atlantis reacted to Barry Harker in Modified YT2400 for Scum & Villainy......New Member.
Hello Macross.
You asked about the Brush's I used on the model to Drybrush the Weapons and such.
Here is a Photo of the "Chisel Brush's" that I use,
with sizes from 2 through to 8.
All the best,
Barry

I then Sprayed the model in Grey Primer to see if everything worked together, and roughed in what the Cockpit canopy windows might look like.
I drew them on with a 00.5 fine liner. as the nib is small enough to draw on the detail.

Hello Guys,
I Have been spending a long time looking over your post's and Fantastic Photos of your models.
and I have found them to be very Inspiring.......to the point I decided to join in the FUN
Only recently just got into X Wing.
And what a Fantastic game it is too !
and Being a keen Model maker in my Hobby and profession. I thought it was about time I started Modifying
some of my Models.
I have already noticed it is very easy to spend a lot of money on these models.
only been playing and collecting for 6 weeks, and already spent a small fortune buying repeat models to Modify.
And as the YT2400 is one of my all time fave star wars vehicles.
I thought I would start with that and build it in the Guise of the Scum & Villainy guise..........

atlantis reacted to Barry Harker in Modified Z95's, Winged Y Wing and Scum Tie "Fanged" Fighter.
Hey Guys,
Thanks for your comment's.
I am enjoying messing about with these Xwing models....it Helps with the fact that the Game is so good as well
NightShrike,
Your Right about the Engines slung under the wings, it would handle like a Pig !
isnigu
I dont tend to use much in the way of filler...green stuff.
I cut and measure everything very closely and then Plastic weld all the parts together and to the hulls,
the Plastic weld uses concentricity as it flows into the joints, so this makes a good seal between tight joining lines and parts.
Jedipilot
You know your right !
once I had the Winged Y Wing painted in grey Primer, I kept looking at it and thinking.... "that reminds me of something"
Space: Above and Beyond
That was a cracking show, and the Hammer Heads looked really cool
Do you Rember the Chiggy Von Richthofen episode.
The good old days of decent TV Programs......and no reality rubbish !
anyway,
I have started Painting the the Modified models, and started adding some Standard ships to the Pack.
However the Idea is to have a High percentage of them Modified.
at the moment the Models are in the simple stage of Painting, Block work in there basic colours, and simple highlight and shading.
I now need to add the dirt and grime, darken down and gloss the canopy's and shade the engines and weapons.
The Winged Y Wing is on the paint desk ready to Start tomorrow, I want to enjoy that one while finishing off these.........
The AranZ Mob
I still have a lot to do on the models to finish them off, Including the Solar collection panels on the AranZ Tie Fighter
and shade the panels on the Z'ssss.
Decided to add an Awing into the mix......although the colour is looking somewhat 70's intiror Styling.....orange and brown.
probably has beige Valour in the cockpit !
Also working on a first Rebel Re-paint of a Z95, want it to look weathered and beaten...once its finished....and not getting picked on.
I will carry on Painting and finishing tomorrow,
then post more photos.
All the best Guys,
Barry

Hello Guys,
Continuing on from my Modified YT2400 for Scum and Villainy, I need to add Fighters and Escorts to Accompany the YT.
The idea being that the Scum Clan is made up of Various alien races, and there for there choice of Craft and Modification will change from ship to ship.
From stolen Tie fighters to Acquired Rebel Craft.
Colour wise, they will all follow the same style as the YT.
Here are the first few, which at the moment are only in Grey Primer. just in need of final finishing and sanding ready for the base coat.
and final painting.......
Modified Z95's with alternate wing construction.
Still needing some final finishing work around the Engines and wings......

atlantis reacted to ouzel in Wave 3 speculation
I would like to see some non combat ships like the BFF-1 bulk freighter and the GR-75 transport for something to fight over.
or even a station along this line
-
atlantis reacted to ninclouse2000 in Wave 3 speculation
I would love to see the rebel transport and an imperial prisoner transport ship released along with new scenarios or a campaign.

