I have two Core Sets, myself. The only set of cards that are not sleeved are the second set of Damage Cards -- to keep them separate from the other set. Other than that, every card is sleeved . . . just in case. I do like the idea of duplicates of unique pilots unsleeved, though.

Yes. Give it a shot. I, too, have had a great experience with FFG's Customer Service for the same reason (a Y-wing dial, in my case). . . . And it's FREE.

While at Gen Con this year, I made some time to visit the GaleForce Nine booth. I picked up one of the 3'X3' game mats. They are made from a excellent quality vinyl. I might have to get the "Space Station" Game Mat in the near future.

I just upraded from the Plano 5231 Stow n Go to BattleFoam trays and the P. A. C. K. Go (Backpack) -- for main storage and toting the collection as a whole. I'll still use the Plano for carrying single squads. I still need to get the Wave 3 Fleet Trays. Soon . . . I hope.

In one word. yes. Yes, the expansions do come with additional pilot and upgrade cards the Core Set does not have. Heck, all the Initial Wave expansions have upgrade cards that the Core Set does not have.

At Gen Con, I picked up: 1 HWK-290 (that may change, if I see a viable reason to add one more) 2 B-wings (I may add one more) 2 TIE Bombers (I may add one more) 1 Lambda Class Shuttle I will say, it will be interesting to see what builds will be added to the list.

Here's a review from Figures.com: http://www.figures.com/forums/news/37052-advance-review-wizkids-star-trek-attack-wing-miniatures-game.html For those going to Gen Con, this part is for you: Star Trek Attack Wing officially launches this week at Gen Con, and will be widely available at your local game store soon after. The Starter Set will run approximately $36, and the expansions $14 each. As with the X-Wing game the prices can seem a little daunting at first, but remember how much you’re getting and that each expansion increases your option for every Attack Wing game you play. WizKids has plenty more Attack Wing on the way, too, with a Gen Con “Khan Exclusive” Captain, a second wave of expansions coming later this year (and the rule book’s explanation of initiative offers a very tantalizing hint as to what Factions we may see down the road), and best of all the Dominion War Organized Play Event. Make sure your venue is signed up for this tournament series running September - February with monthly game rules, participation prizes, and limited edition prize ships! To get more information on Attack Wing and the Dominion War event, head over to WizKids Games. "As with the X-Wing game the prices can seem a little daunting at first, but remember how much you’re getting and that each expansion increases your option for every Attack Wing game you play." Here's my concern. The "starter ships" are not included as an expansion. If you want to play with multiple Galaxy Class ships, or any ship from the Starter Set, it looks like you will have to purchase multiple Starter Sets. I will still defer judgement until I see the game this weekend at Gen Con.

Being a fan of both Star Trek and Star Wars -- the latter more so, are we discussing the 'verses, or the game(s)? I prefer the Galaxy far far away. It looks "more lived in. the Trek universe is a bit too clean, in my opinion. As for the games, I playtested X-wing, and have been playing it since "day one". I will defer judgement on Attack Wing until after Gen Con. Being a fan of Fantasy Flight's "FlightPath" System, I plan to demo the game a few times. I will take into account all aspects: the actual gameplay -- the use of the FlightPath System, the design of the pieces (ships) -- we're talking WizKids here, so not really expecting much, and most importantly; the price point -- if it's on par with Fantasy Flight ($39.99 for the Core Set alone) -- Maybe, or is WizKids planning to gouge us, because we know it's Trek (for the last game, Fleet Captains, it's priced at $100.00 for the Core Set) -- No thanks! We'll see in a few days at Gen Con.

All the ships and cards mentioned here are wonderful additions. Now, with the launch of the Edge of the Empire Role-playing Game, what I would love to see are a few more of the ships, transports and other combat craft; for example: the Cloakshape Fighter and the perennial favorite, the Z-95 Headhunter, et al, featured in the Core Rulebook. With that, we might be capable of combining the RPG and the miniatures game into one great gaming experience. We already have the YT-1300 and Firespray to get us going. How about the Ghtroc freighter (I.J.'s suggestion) from the "classic" WEG Star Wars RPG. I'm sure there will be more ship ideas coming when the (rule)books for Age of Rebellion and Force and Destiny come out Here's hopin'. At least we have Gen Con, next weekend, to push -- heavily some of these ideas onto the powers that be.

I would just like to add my experience with FFG's Customer Service. I, too lost a (Y-wing) maneuver dial and a "2 Bank maneuver template". I put in a request. Got a confirmation email the next day. And by the the end of the week, I received the missing components -- along with some surprizing extras: two "Action Tokens (Focus and Evade; on the same card), and a hand-written note thanking me for my business. A second encounter, I had to replace some model/base pegs that had snaped in two. An equally pleasant experience. In this gamer's opinion, Fantasy Flight's Customer Service is top shelf.

I'll be there as well, arriving on Wednesday (afternoon). The only tounament I'm in is the NA Championship. Which leaves me free for anything that might, and usually does come up during Gen Con. You and me, both, Daroe. I need to work on a squad as well, and with Gen Con less than a week away, I should work on that as well. And ask the Fates for some "good" mojo for my dice -- any little thing helps. See you there, and good luck.

