It is worth mentioning that at Gen Con I did beat this deck with a Chaos end times deck.  I was able to use summons of Chaos to bring in a Chaos Dragon.  This meant before End Times went off, I had already hurt one of his zones. The first game he triggered End Times, but I got the much better draw of units.  He burned one of my zones, I burnt one of his.  However, I had better defenders available in my other zones and held off the attack.  Because he already had a zone hurt he was not able to do that.

In the second game I did something similar only this time I brought out End Times, burned a zone and then at the beginning of my next turn used Canacophnic scream to finish off the injured zone.

The advantage to a deck that has a bit more theme/structure than just playing End times is that it is more consistent.  It does trade a little bit of speed for that consistency though.

Loops aren't fun to play against and are typically viewed as design errors.

While I don't fault people who play them I wish the game didn't have so many.

I'm only à casual player how havnt played for a very long time but love the game.
When I looked at the video of the ifinitive loop I get à little sad because it looks like à boring way to play.
Is it only me how doesnt enjoy that way of playing?
Rather play and enjoy myself and lose than have à boring time and win.

    Hello everyone !

I present my new project on deck. Namely, very funny control Lizardman-Empire. For a long time I wanted to do something Lizardman. I think quite clearly fell into the empire.

The combination of Lizards - The Empire gives a lot of interesting opportunities in and out of different situations. In my opinion this is very funny !

    Total = 50 cards, 19 distinct

you're welcome. This combo will be popular in the next spanish championship :D :D . A friend of mine plays it a lot, and i will try to stop it with my dark elf deck.

Disciple of Khaine is not very good either; the action is too expensive for what it does.

My tournament record will show that I'm a mediocre deckbuilder and probably an even worse player, but out of my meagre arsenal, this deck would probably work okay: http://deckbox.org/sets/338198

If you push the Quest until you have the Mage of Loec, and then build up Kingdom a bit before dropping the big stuff into the Battlefield, you should have a good chance in this match-up, I feel.

For other and probably more successful High Elf counterdecks, search deckbox for all decks that include Sally Forth and the Mage of Loec to gather some ideas.

Hmm, I'm not that sure about my cunning plan, now that I think about it. Targets are checked when an action is announced and resolved, but you're right that costs are paid immediately. So no, I'm not saying that, actually . Still, both are useful as a preventive measure.

So I did not miss the mighty Rip after all, it just wasn't there initially. That's reassuring, I thought that old age was beginning to catch up with me . Anyway, try to enrich your experience by going against a typical High Elven deck that uses Mage of Loec for action denial. Which reminds me of another very useful End Times counter: the Moon Dragon.

Here is my favorite dwarf deck. The list looks weird, but it is all about getting things into play for free. It is very reactive and best against super aggro decks.

    http://deckbox.org/sets/447216

    Units:
    3 Hammersmith
    2 Doom-Seeker
    3 Nimble Spearman
    3 Grombrindal's Elite
    2 Vengeful Slayer
    3 Son of Grungi
    3 Tunnel Fighter
    2 Bladesinger
    2 King Kazador

    Tactics
    2 Iron Discipline
    3 Long Winter
    3 Stand Your Ground
    2 Demolition!
    3 Master Rune of Valaya
    3 Pilgrimage

    Quest
    3 New Trade Route

    Supports
    3 Ancestral Tomb
    3 Mining Tunnels
    2 Blood Vengeance

    Here is how it plays:

Opening had you want to see Nimble Spearman and New Trade Route or Ancestral Tomb for first turn (Hammersmith only makes those draws better)

When it comes to economy the build favors the quest greatly. Only 4 resources are need per turn, but it really needs to to draw around 4 cards per turn.

The goal is to get 4+ developments in the quest as quickly as possible. Ideally you want to see King Kazador or Son of Grungi as one of those developments. Having 4 developments makes Pilgrimage (a highly underrated card in my opinion) free.

