Yeah, but those cards were printed before the concept of dark fate existed, so I'm not sure that the "You" part should be taken into consideration. Principally, they're supposed to work when a fate is spent and the player has to reroll his die, so it shouldn't matter who spent the fate, as long as the player who has the item / spell has to reroll, no?
-
say someone spends a dark fate to make a character who has the Orb of Destiny reroll their die.
does that character roll 2 dice, as the Orb of Destiny indicate, or does it only work for white fate that the character with the orb uses?
same question for other object & spells, such as Twist of Fate. if someone uses a dark fate on a character, can that character cast Twist of Fate to choose his result?
-
in the woodlands, there are creatures and enemies that you meet, that have strength / craft equal to the amount of fate that you have.
my question is, what happens if you use a fate during the fight? is there any change, or do they remain the same as they were in the beginning?
thanks

I would think so...
related question though, if a character always has a spell, and passes a spell to the character to his right, does he right away draw a new spell, or does he have to wait for the passing cycle to end, to see that he doesn't get a spell back?
-
In the Woodlands deck, there's a card which says that each character has to pass a life / fate / gold to a character to his right, and then an item / follower / spell.
Now say that the character to my right has 2 craft or is already maxed out with spells, can i still pass him a spell, which would probably make him discard to his spell limit, or is it just impossible to pass a spell in that situation?

Yes, a Forest Terrain Card could replace the original Forest for this Ending effect. I often use Spells that place Terrain Cards to shut down the Treasure Chamber or the Eyrie, and around 2 times I've used Verdant Growth to place a Forest there. Imagine having all characters teleported in the depths of the Highland, having to trail back to the Outer Region and then into the Woodland!
Hehe I like the idea...
A relating question though... if I put a Terrain card on the Warlock's Cave, are characters still able to finish quests, or do I block them from doing so?
-
Thanks a lot for the responses and sorry for posting in the wrong place -

should I re-post this question under the Rules sub-section or can this whole thread just be moved there? -

Hey guys,
2 new questions popped up in yesterday's game within our group:
1. In most cases, when a character gets to the last space on the woodland board, they resolve the card and get teleported to the Forest. so far so good, but what happens if there's a Terrain card on the forest, so it doesn't exist anymore?
Is the character teleported to where it was? does he stay in the same space and has to double back (if so, does he draw a new Path card?)?
2. There's a card that exists in both the Woodland deck and the Adventure deck (added with the woodland expansion) called "Faerie Trod". It reads: "Discard your current Path, if able, and take a new Path from the top of the Path deck..."
How does this work with being outside the Woodlands? To our knowledge, once a character leaves the Woodlands, he must discard his Path, so there's no way a character can be with a path outside the Woodlands, which makes this card kinda strange... are we doing this wrong?
Thanks!

It indeed solved the dilemma.
thanks a lot! -

Hey Warlock, thanks for the reply.
The ideas was that while inside the Woodlands region, it is much better to be unbound. You can cruise through the region, collecting all the goodies and possibly a destiny card as well, without most of the region's risks, and then get out of the region, become light/darkbound and use all the collected stuff.

last question... i promise -

does anyone know where i can get a new talisman main board, without buying the full game?
i made the mistake of loaning the game to a friend a while back, and he returned the board all mangled up...
any ideas?
thanks a lot! -

So I'm not really clear on how Fateless characters should be effected by woodland cards.
The rulebook says that they must resolve the the lower effect.
does that mean that if the card has white fate effect and under it a dark fate effect, they should act on the dark one?
also, we found that going into the woodlands while unbound, reduces the risks of the region by a lot. totally unbalanced with the rewards you might get if not unbound.
what do you think?
has anyone made any change to those mechanics?

Hy guys,
My group and I have been playing for a very long time now, and have been treating spells that relate to enemies and spells that relate to creatures as the same thing, but lately we started to wonder if this should indeed be the case?
Whereas enemies are only cards that have Enemy embedded on them, creatures can relate to anything ranging from the ghost that attacks you in the crags to the dungeon keeper.
Is that not the case?
What do you think?
Cheers!

how does the toadify situation fare in case of evasion?
cant a player evade another player who attacks him and casts toadify? (evasion either by character ability or spell)
-
1. character A attacks character B. character A casts "toadify". then, character B casts "summon bear". is the bear turned into a toad or is the character?
2. character A is on the crown of command. character B casts "path of destiny" on character A. character A draws "give another character 1 gold". must this quest be resolved immediately, by giving any other player 1 gold and being teleported to the warlock's cave, or is it only resolved if a character lands on another character and THEN gives that character 1 gold?
3. it is said that characters with a quest cannot pass through the portal of power. can this be bypassed via the dungeon ending? can a character with a quest defeat the lord of darkness and be teleported directly to the crown of command, eventhough he has a quest?