So the X-Wing Tabletop episode is up for Geek Week.
SteveSpikes replied to DeadInkPen's topic in X-Wing
I, too, am happy that GEEK & SUNDRY finally "aired" this episode after waiting so long, and right before Gen Con to boot. It was good, and fun episode to watch despite the butchering of the rules of the "Den of Thieves" scenario. It was definitely played in the spirit of the game -- "A" for effort. -
I will give Star Trek: Attack Wing a chance. The only thing that will put the kabash on getting the game is the sculpts -- knowing the quality of WizKids is, in my opinion, sub-par, compared to (FFG) X-wing. I just hope I do get a chance to demo it next weekend at Gen Con, with everything that is going on. I will say this, it was Star Wars: X-wing . . . of course, that made me a fan of the "FlightPath" System. Again, there are so many untapped properties that could utilize the FlightPath System. I could see FFG, or another license put the system on Battlestar. Sadly, I prefer the "Orginal", but the FlightPath System would work better with the "reimagined" BSG.

That's not too shocking. EB/GameStop is expanding their gaming offerings to include tabletop games. This has been i the works for sometime now. It's just taking time to phase in the tabletop games in all the stores. The last time I was in my local GameStop, a few months ago (in May, I believe), they had yet to have tabletop games available.

I was thinking about replacing the "requisite" ion cannon turret with the new Blaster Turret on a Y-wing, but that will have to wait. I read (on another thread, here) that Wave 3 won't be LIVE for the North American Championship Tournament. So that will have to wait,
-
That may be -- that Wave 3 won't be used in the tournament, itself. I could just see the organizers dropping them in THE FINALS (a la the "Kessel Run" Tournament). . . . . On the other hand, nah. , considering Wave 3 is mainly comprised of "support" ships It would be nice to see them in action, though.
-
Yeah. I have a good feeling that those making the trip to Gen Con (Aug. 15 - 18) in just over two weeks might get the jump on the rest of you. The downside (This is a good thing) is Wave 3 will be LIVE for the North American Championship Tournament, that Saturday. Which gives us an extra day to set up a squad, and put Wave 3 through its paces. Unlike last year's Inaugrual Tournament, where we had less than a day to set up a workable squad.

Guess I will be playing a lot of pick up games at Gencon….
SteveSpikes replied to Lord_of_Itza's topic in X-Wing
If memory serves, the convention center has a limited number of lockers. But they tend to go fast. I believe they may only be used by one person, one day at a time. I do not know the rules for the use of the lockers off hand. -

Hothie, I will be there at least on Friday I am hoping to maybe get into gencon to at least see what is up and coming. and I will always be up for a pick up game with anyone who wants to. but hothie I really do wanna play you and see if I can bring something challenging to the table for you. I am sorry to hear that your better half and younger half wont be there. they were so nice and megan just loved doodle. Megan will be working Friday Saturday and sunday so I will have tons of free time to play everyone!!! YAY!!!!! am wondering though can I buy passes into gencon at the door? or can I only get them online? Dave, will this be your first Gen Con? If it is, you will be like a deer in headlights (Speaking from experience here). Just take it easy. To start, wander through the Exhibitor's Hall. A lot of great (and up 'n coming) games can be found there. Don't forget to make your way to Hall "F" -- Where Fantasy Flight is holding their events -- Just hang out, meet the (Indy) gang. If you do make it on Friday, you might want to check out FFG's "In-Flight" Report 2013. It's FREE! It's the "State of the Company", if you will, hosted by FFG Founder, Christian Petersen. Hope to see you there. -

I'm under the presumption that Wave 3 will drop at Gen Con. With that said, I'm glad we, the players (in the NA Tournament), will have an extra day to prepare -- unlike the Inaugural Tournament last year. But we'll see, come Gen Con. I've come to expect the unexpected where Fantasy Flight is concerned. -
I just have to say, brilliant idea for your ID tokens. I need something like that for my ID tokens. Just brilliant.

Dave, there are two groups that I know of, at The Game Preserve - Fashion Mall Commons (north side), and The Game Preserve - Greenwood (south side). Depending on you're location, you may choose one, or both. I do know that the north side location has a time set aside for all Fantasy Flight games. Alas, it is on Thursday, if that is a problem. They also have a Saturday set aside for games, in general (consult the events' calendar on The Game Preserve website). If you pop in with those games, I'm sure you'll find someone to throwdown with. There is one other game store, on the east side; Saltire Games. They do have a huge space set aside for gaming. Good luck.

Yeah! This is my first time back to the FFG Forums in a while. Upon my return, I was, like, WOW! They fixed things up, and now the forums are flying -- no more waiting. Keep it up, FFG! Well done.

I would put Arvel Crynyd in a "fun" squad -- nothing competitive. I haven't seen him in any competitive squads. Arvel might be useless now, with the upcoming Anti-pursuit Laser upgrade. As for A-wings, I would prefer Green Squadron Pilot (with Push the Limit).

I currently own the Plano 5231 Double Cover Stow N Go Organizer, Porche Red: http://www.amazon.com/Plano-Molding-5231-Double-Organizer/dp/B000HJ9514/ref=pd_ybh_8 which is overpacked -- no room for my Wave 2 collection. The plan is to get something from BattleFoam: http://us.battlefoam.com/ at Gen Con Indy this year to fill the need to store my collection -- including the upcoming Wave 3 ships. As a matter of fact, the BattleFoam booth will be the second stop in the Exhibition Hall (FFG will be my first stop that weekend. ).
