I might be heading over from NC (will be my first regional). I think that this is too short notice for the rest of the NC group to be able to make it.
Note: We are a fledgling meta, and we are not very good.

@Nomos You're right, just because people play doesn't mean that their victories should count.
The fact that FFG needs to drop rounds in order to "balance" the two formats is proof enough that the current system doesn't work. I'm not sure who thought it was a good idea to not count the first round(s) of top 8/16, especially since the top 8 games should be more difficult than swiss rounds.
-
You don't see an issue with not counting some rounds?
-
They should remove all points and prizes from the Melee tournament. That way no one would care who wins!
-
It depends on who the first player is. Both Deadly and the resolution of Frey Hospitality are Passive effects. The first player gets to choose the order that they resolve.
-
I don't think that is right.
In the case of an attack with 0 STR and no defenders, I believe that no one wins and no one loses.

too much incentive for people to king make eachother.
Such as? I've been trying to think of any motivation that I could have to make someone else win instead of trying for it myself, and I'm coming up empty.
It's not like there are big cash prizes to split.
Apparently you hate your friends and don't want to see them succeed.

Not really back, he was playing the same deck that was posted from the previous championship.
Someone sounds salty.
It doesn't matter if he used a deck from a previous championship. If the same deck proved its worth in multiple tournaments, then it probably has some mettle. It might not mean that it is a tier 1 deck, but it does mean that people should be coming to tournaments prepared for it.

~Let's talk about playtesting to get the trifecta!
How can we talk about something that obviously doesn't exist

If you only need 4 people for a Regional, then eastern North Carolina needs to host a regional. We have around 10 people (not always the same people) at each of our meet-ups (three times each month).
On topic. That sucks about your deck getting lost.

Winning in Joust is decided by what cards you draw. Winning in Melee is decided by how many friends you have. We saw this at last year's Gencon.
As long as king-making exists, Melee will be a NPE.
-
I was assuming that the resolution of each plot was a separate framework action. After looking at the flowchart, I see that it is not. Thanks for the help.
-
Hold on, that doesn't make sense to me. "When revealed" Plots don't resolve simultaneously. Wouldn't one plot effect have to completely resolve before the other plot starts to resolve? In which case, the card would have already made its way into your hand.

You have to anticipate and counter flip the right plot (outwit), or draw into the right cards (attachments) and play them in order to protect your main character BEFORE they decide to flip the plot.
It's not hard to anticipate a S&D that is going to mess-up your game. If you have a Blackfish with 3 Power on it, then there is a good chance that you'll see S&D that next turn, or if you have a main character (such as Cersei) and you double duplicate it, then there's a good chance that you'll see S&D. The opponent is not going to use S&D unless they have a good reason, and if they don't have a good reason…then it doesn't even matter.

I don't like it because it makes deck building around a main character too risky. Blackfish in a Tully deck, Cersei in a PBtT deck, Beric in a Brotherhood deck, or any other powerful character that gets loaded up with power. You want to run dupes to protect against directed kill, but they are still bounced back. And when they have 3 or 4 power or more..I think its chicken sh!t.
If you feel that Search and Detain is an issue, then build some anti-S&D in your deck. It isn't difficult. Simply add a couple attachments in your deck. In the case of Blackfish or Cersei, Bodyguard works triple duty: it saves, it stops S&D, and it prevents some burn. Or you could go the Plot route. Outwit works if you are using Learned crest characters. There are also 20-ish plots that have more than 5 initiative. Many decks already run Retaliation. So, play your Retaliation on the turn where you think the other player is going to use S&D.

I guess I need to have a chat with our buddy, Khal, about keeping my stuff under wraps.
To be fair, I don't see any secret tech in that deck. Really nothing in there that separates it from any other Targ Burn. Still, guy shouldn't be giving away your decklist.
-
Incinerate takes at least 5 cards to kill a decent sized unique (STR 3). Brianne of Tarth+No Quarter takes two for an effect that can kill any STR.
-
I see a ton of people freaking out about Targ Burn and this CP. It doesn't make sense to me. Yes, Incinerate is awesome, but how many more events/attachments can you really run in your Burn deck before it stats becoming bogged down. Burn decks already run more locations/attachments/events than most decks; are you really going to be able to win with burn alone?

In other news, it looks like Targs are getting an attachment version of the Forever Burning event in Harried by Dragons. This version is not as self contained as the event, but it only has a one time investment of 1 gold and it thins your deck also. Slap down a Lady D's Chambers or take Griff as your only agenda and you're good to go. Never starve from a lack of influence for running some small amount of burn ever again. You can only use the Response if you play it from your hand with gold. Ambush is a "put into play" effect.

None of that is old news. These are reprints of the reprints.
-
The card has to be in play unless it says otherwise in the action's description.
-
Citadel Law says:
"Plot: Kneel a Maester character to choose a player. That player must choose and reveal a new plot card."
Can this event be used in the Plot phase before the first plots of the game are chosen and revealed? The reason I question it is because Citadel Law says, "a new plot card," which makes me think that there has to be an "old" plot card already out.
Shadow Parasite says:
"Response: After a character's STR is reduced by X, Shadow Parasite gets +X STR until the end of the phase."
Can this response be triggered from a Flame-Kissed that was placed on a character before the Shadow Parasite comes into play? For example, the opponent plays Flame-Kissed on my 3-STR character during Turn 1. In turn 2 the opponent plays the Shadow Parasite and activates the Response because of Flame-Kissed's STR reduction. I don't think this works, but it was a question that came up in our play group.

I don't think more "lists" are the way to go. It makes the game more confusing for casuals who want to follow the rules.

You keep playing until someone gets 15 power and wins the game. Having no deck means nothing other than having no cards to draw.
