  1. Hey, Corbon, thank you very much, truly. Your reply is simply much much more useful than those negative comments and overrated comments on BoardGameGeek forum. I'm afraid I can only get the base game at the moment, because perhaps the earlier expansions are already sold out. But I've decided to buy the base game and try it out anyway. I've never played this kind of game before so I'm pretty excited.
  2. Another question: Just asked the store. Seems they sold out the 'Road to Legend' expansion. In this case, I can only get the base game. Saw some people say 'Don't play Descent without RtL expansion...'. Is this really the truth?
  3. Thank you Steve. Your answer is very detailed. I really appreciate that.
  4. Thank you for your guys' advice. I think I've got the idea now.
  5. It's all in the title. Just about to buy 1st edition last weekend but saw this product in the meantime... wondering when the 2nd edition is gonna be released?
  6. I've never played this sort of game before so I've totally got no idea as to how it's gonna be like when playing. However I'm a fan of the world of magic and sword, and I'm fond of PC RPG games as well, so probably I think I'd enjoy this game as well. If I buy this one, I will buy it with 'Road to Legend' expansion together because I heard someone saying that expansion is a must-have. I also read all the negative comments on BoardGameGeek, and they mentioned about some issues like imbalance, etc. I know that no game is perfect, so I want to ask you guys' advice: Do these flaws really matter compared to what I can get for my purchase? Better, if you can tell me a little bit what's the part of the game you like best. Thank you guys.
  7. It reads 'When this unit enters play, turn target support card facedown into a development". Is my opponent also affected by this? In other words, can I face one of his support cards down and put it into development? Another question: I guess if I can facedown my opponent's support cards, I can only put them as my opponent's development, never mine, correct?
  8. Updated: I think last night I used Chaos in a too defensive way, meaning I was too focused on development, draw, etc. Tonight, we played again and I changed to an offensive approach. Since Chaos' power is very strong, I won two rounds within 1 hour. But still, dwarf is very very tough... We tried another play and I used Dark Elf, my wife using Dwarf... and I lost at the end... Dwarves have many hit points and the ability to heal capital and the power is not weak as well... I think Dark Elf can win, but definitely needs some surprise strategies...
  9. Hi, guys, thank you for your suggestions. I was not complaining in fact. Although I lost games, this made me more desire to win them back. I think it's my personal reason that I didn't use Chaos properly. Let me try more tonight and I'll let you know. But it's truly much easier to use dwarf to beat my wife's Dark Elf.

Budmilka_fr said: That's one of the good things about this game : mostly every unit and support can make you draw or stack resources, so you can put everyone in your quest phase to draw a lot, with only 3 resources, or play a lot of resources for 1 card to draw. It's up to your strategy. So no there is no draw cap... But... you may lose when your deck is empty, that's a defeat condition, so if you draw a lot and cannot burn enough opponent's zone, you may lose. About Scout keyword. It is one of the best keyword in the game (Necromancy might be second), because discarding an opponent early in the game forces him to draw more cards, so he would have to build up his quest zone, and if you target this zone, destroying enemy units or supports, he will draw few cards and keep discarding some with your scout unit. Wow... that's something new to me. Learned. Thank you very much!
  11. We tried 2 rounds tonight, me playing Chaos and my wife playing Dark Elf, and we only used base game cards. I lost both of them. The thing is: Dark Elf has annoying supports such as the one that can return a unit to owner's hand when it's being killed, another example like the one that forces me to return a unit with 1 hit point to my hand. Moreover, she used some annoying scouts to discard my cards and used Chill Wind to corrupt my unit and stood hers... Man, I guess the base game cards for all 6 races should be balanced, isn't it? But why I feel like it's never gonna use Chaos to win Dark Elf? How should I play Chaos on earth?
  12. Did I misread the rule book or there is just no draw cap? If you put a bloodthister in your Quest zone, does that mean you can get 6 cards every turn? In that case, you and your opponent both have the chance to draw too many cards in a turn and that may make some cards like Scout a bit useless... I'm still new, so if I'm wrong, please correct me.

Don't say this game is dying. How could it be? Don't listen to the doomsayers. We don't get the updates we should be getting, but I don't think that that means the game is dying. And you're right, the game is marvelous. Welcome. And in fact, I came here from AGoT forum... I've been playing AGoT for a few months and I've nearly bought all the expansion packs of it. AGoT is fabulous without doubt, but it's a long-running game and a multiple player game might need 2-4 hours to finish, which makes me feel exhausted after that. However, this game is much faster and it's very competitive for 2 players, meaning usually no one would win at an absolute advantage. Anyway, FFG's card games are great, lol.

Actually, I think there will be more and more updates simply because this game is really fun and strategic.
  15. Yeah... sorry, I was just too excited
