Hantheman got a reaction from QuentinM in What I hope to see in wave 9
This is what I hope to see in Wave 9.

Wave 9 should be announced shortly after the release of wave 8 and release towards the end of summer. There may be a few other announcements between the announcement and release of wave 9, Imperial Veterans has been announced already, and a rebel and scum equivient, and the first scum ship is being speculated. The next Star Wars movie is Rogue One next Dec - so we may see a small wave coinciding with the launch of that movie (it is unlikely there will be another core set) but that will be much after wave 9.

Over the next few months we can expect to see more short stories fleshing out the various scenery characters in TFA. The New Republic Bloodlines novel will be released in Mar and is a prequel to TFA by 6 years. Marvel comics has more OT era stories finishing and coming up including features on C-3PO and Chewbacca, along with the regular titles, Star Wars and Darth Vader. OT era short stories are extremely likely as well, and it is possible that Disney allows games like Battlefront to feature more OT and between OT and TFA story content.

FFG has their own Legends (non canon) products going - and as X-Wing is also a legends game - we could see some cross overs.

I'm expecting the next wave to have 4 ships as per wave 8, with 1 rebel, 1 imperial and 2 scum. Scum is still playing catch up and has much less ship than 2 original factions.

Rebels: Expecting a small ship of some sort - the N-1 is an option with Leia and Shara Bey (as recently featured in the Leia Marvel comic); the Thallanx from FFG's AoR RPG is another - its a stealth fighter with similar cababilities to a Z-95, even a legends New Republic era X-wing such as the T-65XJ might not be out of the question.

Imperial: Expecting the Upsilon-class shuttle or TIE/sf to show up in the next 2 waves and completely release all the starfighters from TFA. Either works, but the TIE/sf would be a more significant ship as compared to the Upsilon due to it being the first imperial turret upgradable craft.

Scum: Expecting a large and small or even 2 large - large ships seem to be the theme of scum - with their limited number of ships they already have more large ships than either rebels or the empire. For small ships, the Dunelizard and Drexl are the most appealing as they both can equip astromechs - an upgrade only used by the Y-Wing and the upcoming JumpMaster 5000. For large ships, the Scurrg H-6 seems very likely, having been released in Armada (Strangely as a Rebel ship); other likely ones are the Banshee/Shadow Caster and the Gauntlet fighter. If a second large ship is released, I hope to see a large but not heavily armoured craft - something like the Preybird or the Ixiyen. Scum is already heavy on big expensive large ships and could use lighter, and less point heavy large ships.

Everyone's been taking about the Scyk and other scum ships they think need fixing... What about new stuff? Wave 8 is probably gonna be out around the end of Jan / beginning of Feb and a new wave of previes is possibly going to be out.

TFA brought us no new Scum ships (with guns anyway), so lets head back to the cartoons and legends to see what can pop up.

