I've been having moderate success with 2 blue squadron, 2 prototypes, and a rebel operative hwk with ion. I keep the b's abd hwk together and set my a's as flankers.

If I were fighting your squad I would be focus firing the B wings. They aren't fast so I know where they will be making range 1-2 shots easy to achieve.

It seems like all your eggs are in the Ibtisam basket, maybe IM wrong but it seems like if you swapped the HLC to the dagger it would make target priority a little harder. Also not a huge fan of A-wings but if you can make them work go for it. Just know that your two B wings will take a beating while the A's line up flanking shots.

Just a 4x6 sheet of plywood covered in black felt and airbrushed with the Testors crappy airbrush and Vallejo paints.  I think it came out well.  They boy did a lot of the painting and him and my daughter got the paint-flick duty for stars.

Just came back from the game with a win...but a **** tight win...

    My Squad:

    - ORS + Navigator + Intelligence Agent + APL
    - Luke + R2D2
    - Prototype Pilot x2
    Total: 99 points

    Against:

    - Captain Kagi + Recon Specialist
    - Captain Jonus + Consuccion Missile
    - Scimitar Squadron Pilot + Concussion Missile + Seismic Charges x2
    Total: 100 points

Started really poorly for me with, again, bad rolls in attack and defense.  Could not roll more than 2 hits and he mostly evaded my attacks.  My ORS didn't really do it's job but still managed to block 2 Bombers but only scored 1 hit with APL.  He died pretty soon.

First time playing 2 A-Wings and **** they're fun to move around and mess with the enemy.  They're great flankers and greatly mobile.  I was often able to be in range 1 and outside of the enemy LOS.  Great ship that i'll field again.

Luke + R2D2 = awesome!  I was downed to 1 hull pretty quickly but managed to get my shield back at 2 in no time.  He also killed the Shuttle with the help of the 2 A-Wings two turns after my ORS was destroyed.

Then the tide changed and my rolls became awesome.  I was hitting like crazy and evaded a lot.  Felt good to at least do something.  I downed a Bomber, then another until it was Luke and 1 A-Wing vs Jonus.

I won after a K turn with Luke and an A-Wing coming from the flank, Jonus with no LOS to any of my ships had no chance.

Great game but too long.  3 hours...I don't understand why it took that long.  No AP from both of us, no downtime...maybe because of some turn where we just manoeuvered around without being able to shoot.

    Anyways, was a great game!

I might change some things though and remove the lone ORS and replace him with maybe a B-Wing with Advanced Sensors or something else...like that maybe:

    - Luke + R2D2
    - Ibtisam + AdvS + Squad Leader (OR Swarm Tactics)
    - Prototype Pilot x2
    Total: 99 points

    OR

    - Garven Dreis + R2D2
    - Ibtisam + HLC
    - Prototype Pilot x2

Played my first points game with my son last night.  We had a great time.  We both have plans for ships to add, things to remember for next game, and taunts to share the next time we line up ship to ship.  I didn't any notes, or remember to take enough pics, but here are a few with commentary.

The Alliance has recieved intelligence that an advanced form of Tie gifhter is being tested in a back-waters sector.

A pair of X-wings led by Wedge head towards the escorting Ties.   Meanwhile, the Tie/A heads off to assist another Tie in what they think will be an easy kill on a lone Y-wing.  Little do the know the Y hass a functional Ion cannon to disable the Tie/A for capture.

Wedge and his wingman go head to head with the Ties.

The Y is ganged up on.

With Wedge dying a hero's death, the surviving X-wing races to help the lone Y.

Blasters blazing, the Red Squadron pilot races in.

The other pair of ties arrive to make things hot for the Alliance pilots.  Sheilds are gone all over the sector.

Lucky to still be alive the X-wing tries to avoid Imperial fire.

Finally, a tie explodes, odds are still in the Imperial favor.  The Y is about to die.

Massed Imperial fire destroys the last X-wing, preserving the Tie/A for continued development.

I rolled horribly the whole game, every hit I had, my son evaded.  Every hit he had, I rolled blanks... Not even a focus could save me.  I forgot some of Wedge's abities ear;y on, and it cost the poor guy.  Lts to think about for our next game, and more ships t add the fleets!

