Josep Maria reacted to player266669 in READ THIS FIRST! Frequently asked questions about EotE
Welcome to the Outer Rim!
Below are some frequently-asked questions about the Star Wars Edge of the Empire roleplaying game. If you are new to the game and you've come here to ask a question, please read the below post first, as you might find the answer you're looking for.
Will there be a PDF version of Edge of the Empire?
An official representative from Fantasy Flight Games has stated that there is no plan at this time to produce a PDF version of the game.
Can I play a Jedi in Edge of the Empire?
The short answer is no. While the game does include the ability to play a Force-sensitive character with somewhat limited Force powers, the option to play a full-fledged Jedi is not available in this product. This is due mainly to the game being set at a point in the timeline when the Jedi order has been eradicated by the machinations of Darth Sidious. This subject might well be revisited in the forthcoming Force and Destiny, which is planned for release in 2015.
Where can I download the character sheet?
The game's official support page has many useful items including a downloadable PDF character shet. You can find the support page here:
http://www.fantasyflightgames.com/edge_minisite_sec.asp?eidm=232&esem=4
Where can I download the game's specialization talent trees so my players can more easily track which talents they have purchased?
At present, you can't. Fantasy Flight has not published these in a downloadable format, although the pages in the book that contain these talent trees do state that you are free to photocopy them for personal use. It is possible that fan-made versions will become available at a future time. See this thread for some options that have alreayd surfaced:
http://community.fantasyflightgames.com/index.php?/topic/85937-printable-talent-trees/
Are there any useful player-made resources available for Edge of the Empire?
Yes, quite a few. Follow the below link to see a thread on this very subject.
http://community.fantasyflightgames.com/index.php?/topic/85616-compiled-resources-list/
Questions about planned future products
Many players have asked whether Fantasy Flight has plans to do a certain future product such as a sourcebook for a different era or a book that includes stat blocks for the characters featured in the Star Wars movies. It is the policy of FFG not to comment on future planned releases to any degree. Any such information will be publicly announced at the game's official website, which you can find at the link below. http://www.fantasyflightgames.com/edge_minisite.asp?eidm=232
Is there somewhere I can buy or download that nice galaxy map on pages 328 & 329 of the EotE Core Rulebook?
Unfortunately, no. Rest assured, a lot of people would love to get a copy of that.
What weapons are compatible with the weighted head melee weapon attachment to?
There are no melee weapons in the Edge of the Empire Core Rulebook to which a weighted head can be attached, because none of them have sufficient hard points to support one. However, it is possible that melee weapons introduced in future products will be able to make use of a weighted head. (Note, although the Tinkerer talent can add hard points to a weapon, additional ranks only allow the tinkerer to add 1 extra hard point to additional weapons, it does not allow a tinkerer to add more than 1 hard point to a single weapon.)
Is there an official FAQ/Errata document for the game?
Yes, and you can find it on the game's Support page at the following link:
http://www.fantasyflightgames.com/edge_minisite_sec.asp?eidm=232&esem=4
How do attachments and modifications work, exactly?
This is covered in the rules pretty thoroughly, and I'm not sure I can explain it any better than they do, but the question keeps coming up so I'll give it a shot.
An attachment is a thing you stick on a weapon, like a stock, a score or a barrel. Each attachment eats up a number of hard points, and every weapon in the game lists how many free hard points it has that you can spend to add attachments. Adding an attachment is simple and automatic, you don't need any skill rolls or money to do it other than the cost of just buying the attachment itself.
Where it gets interesting is, most attachment can be altered and made better before they're attached to the weapon. A barrel that shortens a weapon's range but makes it do more damage can actually be upgraded even further before you stick it on your gun. We can call this process "modding". Modding means "making an existing attachment even better." Each attachment has, in its description, a list of different mods you can make to it. Some mods have a number, like "2 damage +1 mods". That means you can make a mod that adds +1 damage, and then as a second mod, you can do the same thing again, though it does count as an entirely separate mod with the increased cost in money and difficulty that entails (see below).
To mod an attachment, a character first names which mod on the attachment's list of available mods he's going to make. He pays 100 credits, then spends some time working on the attachment, assumedly tinkering with it at a workbench of whatever the GM think sis necessary. When the work is complete, the character makes a Hard Mechanics skill roll. If that roll succeeds, the attachment has been successfully modded and it gets the bonus listed for that mod in the attachment's description.
You can do this multiple times, but it gets both more difficult and more expensive. Each additional mod you make to an attachment costs the amount of the previous mod + 100 credits. So, the first mod costs 100 to install, but the second one costs 200, the third one costs 300, and so on. The difficulty of the mechanics check increases by one step for each mod beyond the first that you install in an attachment. The first mod requires a Hard (3 difficulty dice) Mechanics skill check to install, but the second mod required a Daunting (4 difficulty dice) Mechanics skill check to install, and it just keep going up from there.
If you fail the Mechanics skill roll, you still lose the money and time, and the mod does not get installed. If you generate a despair symbol, you actually break the attachment entirely, rendering it useless.
In my own personal opinion - and this part is not in the rules, it's just my thoughts - you could also leverage threat to say the weapons works in a less-than-optimal way for a short time, maybe suffering a single setback die during the next encounter or just the next attack made with it. You could possibly say that advantage means the installing took less time than expected, and a triumph might mean the next mod will be cheaper to install, maybe discounting 25% of the expected cost. Do whatever feels good to you and your GM will approve - use those narrative symbols! They are the strength of the game.
Feel free to suggest new items for this list. I would like to keep it short, because I think that will make it more useful, so please do not be offended if I don't include every suggestion in the first post.

