Now that you killed your avatar, you need another face ::laughter:: Anyway… interesting to notice that whenever Monterey can fail, he fails… Don't be to hard on poor Monterey. At least he managed to contribute to the game by finding a Yithian Rifle and a Golden Sword of Y'ha-Talla at the shop
  2. Full Doom Track said: Congrats Nidhögg! Chaugnar Faugn isn't an easy one to take down! I often play solo so I understand the feeling of not having anyone to share the feeling of winning with. At least my girlfriend is sympathetic when she isn't playing! I have a game coming up against Chaugnar Faugn soon so wish me luck! Did you log your victory in the Arkham Horror Statistics sheet yet? Thanks for sharing with us and congrats again! Thanks! Yes I did report it to the statistics sheet. Good luck to you taking on Chaugnar Faugn. Hope you defeat him before final combat, because he's tough!
  3. Thanks. Yeah, I know. When I have friends over we only play 1 investigator each, and I usually only have one or two friends over at the time. And when we play 2-3 investigators we often lose, so playing those 6 investigator-solo games have really made wonders to my morale
  4. I think this have to be the most epic Arkham Horror game I have played yet. I can't belive I did it. I beat Chaugnar Faugn in Final Battle. The boring part is that I was solo-playing, so I have no one to share my joy with… well, except for you guys I played with every expansion except MH and had 6 investigators: Monterey, Amanda, Norman, Lily, Tommy and Rita. First I tried to seal as normal, but with some setbacks I had only sealed 3 locations when the doomtrack was almost completely full. I then realised that I would be really lucky to seal those final 3 locations before the AO awoke, so I tried to go for a closing-win instead. At the same time I was trying to gear up for final-combat to, and with all clue-tokens saved from not-sealing gates, I thought I could have a chance against the AO. Actually I was really, really close to a closing all gates victory. Monterey was trying to close the absolute last one, but failed with all 3 dies. At the Mythos face a new Gate opened and Chaugnar Faugn awoke. The things that made me defeat him was: 1. Lilys Personal Story. 2 Doomtokens was removed at the start. 2. Sealing the Beasts Power. It was really good that I wasted time with this mission 3. Monterey buying all Magical Weapons he could find at the Curiosity Shop. Also Lily and Rita had 12 clues each so they lasted for 4 rounds. And I can say that they needed it. The fight was down to the last round. All other Investigators was already devoured except those two fine ladies. The Elephant God had only 2 doomtokens left. I needed 12 hits…. Rita goes first… rolls 6 hits. Then Lily…. rolls 5 hits with 10 dies. 3 dies left to roll… Need one more hit… 1 hit!!! I'm flying out of the chair chearing! Honestly, I would never have made it without Lilys PS and Sealing the Beasts Power-mission. I was really hard. I can't even imagine how hard it will be playing with Epic-Battle cards… And no, I didn't use them, It's hard enough without them. But maybee the next time
  5. If it's possible, I wonder if you could shange my resent report against Rhan-Tegoth to a Victory by Final Battle instead of a Loss. I tried out the final combat once more after I read on the forum that I had done completely wrong the first time. He becomes a bit easier when you realise that you don't need those extra successes he adds with his attack each time you attack him, just once per stamina token. In my first battle I was up in over 25 additional successes needed to remove a doom-token
  6. 1. Yes, you can. 2. No, you can only steal items from a character that YOU land on. And if you steal something you cannot engage in combat afterwards. It's one thing or the other.
  7. Strength is just a statistic number… The thief also has 3 strenght and he doesn't look that though either… Look at it this way.. Most characters are as strong or stronger than an icebear (strenght 2), just to get som perspective
  8. It's no barmaid, it's a tavernmaid Well, I guess you where right and I was wrong. At least I was right about the Spy. No ratcatcher there
  9. Velhart said: Tinned_Fish said: …and one of the characters looks like a Gladiator - with net and trident… It could be a retiarius warrior who fights with a net and a man catcher I think he's a slaver or perhaps a thief-catcher.
  10. Cruan said: How could he move the Werewolf after he actually moved? You roll 1, you move the werewolf, then you move, you draw the cards or whatever else He did right as far as I am concerned. You move the WW after you finnished your turn.
  11. I also got Kingsport as a x-mas gift. Maybe I will post some questions in this thread later as well. One of your questions I think I have an answer for anyway. The Urban Environment stays in play. You just look at the mythos card to find out where portas open and how monsters move, as well as where the new clue appears. Then the card is discarded without the environmental effect taking place. It's the same with Ithaqua but with weather environments instead…
  12. Kallabecca said: Nidhögg said: You can encounter characters on the Plain of Peril, so you didn't do wrong with that But the Troll, IIRC, doesn't have the choice about engaging in psychic combat, only physical combat. I know. That was wrong played by him. Just pointed out that encountering in Plain of peril was not.