3. dragon rider.. is there any way for him to lose the dragon follower he has? its kinda rough..If you force her to ditch all Followers (e.g. Toad, Cursed by a Hag) he has to ditch the Dragon as well, since it's a Follower to him. In this case, it was clarified that Followers without the Follower keyword on the card are discarded instead.
Hmm this is a tricky one, because as I understand from the rules followers are only the ones that have the word Follower on them. So hag wouldn't make you loose your followers also characters like Vampiress can only take followers which have the word follower on it. So basically you can only loose the dragon follower by becoming toad.
I think I have a thread in here somewhere where I got it confirmed that only cards with the word follower actually counts as a follower.
This is the type of question that made the success of the FAQ acronym. It is a genuine Frequently Asked Question and the answer was given an infinite number of times, but still no FAQ update has been issued so far. I'll summarize again and I beg you to redirect people to this thread if you see them asking again. This is NOT in the Rulebook, you won't ever guess how it works from there.
The rule is:
Cards that become Followers thanks to a Spell, an Object or a Character's Special Ability are to be considered Followers for the Character that holds them. They are not Followers for other Characters, as they don't have the Follower keyword, and cannot be targeted by their Spells and abilities.
If an Adventure card or board space that affects Followers is encountered by the Character, "special" Followers are affected because they are Followers to that Character.
Such Followers can be ditched at any time, but they are discarded instead. If forced to ditch (e.g. Toad), you discard.

i already know all this, but i wanted to ask this specifically for this character to see if i've missed anything.
i was asking because we figured that it makes that char rather overpowered compared to the rest. -

we ran to the highlands without any other choice.
we played were 4 players, and so, even if 1 clears a scale, the other 3 have chances to put it back and even add more. not all cards are enemies, and so even if you go to a scale, there's no promise it will be an enemy, and even if it is, you're not sure you will kill it, and so there are high chances to get hit by the rage.
we had the dragon priestess in the game, which contributed to the problem, by not attacking anything from the scales.. just collecting cultists and praying to dragons, thus getting stronger..
-
regarding the 4th issue, the problem is not facing the dragons from the scales, but the dragon rage. as to my understanding, if all spaces on the board have scales, and a character draws another scale that has to go on the board, that character suffers the dragon rage from the current dragon king. since all spaces were taken, no1 wanted to get out to the outer region and take a chance that they would draw the scale that has to go on the board, and get the rage..

hey guys..
we've come up with some new questions.. mostly regarding the new dragons expansion, and 1 regular.
1. i'll start with the regular.. say i lost a battle and cast retribution (rematch). can i cast new spells / use different items / evade in the 2nd battle, or does it have to be an exact replica of the 1st battle?
2. "dragonspire" and "great portal" cards from the green and red dragon decks, which teleport you somewhere according to the scales you have+board+die / strength+craft+scales you have+die.. is it only me or are they complete game enders? so far we've encountered them 2ce in 2 games we played with the new expansion. in both cases it was in the middle/advance part of the game. in both cases the character who drew it, was teleported directly to the crown of command without much effort. in 1 case the char had 16 scales + 16 on the board, and in the others he had 9 craft, 13 strength and 8 scales.. arent those places way too overpowered?!
3. dragon rider.. is there any way for him to lose the dragon follower he has? its kinda rough..
4. has any1 else encountered a problem when the board fills up with scales? in that case, no1 wanted to get the dragon rage, so every1 ran away from the region that was filled up, and so it just remained filled up, with every1 too scared to go back there.. what's up with that?

this is actually a big debate that we're having because of the writing on the card.
this is what it says: "After you roll the die for your move, you may add 1 to the score"
what do you think?

2. hmm interesting question, I'm uncertain how the wording on the card say, but for leprechaun I would say no it can't make his teleport to trigger more often with walking stick. But It all depends on the wording on the card.

we've been playing for so long, i cant even remember -

perhaps it was just a house rule
-
really? as far as i remember, the rulebook stated that characters can not teleport in the inner region..

ancient names spells during another character's turn
in Talisman Rules Questions
Posted
To my knowledge, each character can only cast 1 spell during another character's turn.
my question is - can a character who has Ancient Names (or a Genie for that matter) cast all the spells on the card during another character's turn, or are the spells on that card bound by that rule as well?
We had an argument about it, since basically it is said that the spells are not actually being cast by the character, but by the card, so we're not sure if the card is bound by the same rules as regular characters.
