I would love to try an android: netrunner coop lcg similar to the ah lcg with unique runners and a campaign.

A ban list is long, long over due. Tyler explained his reasons in the article today and for my mind, his reasons are very difficult to argue with.
There are some absolutely degenerate cards that should have never been printed and the only way to address them without extensive errata is just to ban them in competitive play.
Your argument hasn't received much traction in the global L5R Facebook group, I doubt it will see too much here either.
I see the ban list as being a shot in the arm my local group needs to potentially entice some lapsed players back, being assured that problem cards are being looked at and addressed with good reasons.

Case in point just happened in a game. In an attempt to avoid triggering the next threat event, I had Berevor Sprint (gaining 1 exp and 1 inspiration) to explore a cave at the end of the turn... only to reveal three more unexplored tiles and 2 new enemies! *facepalm*

Hannibal_pjv reacted to RafaelNN in The Roles Have Been Freed
I would dare say most of those groups do so out of a competituve feeling and many will emulate the best choice. And so stick to the same one or two roles. The only difference is those roles wont change very 4 months, they will stay until an op card make sit worthy to migrate. And so, less variety than before.
The previous sytem might seem restrictive (I didnt find it restrictive at all but thats personal opinion) but it made you cycle playstyles regularly and so ensured some variety, or at list a rotation. The new one seems at first glances to open the gates wide open, but I fear in practice what it will do is facilitate the picking of o e role and make clans stagnate withe the most optimal choice now that theya rent forced to switch it

on the other hand (personal opinion) THANKS GOD JiME isn't a skirmish app game ! I tried a few times IA, and if it was nice on the paper, I just founded the game way too much clumsy and combat oriented..
With JiME, I really have the feeling that the scenario designs and game mechanisms put the meta of the combat at a second plan, not as the main feature  It really feels like a journey !

Hannibal_pjv reacted to phillos in Is it still a thing ?
There was alot he went through but I'll do my best to give some highlights.  He described a new keyword on some of the cards in the box "Support" I believe that allowed another player to pay the fate for the card, which allows more interaction between teammates.  In addition to the enlightenment mode, he mentioned 2 v 2 team play as a standard mode for 4 players.  He also showed off a more well developed "Treaty" mechanic.  He showed off a Treaty deck which are cards dealt to players that they could use to enforce Treaties.  They have concrete costs and benefits to upholding or breaking the Treaty.  Also just in general there are a bunch of cards in the box with multiplayer in mind.  They could be used in standard play but are meant to be optimal in multiplayer.
In addition the rules will be posted prior to the box release digitally prior to Worlds.  So you could try out the format before buying the product.

well the live stream today was certainly good news for anyone excited about this sort of thing.  Without playing it I feel like the tweaks he showed off in the box look all like good improvements to the format.

Yoy draw five priority cards, take one of of them And put it on Ancient one cheet and then play the rest in order. So that you can play them in priority order you have to play them face up. So you have more info in there. But when you play actions cards you have to draw and play them one by one, so you have less info about them!

Hannibal_pjv reacted to pixcalcis in Expansions confirmed
And they also released an entire campaign....
As stated above, Mansions would probably be the best example used  to forecast releases for this.
The pace of releases really isn’t all that different from mansions of madness.  Mansions did have the advantage of being able to frontload the content carried over from first edition( which this game obviously cannot do) however,   in general they had a big box and small box each once a year.  Which is essentially what we will most likely be getting.  We don’t know the size/contents of the Journeys big box expansions. By the comments made during the AMA it sounds like they could be bigger than mansions big box expansions.  The figure packs have less physical content than mansions small boxes but was accompanied by the release of a greater amount of digital product..so I call that a wash.

And regarding radio silence......  Again, we didnt see that  immediately after mansions release because of the first edition carryover products releasing.  Since this game doesn’t have that benefit we shouldn’t expect something similar. For mansions, the time between the  first fully 2nd edition small box RELEASE and the subsequent first big box ANNOUNCEMENT article (which, conveniently, is where we are in the journeys product life) was six months.   Based on that previous example we shouldn’t expect any articles for a while yet.

Hannibal_pjv reacted to Duciris in Too much in the mytho phase
I'm guessing you're playing with a higher player count.  With 1-2 players it's pretty minor, with 3-4 it's a bit more aggravating, but with 5-6 you're going through almost the entire bag each time.
We draw all of them one-at-a-time, but we draw them all back-to-back-to-back.  We also split who does what: someone in charge of doom & gate bursts and assigning clues (handing them to whoever's not doing anything so they can shuffle them in to the top of the deck), someone else adds the doom/clue tokens to the board, someone else counts through the tokens in sequence.  It cuts down on the downtime.
As for overwhelming, the higher player counts are prone to bigger swings as the doom can overwhelm 1 or 2 areas of the board.  They can also respond more effectively (if they aren't all in a corner location) and clear 1 or 2 anomalies and clear (or nearly clear) the board of monsters.
Essentially, your trading for board control for increased doom accumulation.  You also have the ability to find clues at an accelerated rate.  It's a trade-off.
I think delegation and pulling tokens faster keeps people engaged.  If only 1 person is doing all the token placement and card manipulation, the rest of the players will feel the downtime.

What difference does it make if does take that long?  This kind of game doesn't need frequent releases,  it needs quality content.  If that takes a little longer to produce and test then that's what they should be doing.
(Not to imply it doesn't have quality content currently)

Yes and no... They could have used one ring to beat sauron, but They did not even if it was an option. In short term even not a bad one. So there could be options in the game that will be followed by utterly losing the game. For me it is utterly fine, and even desireable. But I Also prefer options that when you chose ”wrongly” just make the next Gaming sessions different and more difficult.

I did use guardian and hunter build in battle maps and pathfinder burglar roles in joyrney maps. Seemed to work very well actually!

Hannibal_pjv reacted to Ascarel in DISCUSSION: What is the single biggest issue and what single change made do you think would help L5R as a whole?
This. So. Much. This. As a casual Netrunner player who did not buy everything there was, it was irritating to find similar comments on netrunnerdb. But with L5R I find the same kind of black and white pronouncement on Discord. It's especially funny when two people speak with the same level certainty but are at complete opposite as to what they claim is the best. I just shrug and move along.
It has to be said, LCGs are hybrid creatures. Built for competitive play, but layered with enough theme, flavor and overall production quality to attract non-competitive gamers. A weird outlier might be Arkham, because it's coop, but that might actually confirm the weird place "PvP" LCGs are at.
I therefore wish the casual gamer would find himself or herself more at home with these kinds of games. To me this means a broader support of related products and variants (such as multiplayer, which was mentioned by someone else).
I've always found idea behind the Terminal Directive box for Netrunner nothing short of awesome. L5R is so well suited for that. Just imagine a story around the fight for Hisu Mori Toride. Or Tadaka's journey to the Crab lands. Or whatever shenanigans we're expecting between Sotorii and Daisetsu. Those story-oriented boxes could come with basic deck themselves, I'd pay the extra for that.
