Josep Maria reacted to IamGazrok in Manual of Mennara - Foundry Release!
My "Manual of Mennara: A guide to Terrinoth and the surrounding lands" is now available on Drive-Thru RPG! This product is designed to be a supplemental campaign guidebook and atlas for GMs using the setting of the Realms of Terrinoth. While the sourcebook (RoT) was filled with lore, this work provides concise and condensed information in an easy to reference format and includes information GMs like myself will find useful. Beautiful new (and scaled) maps are also provided, created by Roy Altman, featuring additional information about these locations. This supplement was designed when I realized my players (who have played different games in this setting for many years) could see a group of soldiers flying a unicorn banner and know they were from Forge, but I realized this information isn't part of the sourcebook. We'd come up with questions such as, "What barony is Frostgate in?" or "just how far is Greyhaven from Vynelvale?" These kinds of questions formed the basis for this product. This manual provides additional information such as lore-based, illustrated heraldric symbols of nations, baronies, and free cities and over two dozen color illustrations of the leaders of each. In addition, demographics, key industries, cultural details, and important locations are given within each entry, to provide GMs with plenty of adventure seeds. Many such locations go beyond the RoT book and are pulled from pre-existing lore based in Mennara, such as the heraldry of each free city, and including 2 new kingdoms and a new empire (which will eventually have its own supplement) not covered in the sourcebook! Over 40 pages of information for GMS! (and over 100 examples of original art, and over a dozen sourced artworks, including maps, heraldry, and leaders!) Additional information included tables for the languages of Mennara, as well as the world's currencies. https://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/313579/Manual-of-Mennara -

I mus admit I didn't think about deflecting startfighter lasers yet lol. But yeah thanks for the tip 🙂

Its a good alternative and maybe it can be applied to a few good things.
Also remember that the rule of reduce damage doesnt work in scenes like Ashoka against dwarf droids with laser naval scale weapons or some scenes that jedi deflect fire from destroyers. In rebels kanan do it too but not sure. Maybe from vehicles?
Failures can work against naval scale damage. A minimum tie fighter with 4*10 laser damage ignores any personal damage absortion. And jedi seem that can deflect them even bigger fire.
As I said my HR are focused on canon instead balance. Also consider deflect as an extension of ur lightsaber skill.
Hope it helped 😉

I did a lot of testing. I don't want to deviate too much to the basic rules as I have not much experience with lightsabers yet. I will follow the majority and stick to the basic rules, with a little boost. Yes it will unbalance the game to the Jedis, but that's not an issue for my game. I think the ability to deflect a blaster shot should be linked to your lightsaber skill, and the talent barrel roll inspied me. After some testing it seems to fit my needs, so I will go like that.
Deflect talent now reduce damage by 1 + deflect level + lightsaber skill. So if you intend to use a lightsaber you will hopefully have 1 rank, and with the first level of Deflect talent there will be no change. You will get better as you upgrade you lightsaber skill wich seems correct to me and still represent an investment. Eventually you will reach a maximum of 6+ Deflect lvl with a lightsaber skill of 5. Rest is unchanged. I did several tests solo and I like it. Thanks for your help.

I haven't read the thread but I expect @Donovan Morningfire would mention a house rule where each rank of reflect adds one failure to the roll, and once there are no net successes the attack misses.

Greetings!
In this post there are a few good reflexions. Here's my own method too.
"In our games we made a change to Reflect (not to Parry). It gives Failures instead damage reduction, the rest of Reflect mechanics are the same.
You can't Reflect a lot of time (unless you have some Talents or recover Strain of course)."
Take care!

Josep Maria reacted to OggDude in Another Character Generator
So, I updated the Morality table in groups to use the CRB, rather than the beta. I'm guessing not a lot of people use the group feature from GM Tools, or this would have come up sooner. If you're a GM, and you already have all your players' characters in the generator, it's probably worth it to add a group for them, if for nothing else than to print out the group sheet. It's very useful during play, as it has obligation, duty, and morality rolls, plus common skills, group equipment, etc.
Anyway, here's what Morality looks like now:

Josep Maria reacted to DangerShine Designs in Which other RPG’s do you play and what mechanics do you like from those games?
Was chatting online with a pal last night and we were discussing the new Alien game from Free League as my buddy had just gotten done playing his first game and we were discussing the Stress mechanic and how it can impact play in meaningful ways, which lead to a discussion about the narrative dice and general benefits of this system.
By the end of the discussion I realized that, despite having grown up on Traveller, games without some kind of interesting or new mechanic fail to capture my interest - just rolling 2D6 to get above a threshold is fine (and describes many of my Saturday’s growing up) but games like this and Genesys have something extra that keeps me more engaged.
So, that said; what other games do you guys play and what is it about that game that you love? Is it a mechanic or setting or other?

Josep Maria reacted to Joress in The future of Genesys Emporium
Hey everyone!
Some exciting news to share! We at RPG Sessions have approached @SkyJedi and offered to take over development of the Genesys Emporium project, to which he has graciously accepted. We want to cover a bit of what this means both for RPG Sessions and the Emporium moving forward. Before we get to that, we want to extend a huge amount of thanks to SkyJedi for all the work he has done in building such an amazing tool for the community. This is no small project and he's invested so many hours into building it for everyone to use. From all of us, Thanks!
Now, into the finer details. The Genesys Emporium was and will remain an open source project, we have no plans to change that. We hope to use our resources, together with community support, to continue development of the Emporium and keep it up to date with future releases of Genesys source book material. The repository itself has moved here https://github.com/Unbound-Legends/RPG-Web-Character-Creator and we want to encourage anyone who would like to contribute to that project to do so! Over the next weeks and months, we'll be taking a look at some of the needs of the platform and creating a roadmap for the project, including support for the upcoming Keyforge book and some design improvements.
As always, we appreciate your continued support and kind words, and we will continue to provide the best possible tools for your online RPG experience. Happy gaming!

