    It's still pretty ugly.

Looking at it, it should move like crap. Engines have a strange layout. Yeah but it's nice for them to get a C&C ship. Is this in any other source? Is that even a cannon?

Rebels don't have a shuttle so I don't see a problem with it specifically. I can see this with a dial that's a hybrid of the lambda and b-wing. It's a command & control ship, being rebels it could be another chance to make a proper buffing ship.

If the Scyk cost like the TIE naked, it would be around right gamewise (fluff wise its supposed to be tougher - it has the hull strength of the TIE but with basic shelds).

Back to game-wise, it would then have an inferior dial to the TIE but has the TL action. It's also a lot different from the Z-95 (which it shares a faction with and not the TIE Fighter); the Z-95 is faster, but the Scyk would be nimbler at low speed. To give it a refit that prevents taking the Heavy Scyk is simple - make the fix a title as well.

The Z-95 doesn't need a fix so much as it needs an injection of freshness. The Z-95 was the Honda Civic of Star Wars. It has so many mods in the back story (Custom 2 man cockpits, Z95t (adds advanced sensors and hyperdrive, etc), Unlike the Scyk or other ships that needed fixes, these should cost points. More pilots help as well. There have been Z-95 aces before but those are pre rebellion era (not like FFG hasn't used Clone Wars era characters before for Scum in particular).

I started when wave 8 was announced. Although I was mildly interested around mid wave 6. Bought out the collection of a player leaving after not having time to play since wave 4 and the rest is history .

imp aces aren't actually that good and is an easy skip for imperial players not wanting to bother with the green dice deathrtrap that is the interceptor (and having to buy the Viper for thrusters just to make the interceptor viable)

it's a great ship, but very specific in its utility and in which pilots are viable (basically no one apart from royal guards, thurr, jax, and soontir)

purchasing along the lines of what looks cool will be more effective, ultimately. Remember to proxy cards (Try before you buy!) so you don't end up with an overwhelming amount of models

Hantheman got a reaction from costi in Interview about new FFG policy. Yes, they're jacking up online prices.
Short mode: Does not work this way.

    Long mode:

    1) FFG makes 10,000 units per batch for sale. It sells sets its MSRP at $20 and it price to distributor at $10.

    2) Distributors A, B, C, D, E each receive 2,000 units. Distributor A, B, C sells their 2,000 units to various B&M retailers at $13 - 16 depending on volume. Distributor D sells on-line for $20. Distributor E decides to sell on-line for $18.

    3) After a while distributor D decides to undercut distributor E, after a few months of on-line price war, they stabilize their prices at $16

    4) B&M retailers complain to Distributor A, B, C that they cannot compete with Distributor D & E  and decide to stop carrying the product. Distributor B & C decide to stop carrying the product and sell their remaining stocks to Distributor D & E.

    5) FFG now has 4,000 excess units it needs to get rid of, Distributor D & E offer to take 2,000 each.

    6) FFG's product becomes super popular due to a Tie in release. B&M mega chain X, Y, Z want to carry the product, which FFG says will cost them $10 and the MSRP is $20. B&M mega chain X, Y, Z checks online and sees Distributor D & E selling at $16. They do not agree to selling the product at $20 when it can be bought easily at $16 and demand a revised MSRP of $16 and to be sold the product at $8.

This is the type of situation FFG is finding themselves in. Of course product numbers are higher and distribution channels are greater. My numbers for distribution are somewhat accurate for the industry - a distributor tends to get product at around 50% MSRP. This is why on-line stores can sell at 40% and still make a profit.

Hoping FFG runs out of TIEs and makes the gunboat seems so much more possible. It's possibly one of the most scorned popular ships by creators ever.

Hantheman got a reaction from n815e in Interview about new FFG policy. Yes, they're jacking up online prices.
Actually this doesn't make FFG more or less per sale - the discount you get online comes from the distribution mark up, not the manufactuer's mark up. The on-line retailers are giving larger discounts and earning by volume. If the online retailers agree to FFG's MSRP, its not FFG that gets the difference - but its the online retailer.