Early game revolves around getting free Blood Vengeances and Vengeful Slayers into play for free. The whole time you are waiting to draw the combo:

Tunnel Fighter + Stand Your Ground = 1 cost King Kazador (or Son of Grungi)

This is an old trick, but a good one. You bring Tunnel Fighter into play for free by blowing up 3 developments making sure one of them is King Kazador. Then Stand Your Ground him back into play. This nets 2 big butt units for 1 resource. In a pinch the combo can be pulled off with Demolition! (it blows up developments too) to get a Kazador for 3 resources.

It may seem like a 1 trick pony from this description, but it can control the board with scalpel precision with unit bouncing and support destruction. All the free developments are toolbox options with Long Winter so you rarely feel like you are out of options.

I played this deck at North American Nationals and I really think it could have done well, but I got paired against a straight End Times deck first round (I've since made a similar build and will post it soon). I went 1:2 against it, but the 2 rounds it won it was by a landslide. It is nasty, it won on turn 2 the 3rd game.

This is my favorite deck to play and probably my best. Slayers are fun, but there is nothing better than seeing an opponent scared to attack you because of the repercussions!

The 2 best players both had work commitments, hence they were absent
Not saying Ben wouldn't have won anyway (he probably would have), it would have been nice to have 2 more players who love the game line up

Unfortunately we got into the game in early July, and apparently the deadline was in May sometime. As such there will be no league kits for us.  At this point it isn't a huge issue though since our group is still so new.  I would like to give my group a chance to get everything sorted out before we try to bolster too much.  I am concerned if people come to an event that looks too disorganized it will put them off from future involvement.

There is an LCG group in Marrieta (about 35 minutes away)  I was thinking of reaching out to.  They seem to mostly play Netrunner and GoT, but they used to have the ocassional event that featured some WHI so it is possible there are players there that may be interested in finding some new opponents.

I'm really excited about Hidden Kingdoms and think Wood Elves are the way to go. The WE capital ability of starting the game with a development in each zone paired with Empire's super-fast, low loyalty economy (Derricksburg Forge, Peasant Militia, Huntsmen, and Shrine to Taal) will allow you to get Verena off really quickly!

Are you guys getting league kits now? I really like the art on the new Verena's.

We play a lot, but I wouldn't call us super competitive. We strive to build big tournaments because they are fun and give a reason to hone our decks. Overall our group is a bunch of dads that use Warhammer Invasion as our wild and crazy fun night.

I really hope you guys can come up!

I guess that would work.  I am already putting the bug in my playgroup's ear about making the drive to Louisville from Atlanta next season, so that would just serve to sweeten the deal.  I am not an incredibly competitive player, but I do enjoy tournaments.  They give you an incentive to playtest and tweak your deck down to the most pure form you can manage, and I have always enjoyed working to make my decks tournament ready.  Plus they allow you to meet people from all over and really connect with the community.

That said, if we can make it, I am prepared to receive a beatdown against all the far more experienced WHI players.  My friends and I also play L5R and experienced the same thing at Kotei this year, but it served to really focus the group and brough our deck building to a whole new level.  Totally worth the experience.

I really would love to see Wood Elves get a couple of win conditions other than having to default to Verena.  That deck is extremely good, and Wood Elves seem to  compliment it very well, but I would love to see them get a few more of the Ambush and development flip cards like Border Patrol to give them their own flare.  Verena is an awesome deck, and I would like to see it remain in play, but my concern right now is it will be the default deck when someone goes to pick up Wood Elves once Hidden Kingdoms comes out, even with the new cards they add.

I guess only time will tell.  I am really looking forward to the new deluxe expansion.
    Congrats to all the winners!

Yeah, every gaming store I go into says pretty much the same thing.  They love the game, but for some reason it never seemed to take off.  They all give their seperate reasons for why the game isn't more popular, but they all almost always say they love the game and wish more people played it.

It is nice to have a podcast to listen to for fans of the game.  It makes the community seem more like a community.
