It's a small thing, but I really appreciate FFG using neutral "they" for the player instead of just "he" in this rulebook. They usually do a great job with inclusivity, and this is just more stuff in the right direction.
That being said, I didn't realize before reading this that you didn't have to resolve all dice of the same type at the same time, which I'm sure will open more tactical options, and I love that they included basic multiplayer rules with this set. It will be interesting to see if they release rules for a team version down the road.

weaponxmerc got a reaction from Rogue30 in 4 new cards spoiled in Miami Dice's review video.
I had a few issues with this review, and normally I like Dice Tower's stuff.
One of the big complaints they (and a lot of other people have) is cost to get started. But if you look at any other Star Wars game out right now, it's all going to be pretty similar. Even if you get two of each starter and 10 boosters, you're looking at around $90, which is a lot cheaper than buying the Imperial Assault starter base set and corresponding figures. If you want to build a solid foundation for the Star Wars LCG, it's recommended you have two copies of the core set and two copies of Edge of Darkness, and then any other packs you might want. Collecting enough X-Wing ships will definitely run you at least that much, especially if you want to have a couple squads of different factions available. I actually love that the entry point for Destiny is kind of up to you, apart from the starters. It's easier to get your feet wet in the game without making an initial big investment.
The other thing I thought was interesting was the question of replayability. I find games where you can always be getting new cards and tweaking your decks endlessly replayable, as long as I enjoy the game itself. Of course it will probably get old if you never buy any more cards, but where's the fun in that?

I agree, a huge part of the fun of games like this for me is creating and tweaking my decks. However, I definitely see the value in things like drafts, especially if it gives the new players a way to start the game for cheaper.

@Scottie ATF, I don't think I have ever disagreed with anything you have posted on these forums.  Once again, spot on.
There is no chance of Destiny even coming close to Magic and probably nobody ever will.  Magic is also going through a major change now as well.  Kaladesh is probably the most beautiful card set I have ever seen in my life, but it has the community fairly divided on the future direction of the game.

There is a fine line for smaller games to walk.  You can't unleash massive amounts of cards and turnover, but you need to keep the game from stagnating.  For me personally, I just want a good game that hopefully I don't feel like I need to spend ridiculous amounts of money on.  This game looks to be in a good place right now, with a decent sized first set, 2 card limit and a decent enough rarity system in place.  The future is all speculation, but as mentioned above by Scottie, it is safe to assume what sort of pace or volume we can expect.
SPECULATION: We won't see another set for this game for at least 6 months after release.  At that pace, we can probably expect a total of 2 more sets next year in addition to this years launch.  Which wallet is fine with, as I plan to have full play sets.

Nah, the way I look at it the nay sayers will do whatever they can to find a way to deny the app is being made. They are really, really digging here if they are trying to twist their words like that. The quote from the presentation is about as clear as it gets, we are working on it, its coming, please stop bothering us (smiley face). From this point on I choose to totally ignore their argument as I find it has no grounds, thus I will just look forward to the app and patiently await its arrival.

Considering that skirmish upgrade is most definitely Sabine from Star Wars Rebels, I am definitely inclined to think these three already-dead characters are going to lead the charge for a Rebels/Rogue One box expansion.

On the reverse side, I have all the IA expansions so far, but this app is making me want to buy Descent as well. I think playing the co-op with my wife would be a lot of fun, and while my IA group isn't lacking for Imperial players, I'd love to not need one if necessary. An app like this for IA would truly be a game changer, and I really hope they're working on one.

    But it's all there.

Ren's interactions with Han show why he didn't like him. He wants to embrace the Dark Side completely, his connections to family hold him back from that. We're literally told this in the movie.
He wants to show that he's competent and makes assumptions about what he's capable of that end up falling short.
We don't need to know what he means by, "show me again," his remarks and the fact that he dresses like Vader (even emulating his helmet / voice modulator for cosmetic reasons, only to be called out on it) tell us what we need to know about how he perceives Vader.
Ren is with Snoke for training and as a guide to the Dark Side, their interactions make this really clear.

I get why people are disappointed with aspects of TFA, but Ren is very well executed from a character perspective. We get more nuance and substance in a couple of his scenes than we did with Anakin across the three prequels. Yes, he's immature, emo, and falls short of his potential. He's supposed to.

Mak has one ability that lets him remove a white die from an opponent's pool for an attack, which can be very powerful against the Nexu. He's one-shotted (or nearly) several Nexu in the game I'm running.

