  1. First day this game was announced, it showed Mon Cala, instead of Mon Calamari
  2. Just more of Star Wars canon being simplified for the cool/we don't care factor.
  3. Can we just rename him to Carnor Jax.
  4. Well I learned one new thing, they do read the forums. This is my prediction list. All the ships on it are picked for being the most easily recongizable. Obviously they know what ships to pick Placing my bets on Tie Defender, Z-95, YT-2400, Sentinel Shuttle for the next wave. Starfighters Tie Interceptor Tie Bomber Tie Defender Tie Scimitar Skipray(Empire/Neutral) A-Wing B-Wing Z-95(Rebel(NR)/Neutral) E-Wing K-Wing Starviper(Neutral) R-41 Starchaser(Neutral/Rebel(NR)) Preybird(Neutral/Empire) Transports YT-1300(Neutral/Rebel) Han Solo YT-2400(Neutral) Dash Rendar Firespray(Neutral) Boba Fett Aggressor (Neutral) IG-88 YV-666(Neutral) Bossk JumpMaster500(Neutral) Dengar G1-A(Neutral) Zuckuss/4-LOM HWK-290(Rebel(NR)/Neutral) Kyle Katarn Sorosub 3000(Neutral/Rebel(NR)) Lando Lambda Shuttle(Empire) Sentinel Shuttle(Empire)

    Wave 3 ships

A-wing really shouldn't have been cheaper/swarm ship. It should be a trade between firepower and speed/agility when compared to a X-wing. Though if your looking for roles to fit future ships in. Then the Skipray Blasboat and R-51 Starchaser would fill a new role between large ships and fighters. These ships are basically fighters but with extra slots for other pilots instead of one. The Z-95 would fill the role of the cheap fighter for the rebels but it would still be slightly above a tie fighter since it has shields. The Tie Defender would be the most expensive fighter for the Empire. Then the YT-2400 would offer a different big ship. Honestly though the top 5 ships that should appear in X-wing before anything else are the B-wing, Tie Bomber, Tie Defender, Z-95, and Outrider(YT-2400). Then the game should go on expanding with new packs of pilots with fighters.

Prequel ships: risk losing players EU ships: risk losing players Wait, and produce sequel ships in 2015: risk losing players Sure would like to be a fly on the wall at FFG right now! I think after the next wave of ships (B-wing, TIE Bomber, Shuttle and YT-2400 - IMHO) they will skip EU ships in favor of Prequel ships. EU ships may be changed drastically by the new movies from Disney so I think that will count them out – for now. I think maybe the forth wave could be a new core set for the Naboo/Clone War period with a couple of expansions. The Falcon, Slave 1 and Y-wing would still be playable pieces. Clone War Starter Vulture droid Starfighter x2 N1-Starfighter Wave 1 - Clone War Expansions Vulture droid Starfighter Scarab class droid Starfighter N1-Starfighter Z95 Headhunter Starfighter Wave 2 - Clone War Expansions Nantex-class Geonosian Starfighter Delta-7 Aethersprite-class light Interceptor G9 Rigger Frieghter (Anakin's “Twilight”) Firespray 31 (Jango Fett “Slave 1”) *coundn't think of anything better Wave 3 - Clone War Expansions Droid Tri-Fighter Advanced droid Bomber ARC-170 Eta-2 Actis-class light Interceptor Of course this is all just wishful thinking on my part Name me a list of pilots that exist to go with all those ships. Anyway if FFG wants to continue the tradition of pulling names from the movies and EU for pilots; the next ships after the obvious ones would be the Tie Defender, Z-95, YT-2400, and Lambda shuttle since there is enough source material to get names for pilots.
  7. Punishstone said: B-Wing and Bomber are pretty much given. I wouldn't be surprised if a Death Star type turret ends up in Wave 3. I really hope FFG doesn't add the Headhunter; it's old and inferior to the X- Wing. You don't want the Z-95 because its old and inferior? Okay lets remove the Y-wing, Firespray, and YT-1300 since all these ships are inferior and old compared to the modern starfighters. The Z-95 easily can fill a role of a cheap fighter with shields and missiles that the Rebels can use and its also one of the most recongizable EU fighters of all time alongside the Tie Defender, and YT-2400.