Why FFG doesn't want the online retailers flooding the market with cheap goods is the same as why every business controls pricings. It devalues the value of the product.

Ok thought it tru and here is what I'd get, if I just started and only had the TFA core set especially in your cas (d20 radio assumes you are only buying for 1 faction):

    1. This step is the largest step as you have nothing at all at this point. Start with building Imperial and Rebels concurrently:   Get a X-Wing Core Set (Original)   For Imperial, I'd go:  1) 1x Imperial Aces, 1x TIE Interceptor  2) 1x TIE Phantom   3) 1x Firespray  4) 1x TIE Fighter, 1x TIE/fo Fighter  [stop get some scum first]    For Rebels, I'd go: 1) 1x Rebel Aces, 1x A-wing, 1x B-wing  2) 1x T-70 X-Wing 3) 1x Millenium Falcon 4) 1x YT-2400 [stop get some scum first]   At the end of this step, you will have: Rebels: 2 A-Wing, 2 B-Wing, 2 T-70 X-Wing, 1 X-Wing, 1 YT-1300, 1 YT-2400 Imperial: 3 TIE Fighters, 3 TIE/fo Fighters, 3 TIE Interceptors, 1 TIE Phantom, 1 Firespray-31 Great upgrade cards that can be used with either faction: 3x Push the Limit, 1x Stay on Target, 2x Veteran Instincts, 1x Lone Wolf, 2x Fire Control System, 2x Stealth Device, 1x Cluster Missiles, 2x Heavy Laser Cannon, 1 Recon Specialist, 1 Tactician, 1x Experimental Interface, 2x Engine Upgrade Optional swap - If you area fan of Rebels TV series, swap the YT-2400 and TIE Fighter for Ghost and Inquisitor's TIE (cost will be higher for Ghost and upgrades will be slightly diff - your fleet will weighted more heavily to Rebels also). Proxies - Maneuver Dial Upgrade Kit (Imperial), when released, might be useful for you to use your 3 Tie Fighters and 3 TIE/fo Fighters as as up to 6 Tie Fighters or 6 TIE/fo Fighters (You may need to print the base Cards)   2. Start out with the 3rd faction (Scum). Scum shares some ships with Imperial and Rebles - You already have Firespray-31 from the last stage. This is what I would get:   1) 1x Most Wanted 2) 1x StarViper 3) 2x Kihraxz Fighter   At the end of this step, you will have: Rebels: 2 A-Wing, 2 B-Wing, 2 T-70 X-Wing, 1 X-Wing, 1 YT-1300, 1 YT-2400 Imperial: 3 Tie Fighters, 3 TIE/fo Fighters, 3 TIE Interceptors, 1 TIE Phantom, 1 Firespray-31 Scum: 2 Z-95 Headhunter, 1 Y-Wing, 1 Firespray-31, 1 StarViper, 2 Kihraxz Fighters
Great upgrade cards that can be used with either faction: 2x Predator, 2x Crack Shot, 2x Autothrusters

    3) Get ships that both rebel and scum can use, buff out Imperials and Scum more

    1) 1x Y-Wing, 1x HWK-290, 1x Z-95 Headhunter
    2) 1x VT-49 Decimator (To balance out the Imps on turrets)
    3) 1x Inquisitor's TIE
    4) 1x TIE Punisher (I recommend mainly for Twin Ion Engine Mk. II and its slightly more interesting than the TIE Bomber without Imperial Veteran)
    5) 1x Hound's Tooth

    At the end of this step, you will have: Rebels: 2 A-Wing, 2 B-Wing, 1 HWK-290, 2 T-70 X-Wing, 1 X-Wing, 2 Y-Wing, 1 YT-1300, 1 YT-2400, 3 Z-95 Headhunter Imperial: 1 TIE Adv. Prototype, 3 TIE Fighters, 3 TIE/fo Fighters, 3 TIE Interceptors, 1 TIE Phantom, 1 TIE Punisher, 1 Firespray-31, 1 VT-49 Decimator Scum: 3 Z-95 Headhunter, 2 Y-Wing, 1 Firespray-31, 1 StarViper, 2 Kihraxz Fighters, HWK-290, 1 YV-666
Great upgrade cards that can be used with either faction: +1 Crack Shot, Stay on Target, Engine Upgrade, Recon Specialist, Heavy Laser Cannon
Proxies - You can use the Rebel dials for Y-Wing and Z-95 Headhunters for scum and vice versa (even legal in tournaments). Print the bases and pilot cards to use them for casual play.

