Another thing .. if an enemy makes an attack outside the combat phase there is mostly no action window where you could play feint before declaring the enemy as the attacker because the enemy is already declared as the attacker

-
Hi,
meanwhile we got a couple of effects which let an enemy attack outside the combat phase.
It is possible to play cards with the Combat Action-keyword like Feint in such attacks?
If i read the rules correct, then the answer is no (Page 23):
Some action triggers are preceded by a specific phase of the game. This type of trigger means that the following action can only be triggered during the specified phase. For example, an effect with the trigger “Quest Action:” can only be triggered during an action window of the quest phase. Actions without a specified phase can be triggered during any action window throughout the round. (See the “Turn Sequence” chart on pages 30-31.) The hero card Glorfindel provides an example of an action that can be used during any player action window. The event card Radagast’s Cunning provides an example of an action that can only be used during the quest phase.

and when it is not discarded .. instead placed on top of your deck .. whose deck is meant? The owners deck or the controllers deck?

Hi community,
after a look at this card: O Elbereth! Gilthoniel! (O Elbereth! Gilthoniel!)
Response: After a non-unique enemy attacks you, put that enemy on the bottom of the encounter deck. If your threat is lower than that enemy's engagement cost, set your threat equal to the engagement cost of that enemy.
When do the response trigger during an enemy attack?
- after declaring the attacking enemy?
- after declaring the defender?
- after resolving the schadoweffects?
- after determining combat damage?
I think .. after attacks you describes the whole attack including all steps from declaring the attacking enemy to determining combat damage. So i can play it after the attack is completely resolved .. not a step before.. right?

Hi Folks,
quick questions about Samwise ..
Response: After you engage an enemy with a higher engagement cost than your threat, ready Sam Gamgee. He gets +1
, +1
, and +1
until the end of the round. We played "The Dunland Trap" some days before. Many effects from the questcards and encounterdeck let you directly being enganged with one or more enemies. So .. do such effects trigger Sam's response?
Setup:
Each player searches the encounter deck for a Boar Clan enemy and puts it into play engaged with him.
-> Sam gets +1
, +1
, and +1
until the end of the round? If yes, when does the Setup-Round ends?During game Hills of Dunland is in play:
Does Sam's response trigger each time an enemy engaged Sam this way? -
Secret Vigil is what Power in the Earth should have been.
Like ...
Condition.Attach to a location. Limit 1 per location.Attached location gets -1
.Response: After attached location leaves play as an explored location, reduce each player's thread by the attached location's printed

Fine .. thx alogos.

That's the old definition of surge from the core set.
Surge happen whenever the phase.
Where can i find the "new" definition?

The time-mechanic is the answer against turtling with low-thread-decks.
i like the time-mechanic .. some stresstest for your deck can be good

Possibly you can "pass" an "Enemies attacking Player"-Step ....
- First Player resolves all enemy attacks against him
- Before 2nd Player resovles his enemy attacks, he plays "Follow me!", so he becomes the First Player.
- Next Turn is on 2nd Player ... so the new 1st Player will be "passed".

Ok .. another question about "Small Target" .. the wording of the card specifies exactly one shadow card. What about an enemy with 2+ shadow cards?
a) I simply choose one of his shadow cards and hope that there is no effect?
b) all of them are not allowed to have a shadow effect for using small target?
I prefere a)....

By Thalin we search for cards which "reveal and add" new enemies to the staging area .. what about cards which only "add" enemies out of the encounter deck or discard pile. Does Thalin works here?

Hi GrandSpleen,
thanks for your answers. We played it so. All allies left play when placed facedown under ancient barrow. Tom Bombadil was discarded without effect after ancient barrow left play as an explored location.

Hi Folks,
after playing Fog on the Barrow-downs and Acient Barrow (http://hallofbeorn.com/Cards/Details/Ancient-Barrow-FotBD) hits the staging area while staging.
1) What happens with the allies, do they leave play, when they go face down?
2) Tom Bombadil is an ally .. what happens, when he goes "on his owner's hand"?

Mmm, nice question. Until now i've played Bofur that he goes back to the hand at the and of the phase. But now ... i think i will return him after quest successful and before placing progress tokens.
-
thx for clarifing this

-
Mmm, i you play them on a character of another player, the other player gains control of this attachment. if the encounter deck "plays" an attachment on your charakters/deck, you gain not control of this attachment (Rules page 25)
But there is not statement about attachments you play on enemies or locations. So you don't loose control of attachments if you do not attach them to another player... mm, ok.

Which shadowcard let you discard a forest snare? mostly you have to discard an attachment you control and forest snare is not under your control, isn't it?

Combat Actions playable outside the combat phase?

Hey, you write hopefully, so you're not sure?
A combat sequence is not equal to combat phase. So i think you can not do any combat actions like 'Dawn take you all' or 'Great Yew Bow' outside the combat phase.