From The Clone Wars/Rebels cartoons we have:
Kom'rk/Gauntlet fighter: This ship spans all three current eras of Star Wars. It was first used by the Mandolorian Deathwatch Faction in the PT Era; Galus Vez raced Hera in his Gauntlet which he named the Splendor in the OT Era, and Bazine Netal claimed Delphi Kloda's Sparrowhawk after killing him in the ST Era. This ship is cumbersome due to its huge wings to make into a 1/270 model on a large base - but it could be done, I think. Banshee / Shadow Caster: Asajj Ventress's bounty hunting ship after quitting the CIS, and bounty hunter Ketsu Onyo's ship share the same yet to be named class. I'm expecting this to pop up sooner or later. Personal Luxury Yacht 3000: Used by the pirate Hondo Ohnaka, smooth operator Lando Calrissan, smuggler/jedi Mara Jade, among others, this ship has a good chance of showing up but whether it'll be a scum ship is not a certainty. SS-54 assault ship: Bounty hunter / mercenary Sugi's personal ride - only one owner is known but considering how FFG made ships like the Kihraxz and the TIE Phantom which had no known users - might be possible. Sarisa-class gunship: A gunship used primarily by the Pyke Syndicate - really little info about this. Not likely. Iconic scummy ships from Legends:
CloakShape fighter: Weak, slow but tough fighter long obsolete even during the Clone Wars. Super customizable, able to replace and incorporate entire systems to keep it up to date. Is an ideal scum ship for systems and tech upgrades. Drexl-class starfighter: little info about this craft but it can have an astromech. G1-M4-C Dunelizard fighter: A very similar ship to the M3-A Scyk - can be considered a medium fighter version. Can carry additional crew or an astromech. GAT Blastboat: Powerful turret equipped gunboat. HH-87 Starhopper: A Clone Wars era Hutt ship. Weak firepower, decent agility, tough. Still use during the OT era. Ixiyen-class fast attack craft: A ship that borders between small and large (similar size to the Aggressor). Fast and well armed for a ship it's size. M12-L "Kimogila" Multi-role Starfighter: Hutt ship that inherits a lot of design cues of the M3-A Scyk. Tons of forward firepower. M22-T "Krayt" Gunship: A M12-L "Kimogila" that swaps some forward firepower for a turret. Pinook fighter: Cheap and garbage starfighter - unlikely unless FFG decides to produce a ship that costs less than 12 pts. Preybird-class starfighter: Large intimidating heavy starfighter. Used by smugglers, pirates and mercenaries. R-41 Starchaser: Somewhat similar to a Z-95 but can carry a cannon. R60 T-wing interceptor: Cheap squishy interceptor originally designed by the Rebels who decided to sell it rather than to use it themselves. Can load torpedoes. Rihkxyrk assault fighter: Heavyly armored version of the Ixiyen. Slow and sluggish with tons of forward firepower. Scurrg H-6: Big powerful fighter-bomber. Likely to show up sometime as its already in the Armada game. Toscan 8-Q starfighter: Bare frame starfighter - very customizable. Vaksai Starfighter: Upgraded Kihraxz. Heavily customizable usually with better engines, systems and weapons. Edited to add more small and large ships:
Supa Fighter: a Large maneuverable ship with the durablility of a Y-Wing, carried laser and ion cannons and missiles. The Black Sun used this starfighter to replace the StarViper for freighter escorts. Gauntlet starfighter: Small ship with laser cannons, laser cannon turret and torpedoes. Used by Black Sun and Tenloss Syndicate. Alpha-3 Nimbus: Small clone wars era ship, scrapped or decomissioned by Galactic Empire in favor of the TIE Fighter. Armed with laser cannons and a specialized non-standard astromech (which Imperials and other users mostly didn't use due to various problems with the design). Known to be used by Hutts and Mandolorians. Aka'jor-class shuttle: Small (around HWK sized) shuttle used by Mandolorians. Sold unarmed, but easily upgradable to be an armed shuttle. Gladiator-class Assault Fighter: unknown sized Manodolorian fighter. Armed with laser and ion canons. E-wing era ship. Pursuer-class enforcement ship: Large patrol boat. Armed with blaster cannons, ion cannon turret and torpedoes.  GX-1 Short Hauler: Large transport / shuttle. Armed version had a laser cannon turret.  YT-5100 Shriek Bomber: Large bomber which looked like a YT-1300. Armed with a quad laser turret, torpedos, missiles and a bomb bay. Used by Han and Wedge in EU but were old ships by then. Z-10 Seeker Scout: Large long range scout. Armed with an autoblaster cannon. Used by mercs and othe private interests. ILH-KK Citadel: Large sturdy civilian armed transport. Armed with laser cannons, ion cannon turret, missiles and a tractor beam. YT-2000: Another large large YT-class freighter, of which the Otana, from X-Wing Alliance, was the most famous.  Various Gymsnor, HWK, TL, VCX, YT, YG, YV, YZ series freighters: Too many individual models to list. All are Large or Huge ships. Conquerer-class assault ship: Large assault ship - Guri's Stinger is the most famous - armed with laser cannon turrets and ion cannons. Baudo-class yacht: May not be a class per se but yachts built by Mendel Baudo. The Pulsar Skate is the most famous of these. Potential huge ships:
E-9 Explorer Scout: Gozanti sized scout craft. Armed with laser cannon turrets and could be armed with torpedoes. Action series bulk freighters: Civilian bulk freighters that have been known to be refitted as smuggling ships, frigates and escort carriers. AEG-77 Vigo: Freighter converted to a convoy escort.  Minstrel class yacht: A Huge yacht favored by Hutts. The Dragon Pearl and Star Jewel are most famous of these. Can act as a carrier for Z-95s and similar small ships.

I got my 14 year old daughter to try Xwing. We each got a ship and she ended up one-shotting me with a great roll versus my blanks. After it was over, she said she still doesnt want to play, but holds that one victory over my head. In fact, after I played a game and beat one of our guys that is a Regional champ and Top 16 Worlds player, she staked the claim that she must be up there with the Top 15.

The BTL S3 Courier gets rid of the turret for crew space.
The BTL-B is the fully cowled Clone Wars version.
The BTL-A4 (LP) is the single pilot scout/recon version.

I wouldn't say just - its been 18 years since they bought out TSR, and 16 years since they have been bought out by Hasbro. D&D 3E launched 15 years ago (but the work for it began much before the Hasbro buy out). D&D 4E was launched 7 years ago, D&D 5E was launched last year (2014). The 3rd edition and it's derived rule are possibly the most significant RPG rule set ever, being used to reinterprete various settings in tabletop RPGs, videogames and other electronic media.
Having played D&D recently again, I'd say 4th Ed was a bold but unwise move, while 5th is a cautious attempt to redeem itself to older players.