Remember that the Smuggler and Bantha Rider were announced during previews for Twin Shadows and released after RTH.  If that holds true here and the next large box is indeed an early time period then it's entirely plausible that they'll work within that time period.

Having just reached the half-way mark of our group's first IA campaign (and loving it!**), I've started to wonder whether a Road to Legend-esque app for IA would be thematically appropriate. With Descent being a dungeon crawler, part of the app's charm is that you explore, laying down the tiles as you search new areas. In this way, the app adds an element that Descent-in-the-box was sorely missing. That said, I'm not sure that this same kind of exploration would be appropriate to an IA equivalent app. I suppose you could take out the tile-by-tile exploration in favour of the whole map being revealed, but then that's one key element of the app that (IMHO) makes it such an engaging experience. Perhaps rebel players could "explore" the Imperial base they're assaulting, but I like the idea that they have the intel and know the layout.

That said, an IA app would remove the issue of the Imperial player potentially feeling guilty for beating on the rebels so much.

I'm not saying it couldn't work, I just think it suits Descent a lot more.

**In the week we've had IA, we've already played it more than Descent in the couple of years we've had that. The rule tweaks just seem to make the game faster and a little more tactical, more urgent. Skirmish is great too! Really enjoying it so far!

I think FFG is smart enough to play both sides and either make an ambiguous "Spark of Rebellion" box set, that is all about early rebel factions that group Rogue one and Rebel elements.

You guys are thinking of 'shopping' all wrong. The heroes aren't going to the neighborhood Wal-Mart, simply because Wal-Mart doesn't sell dangerous, highly illegal, military grade weapons. We are clearly talking about serious black market stuff here (conveniently explaining why the stock is always different). Just like you find guns likely scavenged from a squad of dead storm troopers in the item deck, this seller must have found a lightsaber that had been lost after its owner was gunned down with order 66, or perhaps even earlier. There's no question that every now and then an abandoned lightsaber would be found, probably belonging to a dead Jedi, and naturally there would be a (highly illegal) market for such a weapon. As long as we don't start getting 20 different lightsabers in the item deck, this is totally plausible. Besides, it gives you an option if Diala loses her side mission but still wants a lightsaber (because who wouldn't want that?).

When Twin Shadows was initially announced, I was really hoping Saska would have some kind of companion, like a turret she could throw out, or a droid who would help her get things done. It'll be interesting to see if they add anything like that for new heroes.

weaponxmerc got a reaction from Rogue Dakotan in 2016 Store Championship Results
Had our Store Championship at Guardian Games in Portland, OR today. I went 3-0 with this list, although I came in second due to strength of schedule. We had 8 players, and I think it was evenly split between Rebels and Imperials, although there might have been 3 Rebels and 5 Imperials. I'm not sure what the exact squad of the guy who came in first was, but I know it included eStormies and eSnowtroopers.

    My squad:
    [10] Luke Skywalker
    [8] Wookiee Warrior
    [7] Elite Rebel Saboteur
    [5] MHD-19
    [8] Leia Organa
    [2] C-3PO
    -------------------
    [2] Heart of Freedom
    [2] Miracle Worker
    [3] Son of Skywalker
    [2] Wookiee Rage
    [2] Wookiee Rage
    [1] Pummel
    [0] Devotion
    [0] Expose Weakness
    [0] Take Initiative
    [0] Element of Surprise
    [0] Fleet Footed
    [0] Planning
    [1] Single Purpose
    [2] Inspiring Speech
    [0] Recovery

I tried some variations of this squad leading up to the tournament, but I lost multiple times. I put this one together last night and it performed extremely well. I was worried that not having Gideon might hamper me, but in the end I really don't think it made much difference. Every unit was useful and effective, and I don't think there's anything I would change. My first game was against a Leia/Luke/MHD/Gideon/Sabs/3PO squadron, my second was against an Imperial squad with eStormies, a eE-Web, Kayn Somos, and some officers, and it did very well against that. My third game was against a squad that consisted of RGC, Vader, and three Officers. Vader and the RGC managed to kill both of my Wookiee Warriors on the first round of the game, which definitely made things scary, but I was able to focus fire and take them out. It came down to MHD and my Saboteur chasing down two Imperial Officers. The Officers put up a good fight, but in the end, defeat was inevitable.
