  1. So has the information that dropped on the Defender, and its uprade cards, changed the number of expansions you plan to get at launch (or soon thereafter)? I might get, in total, four Defender expansions.
  2. Great scenario. I'd say you've got eveything covered from the number of asteroids to Imperial reinforcements. Would love to see pictures and/or video of the gameplay.
  3. Well said, Hrathen. I could not have said it any better. I am a Star Wars fan, first 'n foremost. When WotC came out with Star Wars Minis, I was exstatic, . . . and bummed when they lost the license. Now Fantasy Flight has picked up the ball, and ran with it. The great thing is I haven't heard of Fantasy Flight Games until I heard that they're making a Star Wars (miniatures) game, the LCG (I'm still trying to get into that), and later on a role-playing game. I played the prototype game of X-wing at Gen Con the year or so before the Initial Wave was released. I totally fell in love, as many of us here, with the free-flowing play of the FlightPath System. I was like, where are the grids (lol). No grid. Sweet! Fantasy Flight, you have a life-long fan. Keep up the great work.
  4. If that's not the God's honest truth.... I was that guy... First few games I played, I kept thinking 'Man, I really suck at this. I don't think I'll ever buy any of the ships...' Granted, I've kept my purchases most under control. Bohrdumb, I'm with you there. At first I blew chunks at figuring out maneuvers (bumping into everything that flies), and tactics all together. As I play more games, I feel I'm progressing -- slowly, but surely. Each new game, win or lose, is a learning experience. So I kept at it, because of my love of Star Wars and this game. As for purchasing stuff, If I could, I would only buy the upgrade cards until the next wave comess out, of course. Gotta have 'em all. Good luck.
  5. I, like a few others here, was fortunate to be part of the Beta Team for the initial launch of X-wing. When Mr. Petersen said that "X-wing is the most sucessful game we've [FFG] ever had.", it gave me that special feeling of being part of something bigger than myself (. . . that warm, fuzzy feeling; if you will).
  6. I bought it when it first came out, but I don't use it competitively. For tournaments I prefer to roll my own dice. Also, when I roll badly, I can blame myself; not some randomizer program. It also has the dice for the role-playing game, which is a bonus.
  7. When a Rebel player is down to their last Hull Point -- "I've lost R2!"
  8. As did I just recently, when the peg broke off of a X-wing. I just took a picture of the damage, and added it to the request. I did find out that replacing ships could take just a bit longer to arrive. However, that could be due to when I put in the request. *shrugs* Good luck.
  9. Not to mention, there is no charge for the replacements from Fantasy Flight. Good luck.
  10. Yeah. But as I said, the next person must be willing to bow out as a participant in the tournament, and take the role of the TO. It will be difficult to find a willing soul, since everyone wants to play.
  11. The only problem I really have with the tournaments at a "local" level is the fact that the Tournament Organizers are not versed on the fact that if a TO wishes to participate in the tournament, there has to be a second non-participant TO present. From the X-wing Tournament Rules [version 1.4]: The TO may participate in a tournament for which he or she is responsible only if there is a second Tournament Organizer present. This second TO must be present and announced at the beginning of the tounament, and is responsible for all rulings for games in which the primary TO is playing. During a tournament, there must be at least one TO who is not playing. Tournament Organizers and Judges for premier championship tournaments (Regionals, Nationals, and Worlds) are expected to commit their full attention to organizing and judging the event, and therefore are not permitted to participate in their own Regional, National, or World Championship events as players. Granted the majority of the second paragraph revolves around large tournaments. I understand these tournaments are meant to be fun, and everyone wants in on that fun. But there has to be a way to identify the TOs. The problem that I had at a recent event was that the Tournament Organizer "on record" was also a participant, without a "second" (non-paricipant) availabe to act as Judge. I had a few issues that I needed an "official" ruling. Since there was not a seond TO, I had to ask a friend to rule. There needs to be a way a venue, when applying to hold an event, to put the TO, and the second or more (if needed) on record, since the event itself has to be remitted to Fantasy Flight for approval. I can only surmise that one person can only say, "I'll be the Tournament Organizer." Done. He's the TO, no questions asked.
  12. I just tried to open the site. No problem getting to the main page. So, it looks like it's back up 'n running.
  13. Yeah. I'm having the same problem. I love this site. I really hope this gets solved quickly. With that said, R22, My guess is that's why the site's down. Since not everyone has Imperial Aces around the world, Voidstate is updating the site as we speak. It does suck that no one can use it during the "update".
  14. Can't wait to see how they turn out.
  15. I never loose to rebels, period. While many players are starting to use them effectively, I strongly believe that the empire has the advantage in competitive play. I do think that wave 4 and Tantive will change that however. Don't you mean competitively, Macar? With that said, Headhunter swarm vs. TIE swarm? That seems to be the question of how many to get finally when they do drop.
  16. I picked up a gaming mat from Gale Force Nine at Gen Con last year, and I really like it. With the news from GF9 of a NEW installment to their "Battlefield in a Box" line featuring "Turbolaser Towers" [from GF9's 2014 Preview video: http://youtu.be/yttx3QtcFTY?t=1m25s] I might just have to get the "Spacestation" mat just for that.
  17. My LGS gave a call today to tell me that my two packs are in. Unfortunately, I'll have to wait to pick 'em up until mid-week.
  18. I would think about bringing a YT-1300, mainly it's very forgiving for new players with the turret as the "primary" weapon, and it's very iconic. Just my two creds. Have fun.
  19. Yeah. My LGS stated around the 17th too. So while I was there Thursday night for some League play, I decided to put my name on two packs. Just have to have patience . . . just have to have patience. I CAN"T WAIT!!!!
  20. I played my first scenario, Mission #5 "Preystalker" (featured with the Firespray [slave 1]), a couple of weeks ago as part of league play at my LGS. This Thursday, we're playing Mission #6 "Undeniable Assets" (featured with the Lambda-Class Shuttle). The idea behind playing the missions as part of league play is. simply, to change things up from the standard dogfight. To keep things going, I hope Imperial Aces will have a few missions with the pack.
  21. It still states that Imperial Aces is still "on the boat". FFG has until the end of the month to produce the goods. I'm perfectly content to wait for my FLGS to get them in. Although, my patienence is finite.
  22. Hexes!? Really?! If you want to play on a hex board, you probably could find Starship Battles minis dirt cheap on Ebay. In one word -- PASS!
  23. Listening to the podcast now. Good job on covering Wave 4. Doesn't the Phantom have a "Crew" slot? If so, what would be the best fit in the Phantom?
  24. I would really like to see the Cygnus Spaceworks Alpha-class Xg-1 Star Wing (http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Alpha-class_Xg-1_Star_Wing), and the Sienar Fleet Systems GAT-12 Skipray Blastboat (http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/GAT-12_Skipray_Blastboat).
  25. Welcome to the party, pal. That was new to me too. Great find. Thanks for sharing.