Other than part 1 Mad Max is never the story of mad max - he drifts into the story and becomes a whilewind, then drifts away after. Mad Max is the Deus Ex Machina in part 2, 3 and 4. I never did watch 1 but I know the plot somewhat.

Han mentioned the shields flicker - remember this is a massive shield - larger than anything ever in the movies. The Deathstar shields were miniscule next to this planetary shield. The shield possibly doesn't cover the whole planet at the same time. Rather the shields themselves move at a speed faster than what most ship travel around the planet (sort of how a monitor refreshes it's image). Han isn't going tru the shield, he's going tru a fast moving gap in the shield.

It is kind of retarded to keep Imperials from having access to a weapon upgrade slot that currently has the biggest meta impact just because of personal gameplay preference. The Imperials need a ship with a turret slot. This isn't a faction/era slot much like illicit, tech, or astromech. Turrets are a universal slot and all factions should have access to it. Sure the imperials already have a PWT and another one won't be necessary but a turret slot for the Imperials is a must.

The best film of the year is Mad Max.

You'd have to be completely disconnected from reality to think otherwise. You'd basically be a sub-human, and would do the world a favor by self immolating.
This isn't opinion, it is fact, verified by film scientists.

Star Wars was pretty good too.

Well the the TIE/sf looks wayyyyy too much like the TIE/fo especially at 1/270 scale. However I do hope they manage to mod their existing model somehow to acommadate the change. The scum ships from SW Galaxies are basically looking at the same problem - if it can be done for the TIE/sf it can be done for other ships.

    Depends.
If you want to add Scum to your collection grab a Most Wanted expansion- it'll probably give you the most bang for your buck as you already have a Y-wing, Firespray, and Hawk. After the Most Wanted I'd pick up an Aggressor, it's a good ship and even with just one you can have fun by mixing it up with the other Scum stuff.
If you want Imperial or Rebel, I'd recommend getting the new core set. Updated rules/rules reference and the new TIE/fo and T-70 are fun to play.

Hantheman got a reaction from Gersun in Integrated Astromech in Rebel Veterans
I've mentioned this in another post, right now the Y is in a good spot - it has tlt builds that work in both rebel n scum, stress hog and ion hog control builds in rebels, chaser and PMS builds in scum. Earlier this year, the BTL-A4 Y-Wing title gave Y-Wings a bunch of new build, and Bomb Loadout gave it a few build options (which are not particularly popular due to the state of bombs).

Ys mostly need new pilots (for both factions) - uniques with special abilities and/or EPTs would be great: Dex Tiree, Davish Krail, Norra Wrexley, Ekelarc Yong, Lieutenant Telsij, Grisserno, Welinarro and others. A BTL-S3 Courier turret upgrade swapping the turret for crew space would be fun - especially if with all the bomb enhancing crew available these days. However, the Y has already gotten its boost and needs to wait for it's turn again when other ships are in more dire straits or have yet to see their upgrades.

The X and E both need help (especially the X). In particular, the E, X and Y are all torpedo ships - a non-unique astromech upgrade that aid torpedos would be a great boost to all 3 ships. Xs could use a Title boost as well as more distribution for Integrated Astromech, and the E could use a Title to boost everything that isn't Coran Horn. The E like the Y could use more diversity in unique pilots, while the X doesn't - If the Vet box is the X E or X Y, its most likely to have 2 copies of a Vet non-unique X, 2 copies of a Vet non-unique other ship, and 4 unique pilots for the other ship.

So looking at the Mask of the Pirate Queen FFG RPG Adventure there's this ship: the StarViper-M2.

While the name appears for the first time in this book, the concept isn't new - After MandalMotors got back production rights for the StarViper, they made started producing a more mass manufacture friendly version of the StarViper.

    Differences:
Replaces the twin-heavy cannons on the SV for quad-light laser cannons (in RPG terms this swaps armor penetration for rate of fire & accuracy - don't see it chaning PW value)
    Increase shields
Replaces Torpedo launcher for Ion Cannon

Supposed to be popular with Zann Consortium and other pirates. Could this become a fix for the StarVipers that are not Guri and Xizor?

    I freaking LOVE the TIE/FO!
Ran a tutorial match with an X wing and 2 Tie Fighters so he could get the hang of it, then he asked if we could expand to 50 points. He ran a T70 alongside a T65. I've been playing the T70 a lot and haven't touched my FOs before today, even though I've used Juke and Comm Relay extensively already. I picked Zeta Leader and 2 Epsilons to get 50 points even, no upgrades. Haven't seen them played much in my area, other than in Crack Shot Swarms. I love most of the abilities but have been nervous that they might cost too much and just haven't gotten around to testing them. I must say, by the turn after the first engagement, I was in love. They handle like a dream. Zeta's Opportunist line ability was no issue with all of the green 2s. And those 2 speed S Loops!
I love the TIE/FO. Thought you should know. You can return to your regularly scheduled programming.
