it is highly losing potential. You are definitelly not cheating like Jango does and it is also worse than Tactical Mastery, which allows you to roll + resolve your main character on the beginning of the turn no matter what you have on table. You have to play it on blue character, so I really do not see too many decks where to play this. I can imagine Rey + Poe to be good target for this and than maybe Rey + Han (however in both you just want to activate Han/Poe before Rey, so still it is very limited). Chirrut looks also like good sidekick, but guess what, he can not posses this. Blue Villain does not have good blue sidekick character, only exception will be maybe Kylo with New Vader, however that deck will be anyway **** because of lack of resources and disrupt fragility. Other than this, it is usually nothing interesting and unless they will reveal some really usefull high HP low cost blue character, than this card is fine. I will not even play it in my blue deck and I am definitelly not going to play it in Palpatine deck.
Main problem is that the card has 0 cost. At that price point it should not have focus side, the shield one is probably ok. Any die for 0 resource is always awsome, that is the biggest issue of the card, its effect is not game braking, but somewhere in good/mundane range.

According to the numerical system, I suppose there happened few things.
First of all, because Chewbacca is 43, than I suppose that they moved grey cards behind yellow ones in numerical order, so the sequence is Red Villain - Blue Villain - Yellow Villain - Grey Villain - Red Hero - Blue Hero - Yellow Hero - Grey Hero. This makes sense, as including the neutral cards in the middle was somehow a mess (eventhough it was given by alphabetical meaning of command, force, neutral, rogue). I may be wrong, but in that case, there is only one grey card for hero and for villains instead of 2.
Also there is pretty clear, that each combination has 8 cards, grey has most probably 2. This corresponds to Awakenings set.
160 card set would be aequate to wawakenings, where we had 174 cards but 14 of them were starters. If this is the case, we can expect 60 different cards with die, 17 legendaries and 43 rare.
In such case, there is only 8 cards with die falling into neutral category, expectedly 2 from each colour.
From what we know, we cannot confirm so far, that each faction will still have 4 cracters and 4 upgrades/supports. In each case is so far possible, that there is only 3 characters.
If 4 characters are the reality, than we have some clues to some of the caracters:
1 Red Viillain has to fit aplhabetically between Death Trooper and Director Krennic.
1 Blue Villain has to be alphabetically befor Darth Vader and one will be after Palpatine.
2 Blue Hero will be alphabetically before Obi-Wan (1 of them is Chirrut Imwe) and One will be after Obi Wan.
1 Yellow hero will be after Maz Kanata.
Now my wishes:
I would like to see Assaj Ventress for Blue Villains or Darth Maul or fingers crossed - Supeme Leader Snoke. Kanan Jarrus / Ashoka Tano for Hero side.
We also do not know anything about Red Hero and Yellow Villain (except IG-88). My wish there is Boba Fett and Hera Syndulla.
EDIT: to hype the Aftermath trilogy which I love - Gallius Rax and Mr. Bones would be hot.
-
It will be something with Death and I suppose it wont be character.

Same as with the Lord of the Rings Card game:
Investigator / Fellowship cards stored in collectors album with 9 slot ultra pro sheets.
Player decks sleeved in Dragon Shield matte sleeves.
Encounter cards sleeved in FFG clear sleeves and stored in Dragon Shield 300cards box, where you can store in one Big Expansion + full 6pack cycle.
Issue in LotR is, that you have Nightmare decks, which has to be separately stored as they do not get inside together with full cycle (too many cards).
Tokens in Hobby Bit box.

Ok I made few more tries so these are my points:
- I definitelly miss the option to get away from Midnight Masks before midnight, thank for noting. With full hand in Devourer Below, game is playable (still not win-able for me).
- Despite the fact, that I love puzzle-thinking in Midnight Mask of how to get all the clues on the map + as many Cultists as possible, I did not managed to get over 3. 4 is doable with some luck which I did not had, 5 or 6 is according to me undoable without some miracles. Biggest issues in term of play are Wizard accolytes, which you just have to kill with cards and actions you need elsewhere, than Masked Hunter (usually I spent full Shrivelling and some boosts on him - that means I basically do not have any attacks left for Wolf-men). Map has in total max 12 clues, usually only 11. You need 10 to summon all Cultists, doctor eats 2 more etc. Despite the fact that I almost always pick up all clues quickly, it is really tough to get all cultists summoned on map.
- In Devourer Below, there is only 3-4 clues on map before you can advance to Act 2a (and in 66% it is only 3). Which means have nothing left after Act 1a. This also makes more issues, as cards like Dr. Martin are useless in this game. Also the encounter deck is shuffled 2 or 3 times, so Scrying is nerfed as hell. You desperately need a Disc for advancement to Ritual Site, otherwise it is usually game over. To get through 3 Cultists on Main Path, you need to Parley + Mind Over Matter Evade Wolf-Man + Move to Ritual Site. Next turn Parley second one in case you have health to survive the run and attack from the remained Cultist. This results in situation, when I stand on Ritual Site, summoned monster killed by Disc, Wolf Men stucked on Main Path, and I need to get 2 clues from there and use them to close the ritual (again ffs, agility or will test :-/) and I have more than often only last doom left for this. Plus to top that, almost half of encounter cards you can draw there will finish the game for you (usually any monster + half of the treacheries).
- I really have a feeling that this is punishing to Daisy to much. Only stat she dominates is Lore, she does not have any significant amount of clues there, almost every test in the scenario is not Lore including half of investigating, you do not have any option how to get down the group of cultist on Main Path... I mean, really?

