The Scum Gozanti cruiser is the first introduced version of the class which first appears in TPM movies - It looks different from the Imperial version (which is a conversion to make it a transport/escort carrier), and also fights differently. The Kryat's Honor is the ship seen in TPM and is armed with cannons - it was a Q-ship.

The C-ROC Gozanti from rebels also looks different from the Imperial version. It's also supposedly armed with cannons and is an armed freighter.

Maybe there were 3 prototypes before full production. Unless the tender failed I can't see the Empire only having 3 (granted smallish ships with hyperdrive were not popular with imperial doctrine). Then again I believe there were imperial freight gozantis in rebels that they hit.

point fixes aren't the way, they need some weird furball-oriented mods, that allow them to make pre-move barrelrolls, or barrelrolls via bank template.

Rogue one is a groundpounders show tho - not a starfighter show despite its name. Its going to have more ground combat than space combat scenes. There's at least rebel 1 starfighter in it (an X-Wing or Z-95) and TIEs of some sort. Maybe they'll make a HWK - the groundpounders do need to get around and the Zs Rebel commandos used under Madine might not work well for the film.

I'm expecting the Rogue one stuff to be a totally seperate and unannounced release however - like the TFA core set (Maybe Force Friday becomes an Annual event now that the movies are more or less always going to be in December), with another release coinciding with the launch date of the movie. Rebel Vets I'm expecting to be spoilt months ahead like the Imp Vets, with a second announcement close to street release date. I'm just guessing however. I have no inside info on any of this.

As long as scum is a faction, there's no way they won't delve into EU. While there may be a strong preference to use canon where ever possible, the EU isn't going away. There could be limits to what Disney allows ffg to take from EU however, especially if they have immediate plans for a particular EU ship. Eg booster terricks custom z-95 is basically a t70 x-wing. The source of inspiration was the same quarrie concept art.

Ptl, tlt, autothrusters, eu. 4 super common upgrades. Their removal rewrites meta effectively.

My own opinion is that balance is needed.  Namely:

    (1) Generics should be balanced and costed for their stat-lines.

    (2) Non-generics should pay for their pilot abilities ...

    ... and, most importantly:

    (3) The most powerful pilot abilities should go on non-unique ships between PS 3 and 7 (with even more emphasis on PS 3 to 5.

High PS is its own huge reward, and IMO it's been a mistake since the beginning of the game to give those ships the best pilot abilities.  If you look at the (few) mid-PS ships that are actually played, they have really good pilot abilities.  Take a lesson from that: tone down the abilities of PS 8 and PS 9 ships, bump the abilities of the lower-PS ships, and you get a balance.

Seriously if you all for one instant believe they are waiting to release it because of store championships, you are deluding yourself. It hasn't stopped them before, and it won't now. There is a more likely answer based on the merger then anything else. It's barely late as is if you go based off the other waves release dates compared to their announcements.

Every faction has at least 1 powerful upgrade and a few more decent upgrades that can only be found with their ships. Likewise, every faction will lack at least a few powerful upgrades that are availble to one or both of the other factions.

Well most of the ships in Rebels and Imps are canon - for Rebels the E-Wing and K-Wing aren't, for Imps the Phantom and Punisher aren't (the Raider is in a strange spot - considering when it was developed it could be canon.) Scum have the most non-canon ships with only the Firespray and YV-666 being the 2 exceptions.

For new movie ships, I expect between 2 to 4 new ships per year introduced in movie canon per year from each movie. The following is my list of small and large ships (but not huge) from each movie (Special Editions have 1 entry)

    ANH - [5] X-wing, Y-Wing, TIE Fighter, TIE Advanced, YT-1300
    TESB - [2] TIE Bomber, Firespray-31
    ROTJ - [4] A-Wing, B-Wing, TIE Interceptor, Lambda T-4a
    SE Trilogy - [2] Sentinel, YT-2400
    TPM - [3+2] N-1, Star Courier, Vulture [unarmed/Civilian]: J-type 327, Sheathipede
AOTC - [2+4] Delta-7 Aethersprite, Nantex [unarmed/Civilian]: Taylander shuttle, H-type yacht, J-type diplomatic barge, Punworcca 116 ROTS - [9] J-type star skiff, Theta T-2c, ARC-170, Alpha-3 Nimbus V-wing, Belbullab-22, Eta-2 Actis, Mankvim-814, Porax-38, Tri-fighter TFA - [6+1] Upsilon, TIE/fo, TIE/sf, T-70 X-wing, Atmospheric Assault Lander, Resistance transport [unarmed/Civilian]: Quadrijet   I expect other sources (Rebels, games, novels, short stories, comics etc)  to contribute more to the canon pool than movies however.

I disagree.   The Main Story of Star Wars is the Skywalker Family.   Only 1/3rd of the timeline is rebels vs imperials.   The prequels are separatists vs Republic, and the Disney Trilogy is Resistance vs First Order.

Quick question: Do you have any scum ships so far? Maybe Slave 1?

Wave 6 Scum expansions seem to come in buy-together-blocks, each individual purchase is tied with other purchases. These are the blocks and expansions I recommend (No particular order).

    1) 2x IG-2000 Expansions - Pair of good high mobility large ships. Good synergy with themselves. If you play Imp arc dodgers, its just a matter of getting used to the base and dial. 2 max (unless you play Epic)

    2) 1x Most Wanted, 1x HWK-290, 1x Slave 1 Expansions - Z-95s, Y-Wings and Firespray-31s are great sluggers with good unique pilots; the HWK is a great support/debuff ship. Max 4 Most Wanted, 3 HWK-290, 2 Slave 1 - Z-95 & Y-Wing Expansions instead of more Most Wanteds  (unless you play Epic)

    3) 1x StarViper Expansion - Xizor and Guri are both great pilots on this ship. Autothrusters benefit both your factions - however you do not need more than 2 at current point.