  13. You can encounter characters on the Plain of Peril, so you didn't do wrong with that
  14. zealot12 said: Velhart said: I am glad that FFG made the opportunity that characters can become neutral in the city. It just hit me that there's very little chance to turn Evil in the game. I think there's an errata for the Village that rolling a 1 at the Mystic will turn you Evil(saw this in the PC version as well). But other than Mephistopheles, and cards like Pantheon there's no chance to turn Evil. I think there's a Quest reward that can change your opponent's alignment as well, and a spell(though it's only temporary), but nothing on board, in the FFG version, at least. Turning evil can also be pretty penalising, since there are very little unique benefits to being Evil, that a Neutral character can't enjoy as well. I think we're going to implement the Village errata for our games. Errata? On my board from FFG you become evil on a roll off 1. So there is no way less opportunities to turn evil than turning to any other alignment…
  15. Looks like The Sacred Pool just got a bit unnecessary. I mean a Stable deck in the City, plus Neutral alignment cards…
  16. Ok, just to get this thread going again… What alignment do you guys think the different characters will have?
  17. Hi guys. Sorry I havn't been updating this thread in a while. But no new games have been played Maybee we will be playing some game now around the holidays… darthmax: I think the Dreadknight can be very powerful if your lucky enough to keep your warhorse in the beginning and gain some additional craft for your spellcycling. Unfortunately that rarely happens in our games. I think he would be a better character if he started with 4 craft instead of 3… zealot12: The Ghoul is another one that never shines in our games. Only one time can I recall winning with him playing 4:th edition. That was one time battling another character on the CoC-space. Offcourse winning because of the life-leeching ability I think the Magus is ok. If he gets some followers he can easily try to beat the bosses in Highland or Dungeon and get some nice rewards. But we will see what's going to happen this tournament. The Magus and the Ghoul are yet still up for the title fight if I recall correct. And anything can happen
  18. I think the Knight must attack. How do you else handle the matter of the Knight being a lycan and the ending is Blood Moon Wherewolf where you have to attack other players? Pretty broken if all other characters are good and he can't do anything…
  19. Here are my reasons why I don't hold the other expansions in the same high regard: Sacred Pool: I think that this expansion is a bit unnecessary in the way that it adds a lot of adventure cards in advantage for neutral characters, wich they totally doesn't need. Why? Because the neutral characters are already the best characters of all alignments. They can cary all alignment-specific objects and followers and they can use both the Chapell and Graveyard. The good thing with being good or evil in the basegame was all the other cards like the Fairy or Phantom who only could be encountered by a specific alignment. Either if you where good or evil. But now in Sacred Pool neutral alignment characters get those cards to, which I think is a bit to much for a already really good alignment. Blood Moon: The Wherewolf is a poor mans Reaper. The Lychantrophy mecanic is weird. It's more beneficial to be a lychan than it being a "curse". These are the "bad things" with those expansions. I don't think they are crappy or anything. Most of the stuff in both of them are good and I enjoy them. I just don't see any really bad things in either Reaper or The Frostmarch. They are both good expansions with good content.
  20. Maybee I played it wrong then. Been playing that you must encounter the scale (and draw a new card) to have a chance to claim it, even if there already is a enemy on the space. Also I played it that you get the scale if you defeat an enemy, not just an enemy from the Dragon-deck. Example: The Troll lands on a hills space with a Red dragonscale and a Boar on it. He chose to encounter the Scale so he can claim it. He draws an object, but by defeating the boar he can claim the scale anyhow. But yeah it's more thematic to get the scales only from Dragons (well and cultists I guess), from the Dragon-decks.
  21. I vote for Frostmarch. Good balance of Adventure cards and Spells.
  22. Dam said: Nidhögg said: A funny thing is that the player who played the Grave Robber has won 4 out of 6 games, and the other 2 games that player havn't been participating in. Does this tell us something? That despite all the bitching non-Talisman players generally give the game about "it's a roll and move, all luck", skills matter too . Hahaha. Yeah, elite skillz…
  23. Sorry, we havn't played Talisman in a while. But this time we had a blast! Game number 6: Characters: Wizard, Sprite, Sorceress, Grave Robber We started out with Wizard, Sprite and Sorceress. We played with the Dungeon as an extra board. I thought this fight was another spellcyckling event. But it turned out to be something else. I played the Wizard and had a good start. I really gained a lot of craft at the beginning and looked at my competition as weak as the Sorceress had very bad luck in the beginning and lost lives upon lives, and the Sprite turned into a toad turn after turn. The Sorceress entered the Dungeon very beaten, and the last nail in her coffin turned out to be when she took to the Secret Passage and ended up in the Treasure Rooom, and was forced to fight the Lord of Darkness with only a craft of 6 or 7… She died and the player redraw the Grave Robber. The funny thing was that there was this item circulating, yes circulating as I stole it with the aquisition-spell from the Sorceress to begin with, then the Grave Robber stole it back because the effect of a adventurecard. The object in question was the Crown of the Pharao (or something simular). It gave you the choice to let creatures re-roll their attack-roll. It really come in handy. I think it was the first time I saw this very item in play. As you can make out it is a very powerful item. So, suddenly the newly drawn Grave Robber had almost taken up the lead from nowhere. Beginning the challange my Wizard. At this time the Sprite was almost counted out as she had turned into a toad 3 times (!) Suddenly the Grave Robber got a Talisman and was heading for the inner region. The ironical part is that my Wizard had 9 craft and Solomons Crown before he even came into play. I think I just f***ed up my thinking. I could have gone into the inner region sooner but was messing around in the dungeon instead. Well, it ended with the Grave Robber at the Crown where he met the Blood Moon Wherewolf, beating him as he was no lycan… Winner: Grave Robber Losers: Wizard, Sprite, Sorceress A funny thing is that the player who played the Grave Robber has won 4 out of 6 games, and the other 2 games that player havn't been participating in. Does this tell us something?
  24. Is it not time for a new update or little sneakpeek soon? *blink blink*
  25. GrimGuvna said: Special abilities and effects that apply to Adventure Cards also apply to Dragon Cards but only after they have been drawn and placed on the board. From the dragon rulebook. In essence once the Dragon card has come into play it becomes an adventure card as such. The philosphers special ability applies to adventurecards. As far as I am aware there is nothing that can influence a Dragon deck directly. Yes there is a item from one of the dragondecks that can.