Josep Maria reacted to kaosoe in FFG Developer Answered Questions
I don't intend to type up a manuscript of all the questions and answer given from the Order66 or podcast or any other podcast, but I did dig up the work that Venthrac has already done.
A note to Venthrac: I am not trying to cheat you out of the hard work you have done. I just wanted to get this in one place rather than revive the thread you had started.

Josep Maria reacted to kaosoe in FFG Developer Answered Questions
Developer Answered Questions Episode I
someone suggested starting an "official" thread to post questions answered by FFG developers. I did some digging and managed to compile a modest list. The list is not all inclusive and I am sure I missed some, so please respond to this thread with any that I may have missed.
I would love this to be stickied so users will not have to dig too hard to find it, but I may be asking for too much.
I tried to cite the original post where the question was first posted and the user who asked it as best as possible.
A few guidelines:
Please include to the best of your abilities the original question with the answer. If possible, include the answer verbatim to avoid confusion. Keep the thread responses to a minimum. Question and answer posts only please. If you wish to make a comment on a question or answer, it is best to start a new thread to keep the irrelevant posting down in this one.

Josep Maria reacted to whafrog in Dear FFG: please convert
Hi, much as I love this game, I really have grown to detest the careers and specs. They never fit any of my player's concepts, they are so limiting, pointless straightjackets, and often make little sense. After seeing how you fixed this and several other issues in Genesys, can I dare to hope that there will be a version 2.0 of the Star Wars game?
Just as for version 1, I promise to buy every book. My wallet is open, please take my money.
Sincerely,
whafrog

Josep Maria reacted to Johan Marek Phoenix Knight in Adventures in Azeroth: Warcraft Genesys 1.4
I did it! I finally did it!!! I finished my Warcraft conversion for Genesys! Remember when I said that my Lord of the Rings conversion was my biggest one yet? Well, this one blows that out of the water. These 108 pages of content provide pretty much everything you need to play or run a game in the Warcraft universe. As much time and energy as it took to make this, I loved it with my whole heart. This was truly a labor of love, as Warcraft is one of my favorite fantasy universes. I am glad to be able to be the first to bring this wonderful world into Genesys!

Please give me as much feedback as you can and let me know any ways you think it could be improved. All feedback is welcome. Also, I want to thank you all for all your wonderful feedback with my prior conversions and for your continued support.
Edit: With version 1.4, I've made some more changes to the document, fixing some mistakes I found and adding yet more talents. I also finished the appendix, which adds options associated with WoW and its expansions such as various new races, rules for Azerite, and examples of the different Legion artifact weapons.

Josep Maria reacted to KungFuFerret in Alita: Battle Angel dilemna: Droid or Cyborg?
I think it depends on the source material when it comes to Alita, as there is the manga stuff, and then the film. And there seems to be some debate on which style the film went with, based on certain scenes.
I've never read, nor seen the film, so I don't really know, but ultimately, for the mechanics of building a PC, it doesn't actually change anything. Best case scenario for Organic Alita is she's a human brain, in a completely robotic body. Which...I mean there is no real mechanical difference in that case, when it comes to building a PC, when compared to a droid. Everything is the same really. I don't think "Having a Gun Gun brain" is going to infer the racial bonuses of that species, if you are entirely robotic but with a fleshy brain. So, to me, I would just tell the player "Pick whichever you want. Either full droid, or cyborg, but only like the brain or whatever, since you are making an Alita copy, and just use the Droid stats to build your PC as you see fit."

Josep Maria reacted to lowfyr01 in Alita: Battle Angel dilemna: Droid or Cyborg?
I always thought she was more or less like Robocop. The main difference being that he had his face put in front of his steel head to make him more "friendly"

Josep Maria reacted to LordBritish in Alita: Battle Angel dilemna: Droid or Cyborg?
We had a human replica droid in the party whom effectively used the species stat line and xp , but had their species traits completely replaced by droid traits and mechanics instead of healing. It reflects a more advanced mode of droids rarely seen in Star Wars. That and b big outed as a droid can turn a character from a person to a object.
then again, our brand of Star Wars is in the style of tongue in cheek action movie, we are a team of bad arses with a troubled reputation.

Josep Maria reacted to KungFuFerret in Alita: Battle Angel dilemna: Droid or Cyborg?
Given how often a busted up droid has been shown in the franchise (the jawa truck in New Hope, 3PO in pieces but still functional in Empire, etc), I think the easiest is to just do what FFG has, and have it be comparable to an organic healing, and just narrate it as them occasionally taking a minute or two to fiddle with a busted arm joint, or hip servo, etc. Critical Damage still has to be actually "treated", just like a Critical Injury, so it lingers around until dealt with. Wound damage you can just narrate it as them finding scrap metal and welding it over the holes or whatever.
-
Josep Maria reacted to FuriousGreg in Alita: Battle Angel dilemna: Droid or Cyborg?
Oh, I wasn't suggesting removing self healing just not that whole Ironman suit/Alita level, see it spreading, nano healing. I recommend this because in both those examples the nanotech not only can "heal" it can also reconfigure and that is most definitely not Star Wars-y.
