atlantis reacted to Talonbane Cobra in FFG bring Jedi Starfighter to X-Wing.
If we are requesting things from FFG then I'd like a BSG boxed game like Armada but self contained. Basestar and Galactica and Pegasus. Maybe a campaign on linked missions with varying objectives, like hold off the attack while the civilians escape, or jump in to a cylon controlled system to make a surgical strike on one of their ships.
Thanks you.

If we're going here, I want Colonial Viper Mk I, II, and IV. It's in universe:
E.T.'s race is seen in the Galactic Senate in Ep I. E.T. has been to Earth. The Battlestar Galactica is been to Earth. Therefore, the Battlestar Galactica can fly to a galaxy far, far away!

I have been doing some painting.
Here are my 2 imperial raiders. They don't have names, they die too fast. Even CR90s get names, but these? Nope.
Here is my MC30. It is a flesh torpedo frigate. This purple headed warrior has proven to be the bane of many imperial ships so far, and is one of the main reasons why imperial raiders don't seem to last very long.

My cat has been determined to re-locate X-wings from my desk to under the sofa recently, but I scrabbled around until I had the whole lot back together again to take some photos.
I have 2 squadrons of 3 X-wings - this I guess is Rouge squadron (not sure as I am not that much into EU apart from the X-wing series of games). It is led by Wedge
This is Red Squadron, led by Luke.
This is Gold Squadron - I am going to add Nym and an HWK-290 in here soon
This is Blue Squadron - I have traded for a 3rd B-wing to make Keyan, and also traded for a second HWK-290
This is Green squadron. They are alone, but I like to run them in a pair as generic problem solvers who can live outside of ship activations.
That line up with Han Solo and Dash Rendar as wildcards will be my squadron lineup for the duration of wave 2. I still have some touch-ups to do on my Imperial ships and squadrons soon, I'll use this thread as motivation to finish them before new toys arrive around Christmas time.

Hi all!
I like to cut up ships and re-paint them. Here are my rebels:
This is the current rebel flagship, 'Clear Skies'. It has some severe battle damage, as will all Rebel medium/large ships. They don't get to dock up for repairs much, as they are too fat.
Nebulon-B2 support refit 'Salvation'.
Nebulon-B medical support refit 'Redemption'.
Nebulon-B escort frigate 'Yvaris'.
CR90B 'Dodonna's pride'. It has engine techs and is the fastest ship in the fleet - effectively speed 5.
CR90A - 'Howling Griffon'
CR90A - 'Bronie'
CR90A - 'Barry McTavish's crusty turdbucket'

Sorry to keep on with the same model but I tried a little different idea with my engines this time. Walking through the craft store I saw these little guys in the bead section. I figured they look like they would make great angine flare especially since they pick up the light. So the results were really good. They pick up the light in the room and look pretty sharp.

Looks good Vykes, I like it. Try taking the picture from further away.
I managed to get some additional highlights and such done, on to engines and hangers next. Figured I would try to get some additional photo angles of the ship though.

Sure thing Daft Blazer, mate. I took a pair of pictures mostly because the first one felt 'too good' and in a lot of ways, it really was. This morning's lighting condition outside was some of the best I've ever come across. I'll just post up the 'nice' one but I can always post a 'bad' one, just to show the difference in camera light alone.
Aww, that's too bad Biggs, but I still think that it couldn't be that bad. The Mc80 really is a weird thing, full of lines and yet not at the same time, so I don't think it's likely a 'problem' at all. The ship doesn't know what it wants to do.
Bloody great work Steven, those H6's in particular are grand! But all of em are great (the blue stiped Yt2400 comes in at a close second for squadrons). Nice to see a Mk.I assault frigate too. I've seen two of Mel's Dreads in person but no Assault Frigate yet. Mind if I ask, how's the surface texture for those things? Any thoughts on colours to those other HWK's and YV-666's?
Post Scriptum: Also phenomenal work Wes, those E-wings are just glorious and the Assault Gunboats just make me envious. Fantastic work on the whole, but those just want to make my eyes pop out.