    BG out

I hope it is very very close to Xwing! A good fantasy minis game that includes air and ground forces and as balanced as Xwing? It would sell like... Well...Xwing!
I was actually hoping FFG would snag the rights to an "Aliens" minis game... Now there is something with potential. 2.5 factions... Loads of fluff and flavor... Would work awesome as a skirmish game.

SolennelBern got a reaction from Pgorell in HOW do we dealing the critical damage correctly ??
    (1) Where on the card it says to discard it if you don't roll a hit?
You got hit by a crit, the card said roll a die and on a hit take an extra hit then flip this card facedown.  A facedown card is a damage.  So you take 1 damage and got lucky you didn't roll a hit for an extra damage.

Card text in all the cards is pretty clear.  If it doesn't say to discard, you keep it.

    (2) You don't take 2 damages.  You take a crit damage.  Hits and crits are similar, it's still only one hit and the only difference is that a hit is always facedown and a crit give you an extra effect to suffer.  1 Hit = 1 facedown card with no futher effet / 1 Crit = 1 face up card and resolve it's effect.

Example: Your ship has 3 hull left.  You get hit by 1 Hit and 1 Crit after rolling your green dice.  First you take 1 facedown card for the Hit and then you resolve 1 face up card for the Crit.  So we'll take your example card et you roll a focus, which results in no extra hit from the crit.  After resolving the Crit card, if like yours it says to turn it face down you simply flip the card.  So at the end of this combat you'll have suffer 2 damages total and be left at 1 hull.

Let me know how it goes.

I'm not sure you need Biggs to protect the ORS though. The reason I say that is, if it's doing its job, anything touching it can't shoot at the ORS. It is largely protected by this strategy. Biggs can help the ORS get close. However, for the points, you might consider dropping the MF title and upgrade Biggs to Garven. That way he can pass a focus token to whoever would have the best shot (usually the ORS so his range 1 shot can be more powerful in the event he bumps (which he will (a lot))).

I'll try this squad that look really fun and hilarious to play.  It's based off one of SableGriffon's idea over the Battle Report forums:

    1x ORS + Intelligence Agent + Navigator + MF + Anti-Pursuit Lasers
    1x Biggs Darklighter + R2-D2 + Shield Upgrade
    2x Prototype Pilots

The idea is to get the annoying ORS in the way of enemy ships and let it do his thing while Biggs plays his laser magnet role and let the ORS live a bit longer and the 2 prototypes as flankers manoeuvering around and attacking when then can.

    Will be fun!

I will tell You how I did that. It's not revolutionery or anything but it keeps the feeling from 1ed and dungeon crawling.
Heros have Fortune Points: in a 2/3 player game they have 8, in 4 player -6, in 5 - 4. Each time a Hero is defiteated the Heroes loose 1 FP. When the hero is defeated and there is no FP to loose, the players have lost the game.
They do not know the map, just like in 1e, and the map is discovered part by part when they exlpore. So it still uses the sections from 1e quests.
If they defeat the last boss on the map they have won.
Simple and it worked quite well as game between session or campain.
    Cheers

You know, if you want to shoot sooner with the Blue, it's cheaper to increase to Ten Numb than it is to have a largely useless Roark hanging around. Afterall, without a turret, his main attack is 1 die. And he maneuvers poorly.

One ORS can work, though it is harder to clog all escape venues with one. Still, if that's all you have, consider this:

    Outer Rim Smuggler (27)
    Intelligence Agent (1)
    Navigator (3)
    Anti-Pursuit Lasers (2)
    Blue Squadron Pilot (22)
    Advanced Sensors (3)
    Rookie Pilot (21)
    Rookie Pilot (21)
    Total: 100

This way you have the massive blocker. You have two Rookie Pilots, which are quite sound craft, capable of dealing significant damage. And you have a B-Wing with advanced sensors to dance around in combat.

So, got back from my league night. I took a new experimental list. The list is a bit... troll...ish...

