  1. Didn't expect this to turn into a witch hunt on me. My apologies for offending you or anyone else in some way. Play your game your way I'll play my game my way.
  2. wholly silly is saying tides of battles cards: Somebody might want to use TOB: To simulate realism - LUCK DECIDES BATTLES THEN, AND NOT CAREFUL PLANNING AND EXECUTION. To add strategic dilemmata to combat decisions - LUCK CAUSES YOU TO THINK TWICE IF OVERKIILLING AN ATTACK BY 2 IS ENOUGH. To reduce the advantage of the more experienced players -LUCK TO BEAT THE GOOD PLAYERS. To add tension and excitement to battles - LUCK DECIDES WETHER YOUR WELL DESIGNED PLANS FAIL. On occasion, to add variety -LUCK These are valid motivations. -AND SO IS TO JUST FLIP A COIN. -OR ROLL A D6 AND ADD THAT TO THE STRENGTH OF THE SIDES OF THE BATTTLE. like you are intimidating me by directly calling me out and insulting me. my, my keep up the good fight SJW. Troll is so troll.
  3. Once the destiny deck get to 50% in stack size, one card from each stack is added to the deck and is reshuffled again. The destiny deck is generated by taking 2 cards from each of the 5 stacks (6 if using treachery) and when a crisis card requires 2 are placed into the middle. this allows players to card count the brown, red and blue card plays easily as they are the most scarce. By adding in further replenishment to the deck it is now possible to prevent card counting and moreover fill the deck with treachery at the most inopportune time (which is almost always bad). Making for a more desperate early game.
  4. Suggesting 2 player games and keeping it to Fantasy Flight I would recommend: Talisman*/Relic* Arkham Horror/Elder Sign Lord of the rings World of warcraft/ World of warcraft the adventure game Civilization Multiple players: Battlestar Galactica (5 players is best ok with 4 or 6) Descent ( 3 players minimum) Fury of Dracula (3-5 players) * World of warcraft (good to 4 or 6 players, not 5) Dungeon Quest* Now if I was to suggest other games outside of Fantasy Flight I would recommend pretty much anything from Avalon Hill as well as from Games workshop from the UK. (many are mentioned here with a * as FFG has the license for distribution) Avalon hill has been purchased by Hasbro Games many years ago and contain games which are in My(and many others) top list of best games. Diplomacy (3-7 players) RoboRally (2-10 players) House on Haunted Hill (3-6 players) Civilization (2-6 players and totally different from the FFG game) Axis and Allies (2-5 players) Monsters Menace America (2-4 players) History of the World (3-6 players) Titan (2-6 players) WhY? To give you an example of the games I like or recommend you... first understand I have an idetic memory (instant recall not photographic) and am easily able to count cards without issue.I can break game mechanics and find loopholes and errors in games within an hour or two of gameplay (usually the first game I play). This makes for a bad play experience for many of others that play with or against me. Unless it is a fundamentally sound game. (Avalon Hill), historical in nature(Avalon Hill), based upon IP (intellectual property I like) (FFG,AH,GW)or completely random. (Games workshop). This is why they are selected. If you want an itemized explanation for each I am happy to provide one or many, but I suspect this is a wall of text as it is. Hope that helps,
  5. and as for games that don't use dice that are battle/war oriented: small world (1 dice for the final attack you do, and rarely used) civilization (Avalon hill/Old) civilization (Sid Meir's/New) Diplomacy to name few but really good games
  6. playing with tides of battles you might as well play with a deck of cards and play war playing a game where you get others to help you and possibly break their alliances with the player you are attacking just to have some random card decide all your units were lost breaks the spirit of a battle game. play axis and allies if you want random things to decide the outcome of the game. you don't roll dice in chess to take a piece why this game? if you want randomness try the house card variant. tides of battles is not what true wargamers want.