The X-Wing forum has one, so I think the Armada forum can have one.
If you want to show off your painting, get advice, ask questions or simply chat about modeling and painting post away in this thread.
This is a place for everyone to share their repaints and modelling of FFG miniatures!
To those members that already have their own threads, please do continue them, but do also post your pictures here so we can all help keep this topic alive!
Some of my work to get us started!

atlantis reacted to MPG in MPG's Armada Repaints
So I got into Armada about 2 months ago, I started out with 1 CR-90. I tried painting it, but that didn't go so well. The peg broke after dropping it and when scrubbing the paint away after the first attempt the right airlock somehow dissolved. I quickly repainted it again with better results. I hadn't attempted painting again until after painting my X-wing ships.
Starting out is the first CR-90 (left). The poor thing somehow got half dissolved and the paint from the previous attempt is still hanging around. As soon as I get the core set this one is being replaced with a better model.
Next is the one I am much more proud of (mainly because I finally did something on the first attempt). Most of you can probably identify her as The Liberator from Rebels.
Hopefully she will soon have a good looking companion to fly beside. Maybe even two or three!
My Star Destroyer Deception. She's a nice clean Imperial gray. I may have to go back in and clean up some of those panels.
And finally my MC-80 that has yet to be named.
That's probably it for a while until I can get my hands on the actual game. Hopefully I don't get sidetracked by another CR-90.

I posted in the X-wing form but figured I should post here as well: sorry for the redundant post.
One Nebulon-B Frigate and two CR-90's escort. Who's got a Victory-class Star Destroyer ready?

I've been considering a "Battlestar Galactica: Wings of Glory"
So I like what you're doing and hope FFG consider doing an official starship and starfighter game based on BSG. Perhaps even a "Cylon Assault" ground game. Perhaps when the rumoured movies start.

Thanks mates, sorry it took me a bit... I've been busy (and you'll all see why on what in a while )
That base is just from one of my Nebulon B, Atlantis. But -laughs- I do know that you can occasionally find spare bases at Big Orbit Games, it's a UK based 'card singles' spot. I found it after I shattered the Janus's base 'fin the night before the second Sullust tournament. Though just picking up a spare CR90 has been about the same price given their scary-low prices recently.
Hey LazarusTaxon, mate. Thanks for saying, I am flattered. Glad to hear you're coming out of a hiatus, feel free to join in on some of our painting threads too, we don't bite!
Because I use multiple varnish coats of protective varnish, I haven't had an issue with just laying a base coat down over the bare plastic (after it's been washed in hot soapy water) No stripping required, though I sometimes do after I'm not satisfied with my own work. These days I've been using an airbrush for that first initial basecoat. It's not for any technical reason beyond saving a lot of time. The plastic tends to hold the paint for the purposes of painting but I wouldn't recommend it for gaming without the 2-3 coats of varnish.
Now, what I would recommend is actually exactly the same thing that I use for the base: a Krylon 'With Fusion' flat primer for plastic. It's pretty cheap (about $6 at a big-box store like Walmart compared to Army Painter or Citadel which is $20 here) and you've got a decent number of colours. I've been using a 'camo brown' colour, because I find on the tabletop, the dark brown shade actually makes the base blend in to my playmat more than a stark black does (same principle as to why blue is the best shade for camo at night, it doesn't leave the stark outline).
Hope I've been some help, and feel free to ask anything you want.

atlantis reacted to Barry Harker in Modified YT2400 for Scum & Villainy......New Member.
Hi Atlantis.
I have been asked by a few guys now about building that Custom YT.
I may have to look into making a Mould and casting them In Resin.
I have made many moulds and castings with other models and scratchbuilds, just never Xwing !
Im going to look into it.
All the best,
Barry

ISD Nightmare
Painter's note: I was experimenting with different base hues and I found I really do like purple star destroyers. Maybe not as much as the blue-green tint of the other ISD (which I'll add hopefully today or tomorrow, along with a bit of a story update), but it really was fun. 'Ships of Ten thousand brush strokes', 4 layers on those plates and 5 on some others, all of them just a bunch of tiny lines. Oh, on the other hand, I adorrre its ID badge, the sword and moon is something I'll admit is my favourite thing about it, odd inspiration source but I'm fine with it.
Alternate Angle: Engines
Alternate Angle: Lights
Painter's note: I'll admit, I included this picture because of the bridge lights. I can't believe it took me this long to get a handle on doing windows, and as always, I'm sure there's more improvements I could make. Still, I really like it.

Yrellion Skye
Painter's note: The Mc80 was something really different to paint. There was a lot less brushwork involved and lot more application of washes, though I think I'll still maybe pick out a few plates here and there or nail a highlight or two if they pop out as particularly unsightly to me, but it blends nicely compared to my usual sort of painting. Anyhow, I'm already thinking of repainting one Nebulon B and looking forward to a similar Mc30. Perhaps it'll just be a mon-cal thing.
Alternate Angle: Rebel Sigil
Alternate Angle: Aft Engines
Alternate Angle: Bow
Painter's notes: That's the first iteration without some of the highlights, but it came out so well that I didn't want to waste the image. Gah, that is a weird ship to photograph.
