Why the **** would anyone reasonable play Graveyard and Cheat in that deck. If you want to cycle thermals to win more against 3-4 character decks, good luck with it when playing against hard counter decks like ePalpatine. Everytime someone writes things like this during some complains regarding Poe/Maz, I really doubt he knows what is he writing about.
I understand that not everyone has complete palysets of both editions, but there is still TTS, where you can test various decks with access to all cards. Once you do this, you will find out, that teching against Poe in any incarnation is not so difficult and to be honest only issue is Thermal in case you play 3 or 4 character decks (and you still have to draw it). There are decks which can spike much more damage and I personally have experienced decks killing my Poe round 1 (by damage not Crime Lord).
Maybe its time to ask people to first mention the decklist they play before the discussion even begins.
@Tierdal: I am not going to share the decklist before Europeans but Bigulf have quite a good one to start with (I still have differences but he is closest).

Everyone saying that Poe/Maz is the easy deck to play and autopilot etc etc. go on SWDestiny DB and look for them. There is currently only 3 Poe / Maz decklists (one is in several alterations by same author) with the correct battlefield. So if it is so easy, why the heck is 90% of these people not able to even build their deck correctly. TTS is full of not optimized decklists where i have 95% win rate with villain Jabba/Vader Mill. If you have a look on store champs, there is a lot of Poe/Maz in TOP4 but they are not alone there and they are along with other aggro builds (Vader Raider, ePalp).
I was here since December 1st and that Jango/Veers deck was exactly the same story and to top of that, that deck was really autopilot unlike Poe/Maz which really is not (especially when you play against control decks).
Build some decent blue Sith deck with Kylo, or Palpatine deck, or fast mill deck, include the dice removal in your card pool in more amount than those pathetic two cards and go to win a tournament.
The only reason Poe/Maz is steamrolling now is because everyone else is playing tier 3 nightmares without dice removal, shield or any other mitigation.
To add 2 other topics to this discussion:
1) In case they will screw Poe, it will definitely reduce the current aggro capacity of meta with possibly only Vader / Raider remaining as viable aggro deck (since ePalp is really bad once the opponent has some removal in his deck) + maybe some blue hero where you need extreme amount of luck to roll what you need. In such a case, the meta will go exactly the opposite way than today - make a 30+ hp controll mill and good luck to defeat this without proper burst (Vader is more midrange than aggro actually). Believe me, you will never defeat eJabba / Vader discard disrupt denial deck type without proper damage burst. The same applies to Unkar Misfits decks etc.
2) You will be in exactly the same situation in next three months, but instead of Poe/Maz it will be Sabine/Maz cycling Detonators and DL 44s to eternity.

... Poe/Maz wins mainly because of Fast Hands.
But whatever. There is dozen of tier 1 decks so I really do not understand this hate regarding the one and only deck. Maybe it is because it contains 10+ legendaries and 90% of the player base can not afford it, or I really do not know. Poe/Rey is on the very same power level, but because noone is talking about it, than noone cares obviously.
Do you want to know which deck is not fun to play against?
Those freakin Ammo Belt / Second Chance boring decks including 2 Rebel and 2 Cheat ideally with Starship Graveyard.
Also playing against Palpatine when you do not have dice mitigation is not fun.
Playing against FN-2199 / Unkar /Nighstister deck with 25 weapon and draw cards like Boundless Ambitions, cycling 10 cards first round dealing 20+ damage is not fun.
And finally playing against fast hands Jabba with Blackmill and Sith lord is not fun when you play only 1 card per turn (if you have resources for it) is not fun.
Poe/Maz is just normal aggro deck and if you do not play 4 character deck, you should be able to play against it just normally. Apart from Thermals, they cannot deal more than 4 damage on averaga per turn if you mitigate one of his die and have sabotage in your deck.
Willy Jarque reacted to this -
Poe is perfecty fine, just leave him alone. If anything is just stupid broken, than you should point out Fast Hands.