    Outer Rim Smuggler (27)
    Intelligence Agent (1)
    Navigator (3)
    Anti-Pursuit Lasers (2)

    Outer Rim Smuggler (27)
    Intelligence Agent (1)
    Navigator (3)
    Anti-Pursuit Lasers (2)

    Prototype Pilot (17)

    Prototype Pilot (17)

    Total: 100

Now, Outer Rim Smugglers get a bad rap. With 2 attack dice, only 4 shields and 6 hull, they are certainly less impressive than their named brethren. I noticed, however, that they can take an interesting combination. APL + Intel Agent + Navigator. Here's how it works:

When activation phase begins, each ORS selects an enemy craft in range 1-2 and looks at its dial. Navigator then allows the ORS to change the speed of any maneuver they select. Since they are PS1, they move before the vast majority of enemy craft. So this change in speed can potentially put them in the way of their hapless victim. At which time an attack die is rolled. On a HIT or CRIT, they take a damage. All this for 33 points.

    I thought about taking 3, but I only had 2 YT-1300s (foam slot limitations... don't judge me). But 34 points is exactly 2 PS1 A-Wings. ... Excellent.

    The first match was against:

    Captain Jonus + Squad Leader
Gamma Squadron + Cluster + Proton Torpedoes
Gamma Squadron + Cluster + Concussion Missiles
    2x Academy Pilot

As expected, the list quickly dropped one ORS with an alpha strike. However, as the ships began running into my large, clumsy ships, they were unable to concentrate fire on my second ORS. As both Academy TIEs fell to concentrated fire, he began concentrating on my A-Wings. In one round, he attacked a single A-Wing (with focus) with four ships, three at range 1. All attacks had at least two hits (including one with 2 crits). The A-Wing dodged all of it without spending the focus. He was eventually able to take out the A-Wing, but it was too late. My remaining ORS and A-Wing hunted down each of his bombers to wreak revenge.

    The second match was against:
    3x Obsidian Squadron
    Tempest Squadron
    Maarek Steele + Marksmanship

This was my first time facing the ellusive Maarek Steele. He attempted to concentrate fire, but the ORS was just too clumsy, causing him to crash into them repeatedly, doing fistfuls of damage over the course of the game. He was able to take out one ORS, but he just could not escape me as I was able to predict his moves and jam up his flight paths repeatedly. I did get to see Maarek's ability used for the first time, gaining a Direct Hit (of course) because of it.

    Third Match was against:

    Prototype Pilot
    Rookie Pilot
    Garven Dreis
Kyle Katarn + Blaster Turret + Recon + Moldy Crow + Shield Upgrade

He had initiative, which caused a couple issues. I attempted to 4 K-Turn into initial combat, but was blocked. Still, this worked out as I had both ORS clogging the center of the map in the asteroids. I was able to do a lot of damage early, but spread out across his forces. I placed the HWK and Garven in a bad position, forcing them to hit the ORS repeatedly. The Anti-Pursuit Lasers earned their pay this day. Still, he was able to take out one A-Wing before his first ship fell, Garven. Shortly thereafter the rest of his fleet fell. He did a lot of damage. In the end, I only lost the one A-Wing but every other ship only had a single hull left. Very close.

    Fourth Match was against:
    Han + Marksmanship + Gunner + Chewy
    2 Rookie Pilots

The classic Han Shoots First list. I setup one A-Wing to the far left, then the rest spread across the middle. He setup to the far right. I swung the ORS up through the middle, one turning up and the other turning right. This meant that I entirely clogged his flght paths. All three craft crashed into the ORS, though one backed up passed the X-Wing. This caused him to not have shots with his X-Wings for several rounds, plus taking a couple damage. As the A-Wings began their assault on Han and the X-Wings and with an ORS blocking heavily, there was little they could do. He managed to eliminate one ORS, but by then it was too late. Both X-Wings had fallen and Han quickly collapsed under the weight of fire.

This list was far, far more successful than I expected it to be. It helps that I can thread a needle when piloting though an asteroid field and frequently surprise opponents with where I can place my craft. Twice I missed an asteroid by less than a millimeter, to the chagrin of my opponent. To be fair, some of that is luck, but I have a reputation for hugging, nuzzling and cuddling asteroids without actually touching them. I didn't expect to go 4-0 with this list. Granted, two of my opponents were relatively new, but two were quite capable fliers.

I believe the problem with fighting this list is that it flies so differently from other lists. I don't have to worry about firing arc with two craft. I'm actively trying to bump and they are large bases so they are capable at that task. Seeing dials and actively fowling the is a brutal tactic and one my opponents were slow to adapt to.
