  1. that would be better, wouldn't it :)

    *thinks*

f there was room for it, some sort of icon with a ships wheel would be good for the Manoeurve cards. But since there isn't room, I don't think I'll bother.

This is it, apparently. What I want to know is why it has a lifebelt - after all, anybody who falls off a 40K starship isn't going to be rescued - they're expected to throw themselves at the enemy and clog their cannons with bodies.

There's a scene in Relentless that deals with precisely this sort of thing- after every other recycling process has been applied, the waste is gradually dumped into vats and slave ratings sift through the slop by hand for any small things that may be valuable enough to warrant reclaiming before the whole mess gets boiled by plasma run-off and compressed to reclaim as much of the water as possible before the remaining ash plug gets blown into space.

    Excellllant...

And, of course, there's all the water that humans exhale - it's a real problem in underground archeological sites, and even more so on spacecraft - and condensers  whilst hey can certainly extract it from the air, extract all the other volatiles as well - the output from a condenser would be foul, without further recycling

Its probably about right, when I did some freelance stuff years ago for a game and researched the bare requirements, it roughly works out about 130kg of water and food per person, per 1000hrs... if you have very high recycling rates for the water and don't bathe! Yarrh, welcome aboard the Pig Boat!

As for the great brown flood, Conjunctivitis, Diarrhea, Giardia and various parasitic intestinal worms are my suggestions if you want something simple, extremely uncomfortable and can't be solved with a gun.

MuaHaHAHa, my players are going to hate me

I love the new versions, look awesome! =D

    Few comments:

1- A different logo for Navigator and Astropath card would be great.

2- Tactical Positioning doesn't use Navigation, so the bonus from Ship's Master Brindge shoudln't be there.

3- I haven't used Torpedos, but I think they have an action to load torpedoes before they are fired. I'm not sure, though.

Save those details, this is one of the most helpful resources I've found for a RT game! =D

    EDIT:

Just an idea, but what about a Card for Crippled Ships?

    1) OK, I'll invent a nice navigator Icon tonight - I had to come up with one for the medics after all. Perhaps a skull icon with an extra eye?

    2) Sod. Well, easily fixed.

    3) You're probably right, I'll check tonight

    4) Good idea :)

And of course, there's the risk of hullghasts, boreworms, maw leechs, etc. What other sort of things can I put down there to make the Explorers feel the need for a long hot shower, afterwards?

Well, everything your would regularly think of in regard to the mentioned environment will all but the most hardened scummer a run for the showers!

...but please remember that the ship will not store all the waste but will either recycle it or simply vent it into space. Nothing else makes sense. But you can still have large "sewer vaults".

...but what was the formula you used to get 2.500 tons? And where did you get it from?

Just used the the average water consumption per household, here in Australia, and rounded down a bit. And yes, of course they'll recycle it, but that takes time, and they have to recycle it somewhere  :) Not a prestigious posting, I suspect

  7. Link above has been deleted, because I have uploaded the New Improved version, with Fighters, Torpedos, Astropath & Navigator actions, Ship Backgrounds, etc etc etc

Hopefully all the neccesary Extended Actions, etc, are now included - I'll be making my first use of them myself next session - the players have managed to start religious warfare on Zayth, and one of the landships is attempting to blow the Rose Tattoo out of the sky.

  8. I've just been doing some calculations, and it looks like the lower decks of even a small ship have plenty of opportunity for horribleness. For example, a ship of 25,000 crew can easily produce 2 and a half thousand tonnes of sewage, wastewater, and industrial effluent a day. Given the kind of damage a ship can suffer in combat, imagine the situation is the Main Vats are ruptured. The Great Brown Flood of M41.230 would go down in shipboard history.

And of course, there's the risk of hullghasts, boreworms, maw leechs, etc. What other sort of things can I put down there to make the Explorers feel the need for a long hot shower, afterwards?

  9. tidal effects raising massive earthquakes on planets when they swing nearby, periodic plagues of insanity, rains of warpstone onto the planet below, waves of disease, drugs, blood, fire etc depending on which Ruinous Power is in ascendence...

Ships would suffer the same kind of thing, or suffer tewrrible damage if they dare go too close, or fail a Piloting test to enter...

as to detectabilty - up to you as GM - I'd make some kind of Psyniscience roll, to give the ship's psykers something to do.

1- Having Navigator and Astropath Actions could be very helpful. =D

2- The font for headings is sometimes confusing to read.

I think you have also missed Torpedos and Attack Craft Actions (not that I use them, but I imagine many prople do).

How about adding the special Astropath and Navigator actions from into the storm? I also didn't like the font you used for the headings, it seemed to take up to much space and was hard to read. The placement and choice of some of the artwork could also do with some work. But overall these will make a great aid for me and my players. Thank you for creating these, much better than the spreadsheets I made for my own games.

Rightio, I'll go back through it, and change the heading font too - it troubled me as well. Which artworks were problematical?

  11. Don't be too fast to print them out, I've already done version 1.03, with better layout, bonus total boxes, etc... plus I want more feedback from people on that version uploaded above, before I add more :)

are there any other component bonuses I missed, for example? That wouldn't go under special rules for weapons, I mean?

Some kind of set or reference cards or specialized reference sheets would certainly be very helpful for my players and even me. If anyone is putting some together or plans to do so, please count me in. Maybe post the files on rpg geek.com or something

I just typed up a quick .doc, included relevant addenda regarding bonuses for their ship, etc, illustrated the cards with a suitable picture to save time searching them (a BFG miniature for the Manoeuvering cards, Tech-Priest Casu Marzu for the Tech-use based extended action , etc ) and glued them onto index cards. Would you like me to email you it?

Could you upload the file to Mediafire or Megaupload (or any other host you like) and share the link with us, please? That would be very helpful and saves you time of having to send individual emails to anyone interested. =D

Ok, give me some time to re-do them more neatly, and use pictures I can distribute freely. Would colour be helpful? Say, if I colour-coded the various action cards?

Also, since I included only those Component bonuses I have access to, should I include the rest, or just leave space for players to add notes? Or do a reverse side for each card with those bonuses?

  14. Depends how valuable the rest of the system is - sure, a good pilot can make use of a warp rift to get in and out of a system, deep within a system's gravity well, but the problem is so can anything else. Certainly, I wouldn't want to set up a long-term project in such a system, unless the potential profits were huge. Wouldn't be a fun system for anybody who is psychically sensitive, either.

But for a quick raid - i.e. dash in, scoop up a hold full of precious metals, and get the hell out again before the rift disgorges something really unpleasant, that might be doable.