Guys thank you for the video.
Can you pelase specify your decklists (mainly battlegrounds if they are different from Throne Room and Maz Castle) if there are any cards which are not common in the deck archetype of ePalp and Poe/Maz?
Because, if they are the common builds I really do not see how you was able to have a good winning ratio against ePalpatine. I wwas able to get the probability to my side only after heavy control teching Poe/Maz against these type of decks. Those shield, Rise Agains, Force Illusions, heavy dice control and fact, that your AoE damage is irrelevant is the reason why the game with ePalp goes always for several rounds.
PS: Vader / Raider is definitely favorable match for proper Poe/Maz build, because you have good character die mitigation and you opponent can not play Mind Probe on table unless he wants to die.
Double Blanks Gaming reacted to this -
Have you ever played it? If not, than please try it and than return. You definitely do not do 10+ damage per turn consistently (actually to do 10+ damage per turn you need either thermal with multiiple targets or late game upgrades/PU in play) and eventhough it is tier1 aggro deck in its pure form, it is beatable and it has its own structural issues which can be abused. The deck itself is quite interesting and has its ways and interesting choices (mind that 90% of decklists of Poe/Maz on SWDB are total garbage) and despite already playing like 70 games with the deck, I still enjoy its gameplay and it is far from autopilot when you want to play it correctly. It has close matchup with other 1/2 character aggro lists and it can be controlled by heavy discard decks.
It started in December 2016 with Jango/Veers whine, than Vader/Raider, Hyperloops deck than Force Speed, few weeks ago it was Second Chance / Ammo Belt abuse and now it is Poe/Maz. Poeple tend to overreact on some aspects of the game and do statements on internet instead of creatively thinking how to adapt and use the meta in their own way.
To answer your questions: because Obi Wan and Luke have their own sides with 3 damage unpaid together with very good passive ability. Maz is worth of 11 points for elite because her dice when used for focus than give 0 by themselves and you basicly play only with your other two dice only making yourself vulnerable to dice removal. Also she has only 8HP which means she can be killed turn 1 and finally her die is the worst in the game. You basically pay only for her ability and focus. You can compare her pretty safely to Rey which is 12 point elite for 10HP, almost the same power level of passive ability and better die.

Ok I found a way around to make ePalpatine match at least 50/50 or maybe a little bit favorable for Poe/Maz. So problem solved for now at least.
2x Cunning, Frozen Waste and 2x New orders, 1xMaz Goggles and 2x Friends in Low Places. This suite is together with 2x Electroshock and 2x Defensive Position swithing the win ratio from previous 10-20% to 50-60% win rate.
blackholexan reacted to this -
I know it also does not help in second hardest matchup which is mirror (where Friendly Fire feels good). But you really do not have too many options what to use against ePalp to slow him down.
Cunning is viable only when he plays Force Throw, Dodge can be a life saver, Reverse costs too much and I already suited pair of Friendly Fires. There is also a possibility to play Scouts, but you will never manage to hit that Holocron in time. Finally Rey Staff is black horse which I have to test yet, but once you have it on table, it can make some ridiculous use of special every turn, but it is by miles worse than Jetpack in any other matchup.
I ahve to build that Palpatine deck by myself to run with it dozen of games, otherwise it is not possible to play against it reasonably well. :-/
blackholexan reacted to this -
Yep definitely. I already started to differ the deck by quite a lot from the common build presented usually on TTS in favor for tech cards. Also my gameplay changed a bit since the people found out, that killing Poe stops the damage, so I am consistently gearing Maz to damage suit, so she is able to deal like 6 damage by herself at the end of the game (DL-44s and Jetpacks). However Palpatine really makes things hard, as when he has good draw, you really can not do much with him (especially if you do not manage to hit Rise Again with Goggles before he playis it).
Turn 1 Holocron is usually the deal breaker of this matchup, because once he starts rolling 2 of his dice + something like Force Lightning, you are outraced in damage. I am even thinking about adding Disarm just because of Holocron....

