Name swap: Roak Garnet (apolitical smuggler) should swap names with Palob Godalhi (rebel supporter) - their actual ability is appropriate for their respective faction however.

Currently PS is best at the extreme ends - either as high as possible to move last/shoot first or as low as possible to save on points. Unless you need a specific ability, or EPT slot, this is more or less the golden rule.

All versus all. It´s funny. There is a mission in the IG-2000 expansión, you can take it as an example .

Rent a high-school gymnasium in the summer. Run the whole game to scale, with the two player's dials being projected into the center of the field.

Buy the Raider, sell off TIE/x1/ATC combos on eBay that you don't need since it comes with 4 of each. Use that money to buy Gozanti.

Just get your own thing up and enjoy the stuff you bought - I've had similar ideas in the past but they've never gotten past the idea stage.

Don't let ppl pressure you into making things you are comfortable with modifying. What you are doing is similar to modding/hacking a pc game. You can choose to do anything from simple skinning to full blown code fixes. You aren't being paid to do this - so do what's fun for u

Writing a game system however can be really tedious - and this isn't a commercial project for us - its basically "for fun" - for our own homebrews. Start small - if just modifying cards then playtesting is what you are comfortable with - do that. When ppl throw out big ideas, just use what you think you can use in your homebrew and try not to be intimidated by the immesity of the whole game system at once.

@MajorJuggler the idea of different dice has come to me, especially for different weapon types (energy, ion?, explosive, ballistic), so have the actions introduced with huge ships - the main impetus was not really to replace X-Wing (which has its own charm in abstract simplicity) but to a system that bridges closer to the SW lore. Haven't had the time to think too deeply into it yet let alone play with the math.

And yes as I currently do game testing, consumers and non-technical testers are generally the worst accept game design ideas from, but the best people to actually find problems.

Its adding more detail at the expense of simplicity - its not so much as replacing the current game, it's making a different sort of game. Some one said it adds to fluff - that is 100% correct.

I can't speak for your tournament scene but tournaments can be a good place to learn. My local tournament scene is friendly but competitive, if you make mistakes, you will pay for it and nothing teaches you faster than learning from mistakes which you pay for.
You get to play with other players as well and play against ships you don't have.
Imperial has the most manoeuvrable ships, and a large number of pilots to choose from on their staple ships. Imperials have deadly aces, and their ships can function well as a formation.
Rebels are the most versatile fleet, and they have the most unique characters acting as crew or astromechs. Rebels have a ship or upgrade for every situation and different ships can have good synergy with each other.
Scum are currently the smallest fleet. And are somewhere in between the other 2 fleets. Their fleet is ragtag and they have risky flying style where they are willing to take damage or penalties to inflict damage.

    CANNONS
Flechette Cannon 2 (not working well - price need to be completely re-worked)
Poor expenditure of 2 points on cannon slot. Either needs to be able to deal stress beyond the first, or increase price and attack by 1 and no longer cancel all damage after a hit. Only way for this to be actually useful in it's current incarnation is to make a title or mod to allow the ship carrying this weapon to fire this weapon in addition to it's primary weapon.
    Ion Cannon 3
Decent pricing for use against small ships. Very specialized. More combos such as the one with the TIE Defender title may see more use of this popular weapon in fluff.
    Mangler Cannon 4
    Decent pricing - good effect.
    Autoblaster 5 (3)
Poor point to effect ratio - while effect is devastating, the range and attack value make this weapon limited. A mod/title to make this more attractive on certain ships by offsetting this cannon by 2 pts (or increasing it's effect) could make this cannon work.
    Heavy Laser Cannon 7
Good price and drawback for a single attack value 4 attack.

    TURRETS
    Autoblaster Turret 2
Decently priced autoblaster - poor attack value and range is reflected in the upgrade price. Good with certian pilots.
Blaster Turret 4 (3 or remove forcus requirement)
Good range and attack value but difficult to impossible to use on anything but a few Mouldy Crow builds. Slightly over-priced. A mod/title to allow modify rolls with this weapon would make it appropriately priced.
    Ion Cannon Turret 5 (4)
Slightly over-priced for use against small ships. Very specialized. A mod/title to allow modify rolls with this weapon would make it appropriately priced.
    Twin Laser Turret 6
Very important meta leveller - high chance of hitting but low damage. Prevents games from dragging out. This should be the standard against which turrets are compared to.

Wedge has flown a yt-1300. But that's the thing about unique pilots. You can't have more than 1. Wedge doesn't fly a yt the way he would fly an x or e. You can have a squadron commander version and an undercover version of wedge.

You are absolutely right. I will remove the pilot icon from the Ship upgrade bar.

I don't know if I allow ships "without pilots" (making them PS0) or if I make obligatory the pilot upgrade card card...

About the 200 points, wow, it would require me to review the costs of every single card in the game. I'm sure it would be better for balance, but I don't know if I'm doing it. (yet)

I like pilots as an upgrade - will be interersted to see how this goes.

I've been working with a further idea where upgrades are completely different (the game was developed in stages so some poor rules just kept snowballing for sake of keeping the game simple). Simplicity is not my aim - accuracy in more important for my homebrew.

Each ship is a has it's own base stats. It has primary weapons, as well as ordnance included in the ship - so an x-wing will always have say 3 torpedoes - torpedo upgrades just changes the type of torpedo. A title is a very specific variation of the ship or a if unique a very specific individual ship. Every ship needs a pilot.

Every pilot is qualified to fly a set of ships. The pilot determines the PS, ETs of the ship, and may give additional abilities.

Being in Asia means it's unlikely that I'll see wave 8 next month. Oh well no disruptions to my buy plans. I'll probably get a k-wing, a lambda and a phantom to bulk for upgrades and to bulk up my rebel and imp fleets

I believe there will be a separate rogue one release similar to tfa. There's a new lander so far but landers aren't dogfighters. I don't really see y-wings in vets but I could be wrong