By the 3rd step you will have a large credible fleet for Imprerial, Rebels and Scum. After this most of your purchases will be single expansion purchases - although certain ships like to be bought in blocks.

Blocks are a collection of expansions that have good synergy in their contents, usually at a good price. Notable blocks are:
A-Wing + B-Wing Block: 1x Rebel Aces, 1x A-wing, 1x B-wing [2 A-Wings & 2 B-Wings with a bunch of upgrades specific for them] Rebel / Scum Block: 1x Most Wanted, 1x Y-Wing, 1x HWK-290 [2 Z-95 Headhunters, 2 Y-Wings, 1 HWK-290, with a bunch of options for Y-wings] Imperial Veterans Block: 1x Imperial Veterans, 1x TIE Bomber, 1x TIE Defender [2 TIE Bombers, 2 TIE Defenders with a bunch of upgrades specific for them] Brobots Block: 2x IG-2000 [2 Agressors which fly with extremely powerful synergy] Vader's Fist Block: 1x TIE Advance, 1x Imperial Raider [2 TIE Advanced, 1 Imperial Riader huge ship, Only way to play the TIE Advanced - alternatively you might want to try to buy the just 1x TIE Advance and the TIE/x1 & Advanced Targeting Computer upgrade cards as singles. Nonatbly this block doesn't come at a good price.]
Notable single expansions you might want are:
E-Wing [Corran Horn is a very popular pilot and comes with the popular Advanced Sensors upgrade] K-Wing [Has a fun mechanic and the popular Twin Laser Turret upgrade] Lambda-class Shuttle [Cheap, tough Imperial crew carrier and comes with the popular Advanced Sensors, Darth Vader, Rebel Captive, Sensor Jammer upgrades]  TIE Phantom [if you liked playing one you might want more, comes with the popular Fire Control System, Recon Specialist , Tactician upgrades] TIE/fo Fighter  [if you liked playing three you might want more, comes with the popular Juke, Comm Relay upgrades] Kihraxz Fighter [if you liked playing two you might want more, comes with the popular Crackshot, Predator upgrades]

Because I found it interesting I compiled a list of expansions that came with more than 1 stress token per ship:

X-Wing Expansion Pack [3 - Expert Handling can cause stress] Millennium Falcon Expansion Pack [2 - Elusiveness can cause stress] Slave 1 Expansion Pack [2 - Kath Scarlet can cause stress] A-Wing Expansion Pack [2 - Push the Limit can cause stress] HWK-290 Expansion Pack [2 - Jan Ors can cause stress] Lambda-class Shuttle Expansion Pack [3 - Captain Yor, Rebel Captive can cause stress] TIE Bomber Expansion Pack [2] Rebel Transport Expansion Pack [3 - R3-A2, R4-D6, Flechette Torpedoes can cause stress] E-Wing Expansion Pack [2 - Flechette Torpedoes can cause stress] Most Wanted Expansion Pack [4 - Drea Renthal, Dace Bonearm can cause stress] StarViper Expansion Pack 2 [4 - Inertial Dampeners can cause stress] M3-A Scyk Interceptor Expansion Pack [2 - Flechette Cannon  can cause stress] TIE/fo Fighter Expansion Pack [2 - "Zeta Leader"  can cause stress] Imperial Assault Carrier Expansion Pack [4 - Expert Handling can cause stress]] Mist Hunter Expansion Pack 3 Punishing One Expansion Pack 5   Interestingly, Mist Hunter also comes with a fairly large number of stress tokens. Most other ships with multiple stress tokens in the package either 1) can cause stress somehow on an opponent's ship or 2) can receive a stress token for a beneficial effect. Maybe scum gets a way to apply stress on other ships?   Nothing seems shared between the 2 ships tho - have to wait for previews to be more sure...
