I can't wait to try this game out...
derekwildstar replied to DarkFather's topic in Star Wars: The Card Game
DarkFather, I'm new to the game as well, and have no one in my area to play with. I've been playing test games in OCTGN, but not with other people. So, if you're interested in getting a game together let me know. Currently my user on OCTGN is dunagrad, but I'm going to see if I can change it to derekwildstar. I do have two kids, so my playtime is limited with possible interruptions. Hence the reason I haven't actually asked anyone to play on OCTGN, yet. I tend to be available for play in the evenings after 9, but I'm off during the day on Fridays with no kids. Also, I'm on Eastern Time. Hope to see you online. -
Where Should I Go From Here?

Well, bit the bullet, and bought the expansion and the core this time around? Looks like I'm good for deck building and fun. -
favorite card combos
derekwildstar replied to Torresse's topic in Star Wars: The Card Game - Strategy
It's an oldie, but I like the yoda for the edge win, then return of the Jedi to put him back into play. Still only cost you the same resources as if you just put him into play. Then you can attack with him or force him in the force phase and win that struggle as well. -
Where Should I Go From Here?

Awesome. Thanks for the input. That's actually really helpful, because I was looking at an all core deck that had Jedi and Han. Hadn't yet thought to add Ben's Spirit to the mix. I'll have to look at what's in the deck already to determine what I need to drop. -
Where Should I Go From Here?
derekwildstar replied to derekwildstar's topic in Star Wars: The Card Game - Strategy
Yeah, Edge of Darkness is looking like the route I'll most likely take since my weekend excursion to drum up players in the area flopped. That just means, I'll start playing on OCTGN once I feel ready, and then if competitive play looks viable in my future, I'll purchase the second core. Thanks for the input, it helped me see my reasoning between each potential purchase. Any suggestions on a core deck that includes cards from the Dark Time FP, since that's what I have right now? -
Okay, so I’ve tried to hold off asking this question just because there is so much information out there about decks, but even with the reading I’m doing, I’m not really getting the answer I am seeking even with the thread where someone asked about single core set decks. So, I apologize, in advance for asking a question that someone else may have already covered, but I think with the new expansion and force packs, it is still relevant. I have one copy of the core set, and this weekend, I found a gaming store near me that had exactly one copy of the Force Pack – A Dark Time and two copies of the core set. With that being said, sadly, everyone that plays at that store plays magic, and no one plays Star Wars at all (*sniff sniff*). Probably the reason I got that pack for 9.99. I know it is recommended that one have two copies of the core set to build a decent deck. However, I am still really interested in the EoD expansion, and of course I want to purchase the rest of the force packs. Unfortunately, I’m on a budget that requires me to pace all that buying. So, recommendations? Do I get another “boring” core set (boring, only because I already have all the cards), do I purchase the EoD expansion and satisfy that craving, or do I go back and pick up a few more Force Packs. I would think the latter would be the least productive as it would probably still require a second core set, first. However, on that note, I can use OCTGN to build decks that require a second core set, but I refuse to use any cards I have not purchased at least once because I respect copyright’s intended purpose, and I want this game to succeed. Any thoughts?

Thanks guys, I appreciate the clarifications. Now, I'm ready to start experimenting with deck builds. Hopefully, I'll also find or convert some other players from around here. Of course, I've only got the one core set, so I need to decide if I want to get a second, or go for the expansion, or some force packs. I know having two cores is pretty essential, but man, I'm so behind, and I just want to have ALL the cards in my hands! Thanks again.

Okay, after reading this post, I am thoroughly confused. Let it first be known that I am extremely new. Just got the core set a few weeks ago, and aside from trial plays, have yet to find anyone else that plays in my area. But rereading some rules has clarified a couple things. So is the reason you would choose the smaller group for your affiliation so that you always have at least one of that resource (as long as it's not exhausted) available when one of those cards pops? Meaning the affiliation card itself? Otherwise, I totally don't get the splits and why it's advantageous to go small.

Looking for East Tennessee area players
derekwildstar replied to dbmeboy's topic in Star Wars: The Card Game - Organized Play
Dangit, if this were 10 years ago, I'd be in Murfreesboro! Db, I was just in Jonesboro last weekend. If I had only known. Well, I know my wife wants to go back up there for a ghost tour. So, maybe I'll let you know if that happens. -
Boba Fett - Worthless as he seems?
derekwildstar replied to Samwise Gamgee's topic in Star Wars: The Card Game
Sadly, Boba Fett's game card has finally come down to reflect the fate of his character in the movies. After Empire, we all sought to get his action figure and thought, "Man, Boba Fett is awesome. I hope he gets more screen time in Return." Years later, Return of the Jedi comes out, we're all watching to see how awesome Boba Fett's gonna be, and what happens? He gets taken out like a Bizzy by a blind Han Solo. Sure they brought him back later in the EU, but let's be honest. Movie Boba, never lived up to his fan expected potential. So sad, his card does the same. Perhaps later expansions will fix him up right. -
Chattanooga, TN
derekwildstar replied to Oneabsolute's topic in Star Wars: The Card Game - Organized Play
I live in Knoxville/Oak Ridge area. Not sure what the possibilities are, just got the core set. However, if you guys have something brewing in Chattanooga now since this original post in January, I would be interested to see about coming down for a match or so. If I can get free of the wife and kids for a day. Or maybe I can drop them off at the aquarium. -

I feel your pain, db. I'm close, but not close enough. By the way, why hasn't this thing been stickied? -

Recently, I was looking up stuff about the game as I am new to the game. Somewhere out there on the internets I ran across a web page that had an image of some reference cards for how to play the game. They were not house cards or title cards, but they were color cards that looked to be made by ffg. Next to them it said something to the effect of print these out for easy reference. Unfortunately, it was not a link and I could find nothing to click on for printing out. Does anyone have any idea what I am talking about and where I could find these cards to print out for myself and my friends to use in learning the game? Dont have time to search right now. Thanks in advance.

Squid89 said: I found another video that has some great close-up shots of the various components (dice, ships, cards). youtu.be/LXzdNvr-11c If the link doesn't work, go to YouTube and search for "Four Days of Gen Con: Star Wars X-Wing" by generalcollectibles. Nice thanks for the link! Can't wait for this game!

I'm new to the game, and I'm hoping I can get the family involved. So far I think it's going to be: wife - Targ, me - stark/baratheon, cousin - baratheon/stark. In other words, we'll prob. be switching decks back and forth. What would be the best way to expand these houses to generate interest for my family and help us all have pretty well balanced decks/competitive decks? At this point, we're not looking for tourneys or anything. Just home play around the table. What chapter packs/expansions would be best? Also, keep in mind I'm operating on a limited budget. Thanks in advance!

Okay, I did a search on this and didn't really find anything helpful, so I guess I'll go ahead and post it. I'm a brand new player, brand new as in just bought the core set and haven't even played it, yet. I live in the Knoxville area and I am looking to see if there are any Tennessee players in this area that post here regularly and play regularly. Please let me know, send me a message, post here, whatever. Like I said, I'm new to the whole thing, so I don't really know how things work. Thanks in advance, Derek Wildstar
