Best Card Combos In The Game - What Are They?
Rave replied to Jools2's topic in 1. AGoT General Discussion
Strongest one I've seen is Burning on the Sands + The Prince's Plans. Any pre-plot event + rule by decree first turn is good if they don't catch on. Another good combo with narrow escape is to Hidden Vale Pass a Burned Men into play, and then use NE it after it is discarded. Neutral House Card + Hollow Hill isn't qute busted, but is certainly worth watching. Adding Val into the mix can make it entertaining. In a brotherhood deck, Anguy the Archer + Wildfire Assault is potentially game winning. If you're Lanni, you can throw in Core Set Joffrey too. -
Ahzrab said: First of all, in my opinion it's pretty hard to build a good working 48 card deck without cutting too much base cards (resources/counters/characters). Second: It actually takes a lot of time to remove those 12 chains and if you're out of maesters, you're pretty much screwed. Playing more than 6 chains is really risky in a maester light deck. If you want a change in this area, I would suggest, that you have to attach a minimum number of chains to the agenda, so not everyone plays with only 3 chains. I don't agree with this. A well made 48 card deck will setup wonderfully nearly every time. You will be on par, if not in better shape than your opponent, so winning challenges will come easier. You will get your draw and any toolbox cards not taken care of by the agenda in your hand pretty quick. In a 48 card deck with 3x apprentice collar (one on the agenda), 3 or 4 printed maesters, and here to serve, you will always have a maester. You might not even need 3 or 4 printed maesters unless your opponent is heavy on the hate.

It's actually not too bad in this game. The cards are numbered based on the house they belong to I think. S- Stark L- Lannister T- Targaryen B- Baratheon
-
I think my main issue with this agenda is the fact that it technically lets you run a 50 (eventually 48) card deck, which is WAY too tight for this game. Of course Joffrey and Robert are going to steamroll you when they get the cards they need every setup and every round. I think the agenda should be worded to just let you add chains to the agenda, instead of pulling them out of your deck. Taking the chain keyword off of the apprentice collar is good too, that way you can still have the uber-character decks, you're just taking a risk to get the engine rolling.

Why did they end up bannning Compelled by the Rock? Was there some gamebreaking combo that utilized it? It doesn't seem any worse than stupid cards like Burning on the Sand.

SacTown Mafia... the thread that cannot die!

Yeah, these are horrible forums, everything about them is so clunky. They probably aren't the worst forums we've had either. Anyway, here's a good proxy image. http://www.cardgamedb.com/forums/uploads/1281901798/gallery_28_388382.jpg Do you have photoshop? I usually just drag the image into a blank file and print them that way, somewhere around 200dpi works best. I'm sure I'll pop in once or twice wednesday, I can't really miss much of this class since it's once a week. -

Not a big deal. You guys can always hit me up on OCTGN. -
I've had no problem finding good competitive players on OCTGN.
-
Hello chaps. Any of you guys tired of Thrones, and want to branch to a different LCG? Well, I'm in the opposite boat. There's zero competitive scene over here for W:I, and as much as I like the game, I can't really play it anymore. I've got 2 core sets and at least 1 of each battlepack and expansion (sans 1 or 2 packs from the corruption cycle, and the second to last one that just came out.) For Thrones, I need any -Secret of Oldtown battlepacks (except for mask of the archmaester) -Box expansion with 3x of every card. (I guess the reprinted ones, right?) Best case scenario, I'd like to trade on a pack by pack basis. We'll work out any 14.99/9.99 pack or expansion imbalances in our trade. So yeah, if you're interested, hit me up. dggames2002@yahoo.com is good if you would prefer to offer over email. If nobody takes, it will be up on Ebay soon, and I will leave the link on here. Thanks guys.

OCTGN2 Wippien NETWORK - List of players
Rave replied to Gualdo's topic in 1. AGoT General Discussion
Add me if I haven't added you already: rave@wippien.com -
I still think Martell is the best choice from what I've seen. Though I have not played against the Robert deck.

Now on wippien. This is a better way to get a hold of me. rave@wippien.com

You know if this was the first version spoiled of some great Bara character, you would be the one posting 'nonsence'. Haha! Or maybe in honor of Stag Lord, Ser Amory Lorch will make a return in the lannister box. Alongside the new House Brax Enforcer with double renown of course.

I think people's opinion of him will improve as time passes. Joust is a very strong mechanic. I thought he was garbage until I noticed he had a power icon. That could make him pretty scary late game. That being said, it doesn't really feel like Gregor. We're talking about the poster boy of the deadly keyword here. AFAIK This is the only Gregor Clegane card out of 6(?) without the word kill or killed somewhere in the ability text.

I'm in class all day wednesday, so I can't really make it anymore :/ I'll be in the area thursday afternoons, if anyone wants to play then, or friday/saturday/sunday. Though, after this semester I'll probably have a complete set of cards, now that we have reprints! Otherwise, I'm down for OCTGN pretty much any night besides tuesday or wednesday, so hit me up! -
Anyone want to play? Here is my info: dggames2002@yahoo.com

If the card pool is current, I'll play with you. Can you link me to the files needed to play? -
rings said: Rave said: Wait wait wait... Didn't you play Martell Brotherhood this year? You might as well have brought a crossbow to the bathroom with you, traitor. ~ It isn't any secret that I play only Martell or Lanni at tourneys. I never assumed the mantle of Lanni master, I just have more of a resume than a certain Mr. Kennon who played Bara I think in the other large tourney I saw him in (Days of Ice and Fire). However, Rave, if you were still playing, THEN we would have a winner. I don't think I EVER saw you play anything but Lanni. Thanks! Honestly with the STM back, I think I'm all in with Thrones now. So if you decide to stay, maybe I'll see you next Worlds.

Over the years of playing old-school thrones, here are a few things I found useful. -Try to shoot for 60 cards, a few over is probably fine. But how often do you really draw all 60 cards in a game? It's just clogging your deck. -Make sure you have enough card draw to stay afloat. Lack of card draw is probably the #1 reason people lose games. -If you find yourself overloaded with events, try to splash some of your toolbox cards into your character base (ie. something like pyromancer's apprentice instead of condemned by the council) this will usually give you some breathing room. Save your event slot for the big stuff. -If something costs 5+ gold, it had better change the environment or set fire to your opponent's side of the table or something similar when it comes out. Otherwise there's probably a better option. This also goes for 2+ cost attachment cards. -Don't don't don't play your deck before the tournament. Just play something else. It's not worth giving up your tech early.

Wow! Looks great! I like how kneel isn't a focus of this box. That agenda is pretty killer.

Mathlete is awesome! I remember one time I brought a friend to Gencon that was new to Thrones, and John made him believe he was also new to the game. Then at the end of their game, he busted out The First Snow of Winter and was like "Hey, whose name is that?!"