Re-watching Battlestar Galactica has me applauding FFG's efforts to make this board game feel like the show.
It really does. There are always more things to do than can be handled, things go from bad to worse, and you really cannot trust anyone.

atlantis reacted to LeeCHeSSS in Model-mod to make ships rotatable
I'll see about that in the weekend!
1.
The ring magnets I used are the following: http://www.kjmagnetics.com/proddetail.asp?prod=R421
The balls are: https://www.kjmagnetics.com/proddetail.asp?prod=NSB3
I used regular superglue (even managed to almost glue my fingers together because there was glue on the little bottle ).
2.
I tried yesterday on the TIE Advanced, but its sphere is indeed not easy to get the magnet to stick to. I decided to try again this weekend with a fresh mind and some more tools I still need to borrow from my dad
I'm curious why you feel it is better, enlighten me/us with some arguments!

atlantis reacted to LeeCHeSSS in Model-mod to make ships rotatable
I am in the process of making all my models rotatable (in anticipation of receiving my B-wing order). So far I have my rebel ships done and one TIE Bomber, the other TIE's require a bit more work - glueing the magnet to the model without flattening the bottom seems to not hold...
During play the bases won't move if you accidently nudge a model (it will just rotate/tilt the model), and when (dis)assembling them before/after play I don't have to put any force on them. Also in storage they neatly stack because of the magnets

Hola!
This is my prefer!
Z-95 Headhunter "N Dru Suhlak"
painted for a customer of mine... draw the mouth, so that it maintained a perfect symmetry on the two sides of the hull, it has been a long job

atlantis reacted to nekomatafuyu in Which Universe is best suited to a re skin of the Armada rules?
With regards to B5, I believe Mongoose dropped the license due to WB demanding an increasingly unrealistic license fee despite the fact that longer and longer had passed without new material, and as such interest in the universe was waning.
That said, I believe JMS is planning a B5 reboot at some point in the future, at which point the license will be fresh again. Whilst I would certainly be happy with Mongoose picking up the license once more, I'd be equally happy to see what FFG could do with it

Can we throw in some other anime based stuff?
Space battleship Yamato. I've Always wanted to see this and Macross combine.
Wave motion gun FTW!
Oh yeah and this:
Captain Harlock.
Best. Captain. Ever.

I'm just gonna toss this one out there. Firefly/Serenity?
I know it's not exactly in keeping with the show and movie having large scale fleet battles as a norm but I would love to see some Alliance - Reaver shenanigans. Perhaps some more themed games where a certain smuggler ship perhaps, ooo.... I don't know maybe a Firefly-Class has to give the Alliance the slip or is being chased by Reavers.
Plus, there's this:
BSG - Awesome but limited in military ships from an initial perspective.
Babylon 5 - Yes
Halo - Double Yes
Ender's game might be cool but also a limited ship set on the Formic side. I'm all for everyone's love for the 40K universe but if I want to play with BFG style ships... I'm gonna just play BFG.

FWIW according to my count of purely onscreen ships I have:
4 models of Basestars (the same as the number of known Imperial capital ships in Armada), plus cargo ships, Resurrection ship and one class of known space station. If you count the SFX redesign in the middle of the series, and the damaged rebel Basestar as distinct models you get two more.
6 models of Colonial capital warships (one more than the number of known Rebel ships in Armada), plus military transports and the ships of the rag-tag fleet.
3 models of Cylon squadrons (granted 3 less than Imperials in Armada).
9 models of Colonial squadrons (3 more than Rebels in Armada), plus two classes of colonial shuttles.
Not to mention two classes of missiles (nukes and normal), which IMO should be represented as on board elements for interception.
That's before we even get to the BSG expanded universe of games and fannon.
We may not see BSG in Armada officially. It may suck if we see it. But it's silly to keep insisting that it can't happen because of a dearth of ships. It can and (in my garage at least) will!

Hello guys!
Repainted my first Armada X-Wing today, it's really fun at this scale!
You can find a small tutorial on how to replace the laser canons barrels by pins on my blog with a few more photos:

Has no one mentioned Battlestar Galactica? I am ashamed in all of you, consitering how easy an adaptation it would be!
Maybe not Stargate, and bfg is best for its own system.
I see home world was mentioned, so now I throw in Sins of a Solar Empire.
3 races, 4 different weapons per race, each with different ranges/damages, and firing arcs for ships.
All you need to do now is transfer ship abilities/antimatter to a battle card/action card format, and make it exciting/ less of a stationary slugfest.

atlantis reacted to Ghost Dancer in Which Universe is best suited to a re skin of the Armada rules?
Babylon 5, but only if they simulated the combat how it was portrayed in the show, i.e. being able to turn ships whilst they continue to move in another direction, interceptor guns, etc.
There are so many races and ships that the B5 Universe is perfect for a game setting like Armada. Plus there would be no issues with ship scale, unless you get into the realms of Planet Killers and Shadow Clouds...