Mu0n said: People offering 10 thousand ship options from all over the place from the Star Wars Universe also tend to NOT make a case that "more is better" and that the game wouldn't be diluted into an unbalanced pile of crap. Exactly, thats why this game should stick to the Original Trilogy era with a possible extension in the post-ROTJ era.
  9. Rince said: I am familiar with the extended universe (more or less). I just think that the average player is mostly familiar with the movies. So, releasing rare spacecrafts from the extended universe might not be that successful financially, since most players could not really relate to the new expansion, which might prevent them from buying it. But I could be wrong… Yep your wrong, because the Average Star Wars fan or someone who just seen the movies isn't playing this game. Also people will buy anything with a Star Wars label. This argurement where people won't buy something from the EU is used again and again for no reason. Just how bad did the sales hurt for games like KoToR, SOTE, etc because they weren't based off and using movie knowledge material only?

    Wave Three?

KevinBakon said: It's possible thst Disney will not even recognize the EU. Apparently, they pulled the plug on the upcoming Star Wars 1313 game because it wasn't related to the new trilogy. The EU fiction quality is kind of a mixed bag and it's not necessarily canon. Sure, the fact that Maarek Steele is a pilot means that some of it has been acknowledged, but I wouldn't be expecting any Ssi-Ruuk or Yuzhaan Vong. In fact, my preference would be to throw everything post-Endor away. Clone Wars era stuff is obviously canon, so that is possible. Except Droid Fighters don't have pilots, there is literally almost zero source material to draw from for Squadrons, pilots, etc. Same with the clones but theres at least a few named pilots not counting Jedi. Also think before you say, throw away "everything post-ROTJ." Don't be blind and just toss away the 10% of the good stories that exist in that era because someone told you all the bad stories. Clone Wars, Dark Times, and Old Republic eras are just as bad as the current state with Post-ROTJ EU.

I picked from the good EU sources only(Jedi Knight, Shadows of the Empire, Thrawn Thrilogy, Backgrounds of movie characters, X-Wing, and a few other fighters that didn't come from good stories but were interesting and felt like they fit the classic Star Wars fill.). I personally don't think we need to expand this game past the Rebellion(New Republic) vs Empire era. The Clone Wars era is for the kids, Yuuzhan Vong only have three fighters and nobody is writing about them anymore, The Old Republic era is a cluster of a giant timeline, and the later Legacy/FOTJ eras aren't exactly appealing unless you talking about the Legacy comics and not the terrible novels. Obviously a few aren't exactly fighter type ships such as the shuttles and Lando's ship. This list doesn't include stuff that looks like exact duplicates of other starfighters such as the "hundreds" of X-wing series ships, and it doesn't include one-off ships that never appear again in the EU. Overall this list can be shortened easily to just this 1. Tie Interceptor 2. Tie Bomber 3. Tie Defender 4. Preybird 5. Skipray 6. A-Wing 7. Z-95 8. B-Wing 9. E-Wing 10. R-41 11. YT-1300 12. YT-2400 13. HWK-290 14. Firespray 15. YV-666 16. Aggressor Which would cover pretty much the most important starfighters/transports in the GCW era. This would give the game a total of 20 fighters. I just copied and pasted this from my original post. The list goes through the more renowned starfighters and selects the best that fit the actual Star Wars feel.

I noticed that except for the R-41 starchaser you didn't include any of the cool EU fighters from the TIE fighter video game (like the Gunboat, Missileboat, TIE avenger or T-wing). Does the R-41 pop up in other stories? R-41 pop ups as a early use starfighter for the alliance in TFU:2 which generally is a horrible source that should be forgotten but it looks good none the less seeing it at least used. It also pops up in Mysteries of the Sith expansion for Jedi Knight: Dark Forces. Also the TIE Defender is from Tie Fighter. The rest weren't included because I doubt we will receive more than 20 fighters in the next few years judging on how slowly developed their other fighter game is.

