Characters dragon abilities vs dragon tower
Nidhogg2 replied to jabib's topic in Talisman Rules Questions
I think that the rule you are talking about refers to the Draconic lords and the creatures in the inner region, like the hydra dragon and the hatchlings in the Dragonrealm, and not the dragon enemies in the Dragon tower... -
We interpreted it as you dosn't place dragon cards on the deck when you draw a dragon card with enemies or objects. That would just result in to much dragon cards and it would be to hard in the beginning just facing dragons (well, some cultists to). All in all I think the alternative ending played out quite good. If you don't like the extra management each turn with the dragon tokens, Domain of dragons makes the dragon expansion a bit easier to handle, just putting the dragon cards on top of the deck each time someone draws a specific adventure card. The only bad thing was that the dragon king didn't change through the game, so you did know from the start which one of them you had to defeat to win the game.

Ok, I thought that would be the case. Should be quite nice and more dangerous than "dice with death" from the original if you died all lives if you had no gold to pay
-
The rules clearly states that dragon cards does not count as adventure cards until they have been drawn and placed on the board. Therefor the Prophetess and the Sages abilities does not work on the dragon cards. Although the Dragon lore works as it is stated on the card that it only works on dragon cards, not ordinary adventure cards...

Séamus Mór said: Yes, warhorses help Craft characters most, and maybe this rule was made to help with game balance. BUT - You can't use 2 weapons but you can use 2 warhorses? Tosh. As this rule flies in the face of common sense, I shall ignore it. Maybe the Gladiator has trained the horses to fight with you No, I think it is as stupid as you think. We houserule it with only one warhorse per character.

Don't think it is a actual missprint. It's more like they left out some additional text about losing lives if you have no gold to pay..

The Wizard said: No doubt that he is a pain in the ass. The only chance you have when playing against the fire wizard is to hunt him down and attack him early in the game, every time you have the chance to do it. The ogre, troll, warrior, gladiator, minotaur, "highlander", assassin ( if he can afford to lose a life ) can kick him, after taking that pyroblast of course Regards Better yet to use a character who can attack him with psychic combat, thereby avoiding the pyroblast attack

Yes, but the Plainswalker has a encounter number of 1, so you actually teleport away before you have the chance to engage the goblin...

Hehe, nice. Did you play Talisman or Toadisman?

Dragon Priestess sacrifice and multiple enemies

Yes, but where does it state that I'll do the sacrifice before engaging in battle with other monsters? -
Dragon Priestess sacrifice and multiple enemies
Nidhogg2 replied to Nidhogg2's topic in Talisman Rules Questions
I guess thats the correct way to handle it. But if there are a dragon and a monster on the same space when I land on it, who do I encounter first? Can I chose freely who I will encounter first of the two? -
Yes I also find it very wierd. As you say, all other spaces are far worse than the original but this one space, which instead are less dangerous.. Dosn't make sense...

1. No 2. Yes 3. Yes

Cool work man Now I want to see the snakepeople too
-
In our group we discard it afterwards, but I don't know if thats the right way to play it :/

How does it work if the Dragon Priestess draws a dragon plus another strenght monster and she wishes to make a sacrifice to the dragon? Does she avoid the combat completely, or does she only avoid combat with the dragon? If the former, in wich order do you resolve the combat and the sacrifice? If you draw the enemies I know it is in the same order as you drew it, but if the cards are allready on the space? Also, what happens if she run into 2 or more dragons and wants to make a sacrifice? Do you encounter them as one entity, or do you make a sacrifice to them one at a time, thus making you roll dice at the temple several times in a row?

Are you supposed to only lose gold against it? What if you have no gold? Sholdn't you lose a life instead of gold in that case?

Persiatic said: Velhart said: Persiatic said: Don't understand your arguement with him loosing out on STRENGHT trophies?? Why would he ever want strenght trophies, he doesn't need strength because he can pyroblast everything, and as Ell said he does gain scales, so when he got his craft up a bit all dragon lord cards are just a roll over for him. He will have high craft to beat craft dragons and the rest he just pyroblast the **** out of. Infact all enemies are roll over for him after he gains like 3-4craft He also need strength trophies. You can't rely on craft. The only thing that makes the ability usefull, is that he can blast very strong enemies away, if he knows that he can't defeat them. But that;s not the problem why i argue. it makes no sense that if he can't collect trophy's with pyroblast, he can still collect the dragon scale. He can blast all the dragons away, and can easily gain those tokens. Well, with this story from elliot, this character becomes better than he was before, IF you play with the dragon expansion. I have to disagree he doesn't need strenght for anything, now that they changed the pit fiends so they are craft instead of strenght he really have 0 need of strenght and if you use the dragon tower inner region he just pyroblasts the **** out of the entire tower. Actually he needs strenght in the Dragon Domain-inner region. Because if you take a look at the Dragonstone mines you'll see that it's based on strenght now instead of craft like it used too But on the other hand he can go through the Crypt using his craft and fireball the Hydra dragon with no worries

He seems very week. S:2 C:2, plus can't have any followers makes him useless. Sure, you can kill off the other players quite easily, but that dosn't make yourself any stronger...

I'm not so sure about any number of players... I think that FFG have put 6 players as maximum because of the resources. If you play with more than 6 players there will be no guarantee for the resources (cones, coins and cards), to last for everyone. Sure you can play with more than six, but I would not recommend it.

Is the Alchemist really white? I think he has the similar skintone as a native american perhaps... Also Gypsys skin looks a bit yellowish.. Maybe it's just me.

Persiatic said: So when is it actually going to hit the stores? On the site it says August but I live in Sweden and when I have contacted some retailers they don't have any information or some have said October. Is it so that US will get it in August but Europe have to wait until October? I also live in Sweden, and yes. Usually we have to wait one or two months after the release in the US until we get it. Atleast so was the case with The Highland and The sacred pool.

When we play with the Dance Macabre-ending as a hidden ending, we use another card as the Dance Macabre card. Ex: The warlock quest-ending or The Sacred pool. Those two endings are ones that you can't use anyway in the hidden variant. I guess you can use both of them also as stand ins for Dance Macabre and Crown of Command.

Well, I played the 2:th edition for the first time when I was 10, so I don't think there should be any problem. Try to start small without the cornerboard expansions and with the regular Crown of Command-ending, if the rules seems to be to compact for new beginners.