    4) 1x Kihraxz Expansion - Cheap (points and retail price), effective starfighter. Talonbane and Cracked shots are great additions to a S&V squadron. Max 5  (unless you play Epic)

    5) 1x YV-666 Expansion - 180 degree fire arc crew carrier - not the greatest now but has potential to become better as more scum crew appear in later waves. Recommended 1 for now; Max 3.

    6) 1x M-3A Scyk Interceptor - Decent flanker, poor in pretty much all other roles. No vital upgrade cards. Don't recommend more than 1 for now

Hantheman got a reaction from Jiron in Would you buy a Repaint wave?
As a fairly new player who has difficulty obtaining necessary upgrades that work best with particular ships, I think there is a market for repaint expansions which have no actual content update.

For example, a Top of Worlds expansion for each faction each year. Each pack contains:
2 small ships or 1 large ship in a repainted paint scheme (possibly of the winner's choice of paint scheme, with FFG being allowed to veto certain choices (stuff they were planning to release already, graphic obsenity, etc), does not need to be a ship in the winner's list if the winner choses) and plastic stands and bases.  15 to 20 of the most represented upgrade cards used by the faction at Worlds focusing first on upgrades that have not been included with ships from that faction.  Write ups on the top X (4? 8?) squadrons along with tips and strategies on how to play them. Some necessary tokens used by the upgrade cards (Ion, Stress, Bomb templates, etc). Released a few months to half a year after worlds (after the 1st quarter wave). This Top of Worlds can be updated each year.

    An expansion like this allows:

newbies to get necessary upgrades to take part in competitive tournaments more easily, and more confidently.  more bragging rights for winners of the top event of the game. appeals to collectors due to it's limited nature, doesn't force players who don't want to buy more this particular ship to buy it as nothing is actually new other than the ship's paint job. low strain on FFG's current release cycle (no R&D cost, only marketing, production and logistics; no change in FFG's business model as the product is not a complete playable product (no ship cards or ship bases - maybe it includes a dial however), lower parts count allows the product to be available at a resonable price despite the limited run status)  What do you guys think?

What you describe is something that cannot stay static - if the game is static then it is no longer living and complete (ie no more updates and patches). Perhaps you would be more happy with such games rather than this one.

The "complete" package game includes most classic games - Chess, Go, Monopoly, Risk, etc and many new games, including offline PC & video games GTA, Fallout, etc. Any former expndable game that is no longer officially supported with expansions can also be be considered "complete" eg Decipher's SW:TCG, ST:TCG, most of GW's specialty games, etc.

The expanding or living game (the type of game that X-Wing is) is a newer format sells itself on the exact same points you mention as being problematic. All CCGs, TCGs, living card games and expandable miniature games such as Magic:The Gathering, Heroclix, Mage Knight (when they are being supported by new expansions), as do most MMOs such as World of Warcraft, SW: The Old Republic, and many more.

In between the 2 is the continually revised edition games, where a game runs with occasional expansions (similar to an expanding or living game) but gets revised to a new edition every few years (at which point the old edition becomes a "complete" game) - many old wargames and RPGs belong to this group - eg Warhammer, Dungeons and Dragons, Squad Leader as do some MMOs eg Guild Wars, EverQuest.

For true non combat ships that is correct (eg Han's ship in TFA), but for anything that expects to get into battle, shape becomes more important - the shape determines the profile you present to the enemy, where your weapons can be mounted and which arcs they fire in, how deflected fire affects your armor - etc.

Well, I was never a huge fan of X-Wings or TIE Fighters, so when I saw the game a while back I was thinking "Meh... another Star Wars franchised game. Minis look cute tho..."

Last year, one of my friends tired to get  me into the game. I went to the store again and saw IG-2000 and I was thinking "Cool - they are bringing back some old stuff!"

What sealed the deal for me was when the announced Mist Hunter and Punishing One. Had they not announced the big five bounty hunter ship, I WOULD NOT be playing X-Wing today. I had first seen them in the old Decipher CCG and still had a fondness for them.

The same apply to a SW EU reader (E-Wing, K-Wing) SW Galaxies player (Kihraxz, Decimator, Scyk), a SW Galactic Battlegrounds player (TIE Punisher), SW X-Wing player (TIE Defender). What is attractive to you may not be so much to others, what attracts them may be unattractive to you.

Every SW souce, no matter how weak the highly vocal portion of fans decry it, has their own fans. In fact, in most industries and hobbies, the most loudly vocal fans usually contribute to an extremely small portion of revenue (making business decisions based on what fans SAY is a sure way to break your bank). This is mainly due to the fact that most consumers are not that vocal - and when the product becomes shaped by the vocal minority, the silent majority if they don't like it, simply stop buying - effectively killing the product.

In aviation, an Interceptor is any aircraft that is used to prevent the successful mission of another aircraft - so that designation is not incorrect. But yeah - the Scyk and the Kihraxz are both scum light fighters with rather sub-par dials - however the Kihraxz has the Firepower, Hull & Shields to be effective naked while the Scyk is kinda overpriced naked. [suggestion: Title to improve that dial or gives Action economy; reduce cost by preventing the use of primary weapon]

The StarViper is boring outside the named pilots and is poorly customizable without the title. It's isn't that badly off however. [suggestion: Title that non-named pilots can take to improve upgradability]

The HWK has a terrible dial, which is completely opposite of the fluff (including from other FFG content). Again this isn't that bad a ship if you play it with combos with other ships. [suggestion: A turret slot upgrade that improves the dial - making it a hard to catch buffer/debuffer; cannot be used with Moldy Crow title.]
