Once you run a couple of beginner games you'll be ready for the core book, it just explains all the rules better and has a lot more detail.
By "create things" maybe you mean your own adventures?  If so, that's really more about storytelling.  You can set up your game so that it's just a string of encounters (a space fight here, a stormtrooper ambush there, a wild animal, etc), but it's more engaging if the encounters have some meaning and are a measurement of progress towards a goal.  The beginner set is a good example.  The goal is to get away, but to do that they:  need a ship component, have to avoid patrols, fight or deceive their way into the ship, and win the space battle.  If you download the PDF, most of the rest is set up in the same way, with encounters progressing towards goals, and goals progressing towards the end game.
At a larger scale, with the PCs living through several adventures, typically there are a couple of ways to handle it.  First is a "sandbox", where your players take on missions that seems suitable to their character and their situation, but nothing really happens from one mission to the next that results in larger-scale consequences.
Second is a story arc or campaign, where the players engage in a series of interconnected missions that eventually culminates in some important resolution.  This can be a lot more involved because it might require the GM to track more NPCs and their motives, and the PC actions can carry more weight in regional or even galactic considerations.
Sometimes the first can grow into the second:  the players might start as smugglers doing a few interesting jobs, then find on one of their jobs they've crossed the wrong crime syndicate, and end up in a situation where they have to flee or go to war or find some other resolution.  Sometimes the players can trigger this kind of thing themselves; or sometimes the GM will have planned this all along to what appeared to be a semi-aimless fun-fest becomes deadly serious with far-reaching consequences...(guilty here   )
    Sorry, that was probably TMI...

Yes, exactly.  Quick rule of thumb for scaling is to first check what dice pool the PC is bringing to bear on the challenge, then:
If you want an easy challenge, the negative dice should be 2 or more less than the PC's positive dice If you want a 50/50 challenge, the negative dice should be 1 less than the PC's positive dice (this is because you need 1 net success) If you want a difficult challenge, the negative dice should be equal or 1 more than the PC's positive dice etc You can mess with this subtly by adding setback for environmental conditions ("this should be easy, but it's dark out"), or rewarding the player for entertaining and/or clever plans with boost dice.

Totally possible, I've played several longer campaigns with just my son as a player, and quite a few one-offs as well.  You just have to scale things appropriately, so in the beginner game drop the number of minion groups, and/or the minions in each group.
The only real problem is that if the dice are unkind to your player, it can very quickly fall apart...more PCs add a buffer to one PC's bad luck.  So as a GM you need to be prepared to deal with having the PC knocked out...instead of killing them, capture them and find a way for them to escape, etc.
There are two other things you can do to mitigate the dice swings.  First, you can run an ally NPC that is really a fully fleshed out PC.  This is my least favourite because it's really easy to find yourself using this NPC to drop hints or steer the story/narrative/decision-making to where you want to go, and this can just rob the player of their motivation.  It's doable, but you have to keep those issues in mind.
The second option is to have the player run two PCs.  This is actually really easy to do, my first campaign with my son he had his main character and a trusty droid PC "sidekick".
Hope that helps and hope you enjoy the game!

It's absolutely possible!  My favorite character ever was in a solo game (that's what it's typically called when you have one Game Master and a single PC).
Granted, the game needs to be structured a bit differently, but it's certainly possible.  I've never played any of the Beginner's kits so I don't know if the adventure is designed for a one-person party, though.   Hopefully someone else can jump in and let you know about that part.
But welcome to the hobby!  It's great fun!  Ask any questions, we're all here to help .

    Hello guys !
Me and my girlfriend started to get really into SW extended universe few weeks ago. We just found a beginner's kit for Edge of the empire as we always wanted to get into a Roleplaying table game. I just saw , after that, that's if for 3 to 5 players. The thing is, we're only two hahah. So is it possible to play it ? I heard it is but how can we do this ? I guess i'll play GM & a character (but how should i play it?) And she's gonna play another character ? (the twi'lek one). Do you have any suggestions / tips ? Thank you very much !

If it's a PC, then the other PCs understand them. If it's an NPC, it only matter if it makes for a fun complication or bit of scene setting.

I have not revised the excel format document, it was a link i did not review from the thread page origin. I preferred to work within the Word format and convert back into a PDF.
I had originally started adding talents from new released documents when this was v4.2 but conversion from PDF into Word made for major slow downs in syn-taxing then i got the bright idea to see if the Originators had updated it themselves, and restarted from that point.  I plan to try and keep updating the document as needed with any new content from my gaming circle or from talent additions which haven't made the cut in translation from the SW FFG supplements.
Thanks for all the feedback. Special thanks to the original collaborative teams efforts to compile this document in the first place!!!!

I've outlined what is and isn't on each screen below. Besides that, the typeface on the Genesys GM Screen is a heavier weight (slightly more bold) than the typeface used on the Star Wars GM Screens, making it (to my eyes) more readable at the same distance. The Genesys GM Screen is also landscape rather than portrait format, which I quite like. I find the Star Wars GM screens too tall for use at the table. They create a feeling of separation from the players that I don't like.

    2.2
Question: I’m seeing duplicate equipment, careers, specializations, etc., in the generator. Why does it do that?
Answer: More than likely, you added this data yourself using the data editor, and a later version of the software had it added to its stock data. To fix this problem, just delete your custom versions, remembering to transfer over any descriptions first to the stock items.

    hope it helps

Shadow Hunters and Witch Doctors are in an interesting position. You could play them like a shadow priest, which would be the Light skill and the Dark Insight talent, or you could play them as a shaman (which, since you mention lightning bolts, seems like the route you are leaning towards). In the shaman case, you can just choose the Elemental skill, which is already Cunning-based.

Version 1.2 is now up! I've had a bit of a hiatus from setting creation to play & GM more, but since I am doing another Warcraft campaign soon I decided to come back and make some edits and fixes to this document that I've been meaning to for a while. I mostly just fixed a couple mistakes and added a bunch of talents. I hope you enjoy it!

Adventures in Azeroth is placed mostly during the events after Warcraft III and before WoW. The reason why Greymane can control himself is because the Night Elves did a ritual with the Scythe of Elune during Cataclysm that gave the Worgen control of themselves again. Before that (and thus during the time period of this setting) the change was uncontrolled. If you want to play a game that takes place after Cataclysm, then I would suggest removing the uncontrolled nature of the change, but any games that take place beforehand should keep it there.

These are pretty well done. My pdf focuses on the time between Warcraft 3 and WoW, so I probably won’t add them in (as they were all either undiscovered or nonexistent at that point) but feel free to use this for your own stuff.
One caveat: Void Elves Use Void/Shadow magic, which mechanically speaking is the Light skill with the Dark Insight talent. Fel and Shadow are two very different powers (different enough that Sargeras bound himself to Fel energies in order to defeat the Void).