Hi people!
Well, the main idea about this post is to share suggestions about what OST do you use on your game sessions or in concrete scenes to feel more intense moments. I just catalogued a few ones. Of course my main songs came from SW universe (movies, series, games) but also I have other fonts.
Just enjoy and post your own
PS: I use "Intensity" value to determine the importance of the scene

Yes. In my last Star Wars campaign (that was definitely non-canon) had an area of space called the League of Non-aligned Worlds. The characters got into a fist fight with a bunch of thugs that included a Drazi. (Both from Babylon 5) Various other B5 aliens were briefy described as parts of street and cantina crowds. The Tionese were the Centari. The Iotrans were Space Dwarves. A race from the Rim called Balosians were Space Elves. Several adventures involved aliens from Otherspace that were Tyranids. One adventure involved investigating several disappearances of colonists that ended being caused by Deep Ones (Call of Cthulhu) who were native to the world and trying to keep an ancient being satisfied and asleep so it wouldn't destroy them. There were Deathtrooper zombies and an adventure based on a Dr Who episode called State of Decay had vampires. Blue Sun (Firefly) was a galactic corporation.

Josep Maria reacted to Drathen in Character Folio Cover I made
So I finished the cover for your character folios and you can download it from here https://www.dropbox.com/s/m44g3or58bvzsil/1313%20background.psd
I used the starwars 1313 concept art for the mid since its got that seedy looking environment and did the best I could for the rest. Had to scan the handout and edit the hell out of it from the beginners box set. The file is a photoshop file and the text in the art can be edited to whatever you guys want to name your characters and careers. I hope you guys enjoy it and happy effing gaming!
ps
I left the Ralph Mcquarrie art in there too incase you prefer that one

I wanted to do something like the beginners box set character sheets since I like to draw my own pc and npcs. I didint like how the middle turned out so I used a Ralph Mcquarrie piece for the mid area. I thought it would look good since its around the time frame of the game. Still tweaking it but feel free to leave feedback.