My deck: http://arkhamdb.com/deck/view/3415
I play solo with one investigator only, I have two core sets. Difficulty standard.
Midnight Masks - it is not even remotely possible to do all 6, at least with Daisy. So you get to The Devourer Below after midnight.
The Devourer Below - you start with 3 cards in hand only. I usually get discarded something essential like Dr. Martin or Scrying of course. Also if I understand correctly, you first get the Weakness cards into play and than you discard 2 cards for "after midnight", right?
With Daisy crippled already from beginning and 2 points on agenda already, I am basically stuck down by the first monster that appears when agenda advances to 2a. The Woods are not even connected with each other until they are all turned up, so you have to walk always through the Main Path.
Is this seriously somehow playable with Daisy on solo? Or I am really doing something wrong? (Not even trying to think about the Hard or Nightmare version). It is really ridiculous.

Ah thank you very much for answers.
Ok, than I played it wrong as I put Spiders Glade into play immediately and draw 1 spider every turn to stage 4. Still beat it anyway

Hi all,
I believe this is my first post here. I play and collect the game fr quite several years already, but never had actually time to play really every quest I have. I just recently started to play Hobbit saga and I found few questions that I have an issue to answer regarding the scenario Flies and Spiders.
Please not that I play true solo - only one deck.
1) Quest 2B including the errata. If I understand correctly, when I am the only player playing the game, it will look like this:
I finish 1B, open 2B, 3A+B stage will be started for my fellowship (everyone except Bilbo unconcious, every resource gone). In same time 4B will be started, moving whole staging area with it, Spiders Glade added. Since there is noone on stage 4. 2B is discarded away.
So far I think it is clear. Now.
When I play through with my Bilbo on 3B and noone is on 4B, does the Spiders Glade Forced effect trigger? I played in a way that yes, but I have to say, that it is quite cruel in that way and I am suspicious that I played it wrong, as there is maybe no quest phase to start, when there is no player. (same will apply if all the heroes/players on stage 4 dies).
2) What will happen with venom if I do not have draw deck? I have quite fast drawing deck playing Ents, so I was gone with cards on 3B already. Does it mean, that I can not get poison afterwards?
Thank you anyone for input.

Hero vs Villians Character cost
in Star Wars: Destiny
Posted
Veers is not better than double Troopers in all cases except when you have some vehicles in deck.
Double Troopers are i.e. nobrainer better choice for eJango pairing than Veers.
Ragrading the 15pt. characters, they would not be viable so much, in case there would not be Trooper for 7. This fact is hilarious and it makes all the pairings on Villain side so good. Nothing else is an issue.
Luke is still good option for 20 pts., the card draw is a guaranteed one more reroll. The focus side on him is mundane in the same way as disrupt is on Vader, in both cases, you usually do not want to resolve the die with this side, when you give up on 3 melee possibility. I see only one issue with Luke - the fact that card draw on him is not optional. This is huge downfall against mill. Vader is better, but he is more expensive and remember, that with each point on the 20-23 range, you vastly closes your pairing options. If Vader would be 22, than there would be no possible viable pairing to him in both sets.
Anyway I can promise you, that Luke + Maz will be tier 1. I am pretty sure. Yellow Hero is definitely best colour for them now, on Villain side I am not so sure, seems to me that Red is going to rock like truck. I can see 4 dice red pairings (like Phasma, Tie Pilot, Trooper, or simillar combinations with Veers and FN-2199 etc) and a full load of weapons, most of them redeployable, + new red crazy things I saw in full spoiler. That deck will definitely not care about your speed and resolving Vaders two dice, when it returns with tons of damage.
The biggest disappointment to me is new Red Heroes, I am really not sure, what to think of them, there is too much tricks but low impact... I have to really think about it, but I am not so happy regarding the Hero Red.