First round damages are important only if you have enough to kill Maz (and taking out Electroshoks from the equation), otherwise you focus on Poe and try to have him dead by the end of the second round.
3) will claim aggressively on the second round if you have not enough damage. Activating first on the 3rd round may be crucial to finish one of your characters with a No Mercy (and avoiding a possible Defensive Position / Dug In in the meanwhile)
I have to return to this.
I spent last Friday on local tournament and whole weekend on TTS playing like 50 games in total with Poe/Maz and ePalpatine is hardest matchup for this deck so far. Seems like people finally tuned it up and it starts to be consistent enough to have wins in their favour. Especially the points you wrote up there in quotation are valid. There actually is not too much of defense against him in hero red/yellow decks. As he is the hardest matchup, I started to finetune the deck against him but it still lacks one round of damage usually. Seems like properly run ePalpatine is hard counter to Poe/Maz.

32 minutes ago, blackholexan said:The best thing however about FW is that you will get 2 free shields anytime you lose initiative because nobody want to see it played vs them.
This is the reason why to run two New Orders in the deck, so you start as second to et shields and than play this to switch battleground to yours and remove a character die. This card basically means 4 HP switch and Isolation for 2 resource and 1 card which is massive opening move.
Ok I accept your points, however I still have to wait to find someone who is actually really able to do me trouble with Palpatine. I will get mine second copy next week, so I can than try by myself, but as an opponent, I am not scared by him at all.
-
There is no faster deck than Poe Maz and I can imagine that you can claim with Palpatine faster only if I do not have Fast Hands and you have Force Speed and you roll decently. I can usually claim on third action: 1) rolling Poe, resolving one of his dice through Fast hands, 2) Rolling Maz, resolving focus plus second Poe or just any two dice 3) claim and remove one character die or play some mitigation / upgrades or supports now. You can outrace this only if you start the turn or if you resolve your force speed. This does not mean I always claim as third action of course, but I am able to do it and still deal 5+ damage per turn reliably if opponent wants to outrace me. There is really nothing faster in claiming than Poe/Maz currently, trust me.
Emperors Throne Room is totally unnecessary in this deck. Usually you really do not have an issue to get 1 special on Poe and that is enough, you usually do not get 2 cards to throw to special which would be worthy and also you already deal billion damage. You just have to survive long enough. Half of my deck is survival kit including the battleground and this makes Poe/Maz scary, as I usually can mess away with several opponents dice plus heal/shield 5hp or more each game.
-
I totally destroyed Palpatine on local torunament yesterday. Went 4-0 with Poe/Maz. I finsihed with 4 damage on my characters against him. Frozen Wastes + Friendly Fire were MVP.
Palpatine is higly vulnerable by dice removal. Still it is good aggro deck and if opponent do not know how to play against him, he is doomed.

12 hours ago, DJRAZZ said:In a weird way speed helped Mill decks tremendously. Early hand and deck removal and less worry about running out of time.
This exactly.
I currently run ePoe / eMaz which is super efficient and fast and also eJabba / Vader mill. I have to say, that the second deck is faster in terms of major decesions of game. Meanwhile with Poe, you play and your opponent still has whole turn of his actions, resources and reactions, with eJbba/Vader, you just start with Fast Hands Jabba roll, where you ideally disrupt his resources to clean their resource pool or you start with double or triple (Blackmail / Vibroknuckles), discard following with Vader activation as next action and usually resulting in 0 cards in opponent hand after 2 actions on both sides. Control mill decks currently definitely feels faster from an opponents point of view, as he is not running away from you, but he is disabling you to move.

You do not need power creep you need variety. If you offer people variety of what you can build with new cards, than they will buy it.
But the game itself is on rising curve of power and it will continue. Anyway you make the deck more powerful just by adding the options for deckbuilding as first set had not sufficient card pool for some decks like hero red.

