I like it. Well done, indeed. I might just have to "bookmark" these pages for future reference.

If this has been addressed, I apologize. So when will the asteroids "move"? I think the asteroids need to move before the ships reveal their maneuvers (Skill 0). That way you have the "Oh crap!" moment (You think it's a safe flightpath, but you didn't see that coming.).

The shields will take the hit (and critical hit). After that, any critical hit will deal "face-up" damage.

Super LoFi said: Say I roll two hits and a crit and my opponent rolls two evades and a blank. Does he choose which dice to cancel out? The "regular" hits are resolved first; then any critical hit left. The defender evaded the "regular", but the crit (face-up card) went through.

LSUedd said: in the planning phase, do we have to choose our movement all at once and place them face down? cant he player who moves last change his move after he sees the others? No. Once both players have declared that they both are finished placing the maneuver dials by the coresponding ships -- "Done."; "Finished.", you cannot touch the dials until that ship's movement is revealed.

Very nice. In the future, will we have the ability to print a finished squad in either a ".wps" or ".pdf" format?

I'll most likely get one YT-1300 and Firespray-31-Class patrol and attack craft. The price of these miniatures does factor into that, but being those ships are iconic outweighs the cost of the miniatures.

If you do make the trip down, it'll be great meeting you . . . in person. If not, good luck, and I hope you enjoy the game. See you in the future then.

Impressive, most impressive. I just bought simple felt mats.

. . . Whoops! I misread the post. Sorry.

Shanturin said: Actually, there is a way of regaining lost Hull point by repairing non-crit hits with R5-D8 According to R2-D2's card: "After executing a green maneuver, you may recover 1 shield (up to your shield value).", not hull points. So if you happen to take any hull damage before you manage to repair your shields, the hull damage remains at it's current level.

I just checked the website. A X-Wing "event" is not on "the books" for the next few months. It looks like they have Thursdays and Saturdays open, though. You could always call and see if they would put one or more on the schedule.

Budgernaut said: I think the TIE Bomber and B-wing will not be very equal. You'll need lots of bombers to equal the B-wing's point cost. For the B-wing, I'm guessing 3 attack, 2 agility, 4 hull, and 2 shields (or 3 hull and 3 shields). As for actions, it will have two proton torpedoes, target lock, a new ion cannon weapon (or the same one the Slave I has), and some pilots will have the expert pilot talent slot. The thing that makes the B-wing less attractive than the wave 1 craft is no astromech. Still, the B-wing is a better craft, so will probably be more expensive than the X-Wing. I think the Bomber will have 2 attack, 2 agility, 4hull, and 0 shields. I think it will have 1 or 2 missile loads and be the first Imperial craft to boast proton torpedoes. Maybe it will even have 2 of each. For other wave 3 ships, the TIE Defender is a must, and although less well-known, the E-wing should probably be its counter. The TIE Defender will be beastly, with 3 attack, 3 agility, 3 hull, 2 shields, missiles, ion cannons, the barrel roll, and of course elite pilot talents for most ship cards. I'm not familiar enough with the E-wing's capabilities to guess what its stats would be. I think one of the new things introduced in wave 3 will be the fixed (i.e. non-turret) ion cannon, but will probably still be range 1 and have the same effect. Well, such are my predictions. I think the B-Wing should have 4 shield points and 6 hull points -- Hear me out. The B-Wing is designed for direct assault on capital ships, and is the "replacement" for the venerable Y-Wing. As for mission loadouts, I think it should have access to any, and all types of secondary weaponry -- including a fixed Ion Cannon. starwars.wikia.com/wiki/B-wing_starfighter

El_Tonio said: The card reads: "This card counts as two damage against your hull." So, does this ignore shields? If so (that is, if you ignore shields), it is possible you might destroy and already damaged ship even though it has full shields, correct? For example, if a rebel ship only has one or two hull left, and R2-D2 has repaired it's shields to full (or even 1 or 2), drawing this card as a critical hit would still destroy the ship. It just means, if your X-Wing; for example, has "full (2) shields" courtesy of R2's repairs, you lose both shields, and you're down to any remaining hull points you have remaining.

Could the defense guns fire and were destroying them an objective of he scenario? I liked the looks o the table and the defense guns would add some fun for scenario games. Thanks, Tim I played that scenario at Gen Con. From what I remember, the turrets fire at a maximum range of 2. I don't recall what their "skill" rank was off hand, or what the set up would be -- how far apart the turrets need to be from another turret. The goals for a Rebel victory were destroy 4 turrets (?), or eliminate all the TIE Fighters. I would really like FFG to make a version available to play at home, using tokens -- a la the asteroids from the Core Set . . . I also recall that the turrets rolled 2 Attack/Defense dice. I could be wrong though. If I remember anything else, I'll post it here.

If you were lucky enough to get a copy of it, that is. I debated, and by the time that I decided to, they were sold out. You snooze, you lose Since Edge of the Empire RPG is an "open beta", you should be able to pick up a copy at your LGS, or through FFG.

I was referring to the randomness of the games.

Yes. That's what differentiates FFG's X-Wing Miniatures Game from Wizards of the Coast's Star Wars Miniatures Game/Starship Battles Game, is that you know what you're getting in the Core Set and Expansions.

The Game Preserve's hours are: Monday - Friday: 10:00 - 9:00 Saturday: 10:00 - 9:00 Sunday: 12:00 - 6:00 . . . So if any of you do happen to make an appearance at the "event", and come early; or decide to stay after the event time, perhaps we might be able to have a quasi-competitive game. I'll be sure to bring my "collection" -- so far. We'll see what happens.
