For what it's worth, I think you're probably correct. But for the sake of argument, if it were intended to work that way it would be better phrased "If this attack hits the target, immediately cancel all die results. Then the ship is give an ion token and receives one damage." As it is currently ("If this attack hits the target ship, the ship suffers 1 damage and receives one ion token. Then cancel all dice results." it could be taken to mean simply that in place of any further damage beyond the first that may occur, it gets an ion token. The fact is that at the point the damage is dealt, the results of the roll are still relevant. Again, I tend to agree with you. But I think there is room enough for discussion here to be worth hashing it out, and it's the only thing as of yet I've been compelled to email them about.

But 1 damage is not 1 critical damage.

You cannot assign R2-D2 to Biggs Darklighter's X-Wing Fighter, he was with Luke Skywalker for the entire battle of Yavin Four survival. R2-D2 wasn't the only Astromech Droid in Red Group when they attacked the Death Star in Episode Four A New Hope. There were a multitude of Astromech droids for each and every fighter that was attacking the First Death Star. There was no way he could be in two places (X-Wing Fighters) at once. You guys really need to fix this canonical error in your final tutorial for the miniatures game.

    An Irritated Fan

    HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

    oh… you're serious ?

Furthermore, the 'masters' in that photo are visual models made for the camera. THEY WERE NOT SUPPOSED TO BE IN SCALE TO EACH OTHER. In order to get enough detail to equal the more visually interesting Rebel fighters, the much darker (and therefore detail-hiding) TiE fighter had to be made larger, so that the detail could be exaggerated.

And you know this… how ?

Everyone here seems to be fixated on the "action" itself -- on TIE Fighters and TIE Advanced Fighters (which may do a barrel roll without penalty, and neglected to take into account the "effect" of a "barrel roll" -- "You may then remove 1 enemy target lock from your ship," and the pilot receives a "stress token".  The "carded action", Barrel Roll, to me, is to balance the X-Wings and TIE Advanced; which also have the ability to "target lock" enemy fighters.

That said, the developers should make an addendum to the Barrel Roll action in regards to the TIE Fighters: "When being target locked, you may perform a barrel roll; you may remove 1 enemy target lock, and receive a stress token."

Huh ? That doesn't make sense.

In an email with Steve Kimball, who to my understanding designed the rules, I commented on double barrel rolls from Vader drawing a number of my games with friends.  At that point he assured me that it was not possible for a ship to preform two barrel rolls regardless of special abilities.

Now I was not asking a specific question regarding Expert Handling, but his response made it pretty clear that you can not double barrel roll.

It's nice to get an official response.  Would have been nicer if we had gotten it here on the official forums rather than via email.

    Thanks for posting this.

This doesn't clear anything up. We already know you can't perform the same action twice. The question is, is an Expert Handling action the same as a Barrel Roll action.

The book clearly states, you can never do the same action twice, even if one of them is a free action.

Right, the argument is that "Expert Handling" is an action and "Barrel Roll" is a separate action, not the same action twice.

Which makes sense, because one is called "Expert Handling" , the other is called  "Barrel Roll".

    2 x base game
    2 x X-Wing expansion
    4 x TIE-Fighter expansion
    4 x Y-Wing expansion
    4 x TIE-Advanced x1 expansion

    Gives me a total of:

    --------Rebels---------------
    4 x X-Wing
    4 x Y-Wing
    --------Empire---------------
    8 x TIE-Fighter
    4 x TIE-Advanced x1

    I changed my order:

    4 x base game
    2 x X-Wing expansion
    4 x TIE-Fighter expansion
    4 x Y-Wing expansion
    4 x TIE-Advanced x1 expansion

    Gives me a total of:

    --------Rebels---------------
    6 x X-Wing
    4 x Y-Wing
    --------Empire---------------
    12 x TIE-Fighter
    4 x TIE-Advanced x1

At least Focus, can be used for attack and defense.

Remember that you can only spend a focus token on attack or defense, not both.

But you can choose which! say you roll no focuses on your attack, you can use it for defense! sounds like an advantage to me!

Yes, I know. But you can't use it for both, so Focus can't be used for attack AND defense.

And if your pilot skill is low you could be attacked first. So then you have to choose if you spend the focus token to negate some damage or save it for the attack. All nice strategic choices, can't wait to play this game!!

Save yourself some money and get 2 more core packs instead of getting 2 x-wing and 4 tie expansions, it will cost you less and you'll have spare dice, movement markers etc etc…

I allready got 2 cores. How many markers and dice do you need ? It also costs slightly less to get 2 x-wing and 4 tie expansions.

No please, no sh*tty prequel ships, it will be the end of the game. Lets hope they make greater ships, like the Executor,

and imperial starships, etc., adapted to the rules of the game.

    Greater ships ? The Executor ? Length 20 km ? I think I need a bigger table.