Second part of my brief commentary on SoR cards published on my blog. This time I am writing about all upgrades and supports with dice. -
- Both Krennic and Unkar offer new possibilities for Villain control decks, and I expect some kind of Krennic/Jabba/Unkar mill deck will be popular.
I though this too, as te Imperial Inspection abuse is pretty obvious. However, I have to admit, that after quite long playtesting, Vader Sith Lord + eJabba is the ultimate control suite currently available and the milling potential is still the same. Yellow/red dice mitigation is not sufficient to keep both of your characters alive for 5-6 turns, unlike the blue+yellow. A lot of specials means, that you Cunning is actually crazy (reliable Force Throw and Mind Probe and sometimes twice per round omg!) plus you are really able to kill one of the opponents team members except against heavy defensive decks (because you have more damage on that Vader die than Krennic has + Mind Probe + Force Throw and Choke deals damage while manipulating the dice pool). I even managed to kill that stupid Poe/Maz deck, his battleground is not going to win him a game. Hoever, to be honest, still think that aggro Vader (Raider or RG) is more deadly than Jabba variation with mill, despite the fact Jabba version is one of the most interesting decks I have ever palyed.

Also, good article I agree on most points, especially about Baze, the world's most bland legendary.
Thank you. I personnaly do not lik Jyn's artwork as she does not look like herself. The promo version is plain better.

I played against it yesterday with very awkward Jabba/Krennic mill deck (I have to improve it, it still has life issues) and 1) C3PO and A-180 are good 2) Snap / Baze is bad deck as you have low healthpool and Snap's dice are not dangerous at all. But new red has some potential.

Regular Obi-Wan + elite padme in form of Patience Mill + Second Chances/Lone Operative/Ammo Belt. Should work well due to the guardian on Obi Wan and Padme is almost unkillable afterwards.

My local game store (Czech Republic) received something like 18 boxes. So I am lucky to have 5 o them (and openned legendaries in 4+ copies

Dear all,
I play Destiny since December and I am running a blog about this game with deck tactica articles, cards review, reports and trade list of cards for those who are situated in Europe. So far it was mainly run in Czech language, however I started to release also english versions of my articles.
So you are highly welcome to visit and read a part 1 of Spirit of Rebellion cards anaylis article which goes through all characters in this set.
https://starwarsdestiny.wordpress.com/category/reviews-en/
Part 2 with other die cards is already released in czech and I work on translation to be released on the end of this week. Finally I opened 5 boxes of SoR and I am planning to visit a major event in our area in Saturday, where I would like to try my chances with SoR based villain control mill so you can expect a deck tech article afterwards.
Feel free to comment.

I also thought about Snap, I have only one issue with him, 8HP. That is usually turn 2 kill, should he have more, than it could maybe work. Anyway, he can be brutally good in Support - Vehicles deck, where you really do not care about how fast your opponent is, you will resolve your stuff anyway.
I puprosly love Jango with Unkar, becaus both of your characters are dangerous (Unkar + Crome Lord vs. Jango and classic damage) + both of them have 2 resource sides on each die for Salvage Yeard procing. Also Fight Dirty can be very nasty in that deck, as you actually do some damage, so it can lead into turn 2 damage kill side by side gaining resources for Crime Lord finisher. Lastly, Jango really threatens your oppopnent and it is much higher reason to not target Unkar first, which means you should have much more time to get Crime Lord into play and resolve it. But I did not test it yet. It will be also quite expensive to build.

None interested in some resource denial decks? I am thinking about eUnkar + eJango. New salvage yard (support for 0, when you roll resource - tap to remove 1 resource from opponent) + My Kind os Scum + Crime Lords + Jango stuff + Fight Dirty. Only downside seems to me 20HP. Otherwise it is way nastier on paper than I thought, I cant wait to try it out.