Those generic named pilots we saw on the cards are actually using the appearance of named characters. Again, that suits me just fine, for the most part. Like, I consider myself pretty well-versed in my (movie) X-wing pilots - I can tell you who 'Dutch' and 'Pops' are, for instance. But those two dudes on the cards are unknowns to me. And using photos, they had to put somebody on the cards, after all. I'm cool with having a few options, but not every single guy in the movies. After all, how different could their stats be, anyway? Not to rain on your parade... but weren't Dutch and Pops Y-wing pilots? After the debaucle that was WOTCs Starship Battles I'm not hoping for much with this game. I'd love to be pleasantly suprised though! Go look at the WWII version of this, every pilot has a name. And since this game will just be a spin off, we aren't going to have a squad built up for 20 X-wings, more like 3-7 of them on the board so its easy to have a bunch of named pilots and not run out of names. Same for Tie-fighters. Plus like you said, you don't care, so it shouldn't bother you when they add a bit more life to the actual game instead of generic spam stuff that eventually gets phased out by better pieces in the future.
  15. I. J. Thompson said: Awesome. That gives me hope. While I admit that every ship you buy having a card for Luke, Wedge, Han, Chewie, Janson, Zev, and Bob The Guy Who Fixes The Photocopier could be a little tedious, knowing that there are at least two options for each ship eases my mind a bit. I do not want to have to buy Luke's X-wing, and Wedge's X-wing, and Biggs's X-wing, and Porkins's X-wing... Your not going to get half the pilots you named like Porkins, Biggs, Janson, Chewie. Those generic named pilots we saw on the cards are actually using the appearance of named characters.

IG-58 said: farseer said: I understand the want and need for Galactic Empire, but i want swarms of droid fighters and ARC fighters I will have to agree with you, and respectfully disagree with old WotC bud PloKoon. "Kiddie cartoon" it may be, but it's also both films & tier 1 canon. HOWEVER, I also think it needs to wait until a fair set of OT material is produced. Elsewhere, I suggested no less than the Y-Wing, A-Wing, B-Wing, TIE Interceptor, TIE Advanced (Vader's) and Millenium Falcon before moving on to the likes of droid fighters, Aethersprites, Naboo N-1s and so forth. Whatcha think? Doesn't matter if the films are Tier 1, The Clone Wars is massively marketed toward the kids now. Plus were still lacking in pilots and squadrons. Droid fighters especially don't have pilots since the fighters are droids themselves and I have never seen a single famous squadron of them like Rogues, 181st, etc.
  17. I. J. Thompson said: In all fairness though, I couldn't really see them making a different card for every named pilot in Red squadron, Gold squadron, etc... (I think they all have names now?) But they aren't going to be 60/40+ Pieces, more like 1 in a pack <.<. They might as well throw away the generic names and actually make every pilot seem to be a developed character. Plus the game easily look like they will be small based skirmishes so were not gonna have 20 x-wings vs 60 tiefighters.
  18. Well they are already using Named pilots as generic characters like Rookie Pilot, so it looks like we can count out on seeing any pilot characters other than the few famous ones...
  19. Actually, this game goes along with a Pilot+Starfighter+Gear routine, and Droid Starfighters lack actual pilots. and famous squadrons (Rogue, 181st).
  20. Scale isn't important, its not going to kill and ruin the game just because a Star Destroyer is only 4 times bigger than a X-wing.
  21. I would prefer if they didn't use pilots who are already established as characters for generic pieces.
  22. I prefer the Clone Wars stay away from this game. Its turned until complete kiddy crap since the cartoon started up.
  23. So will this game expand to include Star Fighters like the E-wing, Prey-bird, Starviper, etc, or will it be strictly be Movies? Hopefully this game sticks to GCW material only which would include the Movies up to before the NJO period.