Josep Maria reacted to player266669 in EotE Core Rulebook Errata
As you find errors in the book, please post them here with page number and location of the text. NOTE: Fantasy Flight Games has published an official FAQ document for Edge of the Empire, and you can find it on the product support page at the below link. http://www.fantasyflightgames.com/edge_minisite_sec.asp?eidm=232&esem=4
Also, Lead Developer Sam Stewart has stated the following in response to the question of whether subsequent printings of the game's Core Rulebook will include errata:
TYPOS & OTHER ERRORS Pg. 29, under "Obligation in play" "Before each session, the GM rolls a d00..." d00 should be d100.
Page 34, second sentence misspelling: "Does he want to play a roguish pilot, quick to wdraw..." Sould be "quick to draw" Pg. 82, Pilot Talent Tree row 3 col. 2 "Improved Dead to Rights"
"...additional damage equal to Agility (rounded up)..."
The inclusion of "(rounded up)" is unnecessary since full Agility score is not a fraction.
Pg 109, Coordination Skill description "A character may attempt to reducing damage suffered when falling, diminishing the impact..." Should read: "A character may attempt to reduce damage suffered..."
Pg. 113, second paragraph of the Negotiation skill description: "Negotiate is opposed by the subject's Presence and Cool." This information conflicts with Table 3-3: Social Skill Interactions on this same page, which indicates that when Negotiation is the Acting Skill, Negotiation or Cool is the Opposing Skill.
Pg. 134, Defensive Stance talent "One per round on the character's turn..." Should be "Once per round..." Pg. 136, Hard Headed (Improved) talent description The Tree lists only Bodyguard as having the talent, but the Mechanic has it as well
Pg. 143, Stim Application (Advanced) talent
"As an incidental, when performing the Stim Application action, the character may increase the difficulty of the Medicine check to Hard [3 Difficulty Dice] as an incidental." Unnecessary second use of "as an incidental." Pg. 144, in the entry for the 'Targeted Blow' talent: The 'Trees' entry for this talent lists Mercenary Soldier as one of the specialisations that has access to the talent. This is incorrect; the Mercenary Soldier specialisation tree on page 79 does not contain the Targeted Blow talent. Pg. 157, in the entry for Stun Damage (Passive) "As a free action, the wielder can choose to switch the setting of his weapon to 'Stun.'" Should be "As an incidental..."
Pg. 174, in the description for the Cybernetic Brain Implant: "...provides +1 Intelligence..." Should be "...provides +1 Intellect..."
Pg. 194, in the entry for the Enhanced Optics Suite "Removes difficulty to all...surveillance checks."
There is no Surveillance skill (it was removed during beta).
Pg. 205, in the "Ranged Attacks and Melee Attacks" text box in the upper left corner, opening sentence:
"Ranged attacks or a melee attacks are two different types of attacks." The underlined text is erroneous. I'm not sure what it intended here, but a logical assumption would be "Ranged attacks and melee attacks are two different types of attacks."
PG. 227, in the entry for sensors. "Using sensors in passive mode requires an Easy [1 difficulty die] Surveillance check..." There is no Surveillance skill (it was removed during beta). Pg. 244, in Table 7-9, the "Navicomputer Failure" result lists: "...in the case of a ship without a navicomputer, its R2 Unit..." Perhaps a nitpick, but this should probably read "its astromech droid..," since R2 units are only one possible model of astromech a ship could have.
Pg. 251, Digger Crawler (Sandcrawler) Description This vehicle has no pilots listed as crew.
Pg. 261, under the "Weapons" entry for the ILH-KK Citadel-class light freighter "Port and Starboard Turret Mounted Twin Light Ion Cannons (2) (Fire Arc Forward)" The fire arc for the twin light ion cannons would seem to be in error: if they are turret-mounted the fire arc should be "all" as is consistent with other turret-mounted starship weapons.
Pg. 264, in the stat block for the Wayfarer-class transport
There is no sensor range listed for this ship
Pg. 271, section heading "Retrofitted Hanger Bay" This should be spelled "Retrofitted Hangar Bay."
Pg. 276, the Aurebesh spelling of "Force Sensitive Exile"
Under the title "Force Sensitive Exile," the Aurebesh beneath the header translates to "Force Shensitive Exile." The character used is "Shen," which makes an "Sh" sound instead of "Senth," which is "S."
Pg. 338, in the entry for Yag'Dhul
"The planet's three moons and complex orbit results in extreme tidal forces that expose portions of the plant to hard vacuum"
Underlined plant should be planet
Pg. 402, in the stat block for Emperor's Hand, gear section
The frag grenade lists "Melee" as its skill. This should be "Ranged (Light)."
Pg. 406, in the stat block for Black Sun Vigo, talent section
The description of Crippling Blow reads "...increase damage by 1..." instead of "...increase difficulty by 1..."
SEEKING CLARIFICATION
These might or might not be errors, but do represent areas where something is either unclear or diverges form the final beta update. Refer to the link below for some dev answers to rules questions; you might find what you're looking for there. Lead Developer Sam Stewart answers some player rules questions: http://community.fantasyflightgames.com/index.php?/topic/87276-some-rules-questions-answered-by-sam-stewart/
Pg. 172, in the entry for neurolytic poison:
The poison Stuns the target for 3 Rounds if the target fails the check. Clarification needed on the meaning of "...Stuns the target for 3 rounds..." in this context.
Pg. 111, in the entry for the Leadership skill: "If a character's allies have become subject to the effects of fear, they may be rallied through a Leadership check." No specific rules are given for how this application of works. Was this intended to be a mechanic? Or just a suggested use for the skill generally?. Pg. 233-234 "Damage Control" action description The description for this action states that a skilled mechanic can use the action to repair damage to a vehicle's hull. However, it is never explicitly stated how much hull trauma can be repaired by doing so. The logical assumption is 1, which is the amount of system strain that this action can repair. However, to ensure clarity, it would be helpful if this information could be added to the text. I was able to get this question answered by speaking to Sam Stewart at GenCon. The answer is that it works the same way as the manual repairs action, repairing one point of hull trauma per success rolled on the Mechanics check. NPC ODDITIES
Because the devs have stated that the game's NPCs were not created using the same method as that used to generate player characters, these seeming errors might be intended. I am including them as a precaution.
Pg. 396, Sullustan Pilot-For-Hire
Either equipment should include heavy clothing or adverse environment gear, or soak should be 1.
Page 398: Spaceport Security Officer
Soak should be 5 or armor should not be padded. Melee Defense is listed at 1, but no reason is shown for this.
Page 406: Planetary Governor
Soak should be 5 or armor should not be padded. Melee Defense is listed at 1, but no reason is shown for this.

Sorry for repost
Greetings people!
Someone mentioned the wish of a specific systems that suits perfectlly in SW. Other game editions like D6, D20 or Saga, where pretty good, but where "only" patchs or addons from other systems. Not designed for SW.
An specific system designed for SW univers will be really impressive and trully adapted to SW universe.
Take care people!
PS: One question, anyone here from Wizards Community?
Hi Josep
I'm from the WoTC forum, but I didn't post there that much.
I don't see why we can't start in the movie eras, but then expand.to others. There's a lot of rich story telling, just take a look at the Old Republic video games.
WoTC's failure was trying to make their source books too similar to those video games and miniature games though. The Force Unleashed book, for example, throws the game so far out of whack it's unbelievable. All because the video game was insane. Hopefully LucasFilms or whoever dictated those kinds of decisions won't do so here.

As I draw other things (characters, maps, etc), which probably won't be often, I will attach them to this thread.
