It's a pity though because Charge practically kept Lion afloat currently, no clue how they'll drop without it.

And another fiction where Lion get to job for another clan to show how great they are militarily.  I realize they have given Lion some off screen love but I would really enjoy if they would let them win a meaningful fight and actually show them using some frickin' tactics aside from surprise attack MOFO.

I think toturi will recognize aramoros voice, he will conclude the scorpion are trying to make a coup, and will marshall and army to fight back. No coup will actually happen, but to everyones eyes it will be so. In the end everything will be ruined because of miscommunication. "Tragedy is born in the silence of whats left unspoken"

To be fair to the poor Seppun, the Emperor chose to meet with his own son and heir in the most inner of the innermost sanctums in the Imperial Palace. It's not unreasonable for them maintain watch nearby, without necessarily having someone right with the Emperor in such a situation. I mean, who could imagine a blasphemy as profound as the Imperial Heir killing his father, and with the Hantei ancestral blade at that? This really was a "corner case" in the Seppun manual-of-how-to-guard-the-Emperor.
That said, Ishikawa, and perhaps others, could still see this as a complete failure of their most sacred duty anyway, honor being an internal thing to the individual and all. So they may offer their seppuku, yes. But I doubt that they'd generally be seen, from the perspective of a outside observer, as having actually failed, as much as taken completely off-guard by a situation so unique and extreme their plans hadn't even considered it...right up with a, what do we do if an Elemental Dragon descends from Tengoku and wants to kill the Emperor? That goes WAY beyond any reasonable contingency planning.
So, will he offer his seppuku? I suspect he probably will. Will it be accepted and allowed by his daimyo (or the new Emperor...hmm, an interesting, if REALLY specific question about Imperial protocol there)? I wouldn't surprised if it wasn't, and his honor was declared cleansed just by making the offer.
 
(Adding the standard disclaimer...this is just me musing and not based on anything I know as a writer, because I honestly don't know. Generally, if I muse or speculate on here or otherwise in public, it's about things I genuinely have no knowledge of in the story.)

Really cause Lion seem to have lost out to the Crane more then they are actually winning.  First fiction where Hotaru gunned Arasou down and they were then outmaneuvered from being able to reclaim Toshi Ranbo which the Crane took from them by military force in the first place.  They've lost to the Unicorn over Hisu Mori Torride (admittedly part of the "plan" but we'll see how well that plays out) and when they ran into the Dragon "army" they got out maneuvered by Mitsu's quick thinking to get his army a pass through their territory.  Now we have stupid Matsu (and his Ikoma advisor) to blind to see Asami scheming around him and Kage Sensei who is supposed to be one of the clans more politically minded individuals out maneuvered by Hotaru's husband.  
Yes, we've been told they were winning that war and the Crane are in desperate straights, but not much seems to have come from it as at every turn it seems to have lead to actual losses for the Lion and nothing too bad for the Crane.  They lost the city, lost the surrounding territory as its now Scorpion running the show there and things are supposed to remain status quo (i.e. Crane get the benefit of the city).  The Unicorn war is  about to kick off big time and who knows how that will turnout as the build up seems to be Lion kicked a hornets nest and the Moto are about to come knocking, and now we have the Fox getting cozier with the Crane.
Lion have been, outside of Toturi, on the receiving end of most of the real loses this story and don't really have many tangible wins to show for it.

Not a fan of the constant use of the Lion as the Worf of L5R, when in doubt have them beat up on the Lion.  Probably some baggage from O5R where they tended to get the same treatment

I am looking forward to (hopefully) Toturi totally punking Aramoro. I am a bit tired of the Scorpion being painted as the only adults in the room where as every other clan is blind children playing samurai dressup. It is time for other clans to show they have claws too and can see a predictable Scorpion assassination plot from a mile away.

Yay, the story can finally move forward! 
So, how long will it be before we see the next day? A year from now is my guess.
Also the rematch duel between Aramoro and Toturi will be fun hopefully.
 

This. He was being polite about it, but the impression I got was that he was offended and annoyed by Sotorii's intrusion as well, he just knew his place socially well enough to know he wasn't allowed to get angry, and - whatever he felt internally - kept a lid on it publically.
"I agree that you are an honored guest, Hantei Sotorii-sama,” he said, his voice solemn, “but your behavior has been…” Dairu swallowed. “It has been inappropriate. I must object to it on behalf of my clan, whose hospitality you currently enjoy."
For someone to say that directly to the Imperial Heir, before witnesses, is pretty serious stuff.
This. Regardless of the behaviour of the other two, Bayushi Dairu comes out of this whole escapade looking like a very promising samurai - courteous, competent, and honest. Of course, that's not necessarily an entirely promising scorpion samurai.
This. Whilst the old version of the Scorpion Clan Coup isn't happening (because characters who died in it are already dead and the story is moving in a different direction) we might well have something which looks very much like it because a lot of people will assume it's a coup if it's handled wrong.
Akodo Toturi knows first-hand the Emperor's intentions but even his own clan aren't taking his leadership all that well, and - if he's going to start being completely honest, he also knows (or at least suspects) the scorpion tried to 'fix' the Emerald Championship.
Added to the fact that Doji Kunawan would probably blame the Scorpion Clan for his father's death by sheer spinal reflex given half a chance, and the Scorpion's sudden acquisition of the Empire's second city via Imperial Protectorship, and the concept that it's all actually a scorpion plot to functionally replace the ruling family sounds painfully credible in-character

I won't presume to speak for FFG and their release of products--not my place at all. However, I will say that this story was conceived of, and written, quite some time ago, as part of the overall ongoing L5R story. It was really important for the readers and fans to gain some insight into the inner thoughts, motivations, etc. of the Emperor and his sons, because they're so integral to where the story is about to go. And, that's where I slam headlong into my NDA, so I'll keep it to that.

I'm happy that all of the mini-looking cards are full-sized instead, with their requirements slid under the player/ship boards.  Mini cards irk me.
I'm hoping they'll do a live play before release.  I feel their recent use of Streaming is a good direction.

I appreciate the effort to humanize Sotorri but I'm having a hard time swallowing it. Are we supposed to like and or sympathize with him now? In every story he appears in thus far he has been a total and complete jerk to everyone he encounters. We get a glimpse into his mindset here; he just wants a friend. Perhaps he would make more friends if he wasn't straight out trying to murder Bayushi Dairu and his own brother.

The one constant in his situation is himself. Reminds me of Kaiser Wilhelm II.

Sotorii is still not likable to me. Yes, his character and fiction are written very well here and definitely humanizes him, but he is still a punk. 
 
Is that weird in the stories time period? I thought we saw a similar age difference in another fiction. If anything, If the presumed son of heaven demands it, it will happen.
