  1. The previews over the past two weeks have made me really excited abput this one. I like the base game a lot for the quick, fun way it plays, but I feel the expansion is going to improve the game a lot, adding extra llayers while still maintaining the quick, easy to play character of the game. I was not sure at first, but will definitely be getting it now.!

I don't see myself using it with Radagast in my eagle deck, nor do I see myself exhausting Gandalf just to search my deck for a specific card. Way to expensive. Sneak attack + Gandalf + Word of command is awesome, but that's a 3-card combo. I hope they'll come up with Tom Bombadil as a new Istari card in the near future i hope not- it would be wrong if they did….see chapter 2 in my links Interesting read, but nothing in it that convinces me he couldn't be Istari, at least the possibility is not ruled out. If the Tolkien family would agree to it, why not?

  4. We managed to beat it in a 4-player game yesterday. Epic scenario, took a couple of tries and some luck with the drawing of the shadow cards. We noticed that feeding a couple of allies or heroes to the wargs on the first turn actually evened the odds, because the wargs got shuffeled back into the encounter deck. Very tight game, we managed to build up an army and defeating all of the ennemies in the staging area before moving on to stage 2. Our 4 decks were pretty in tune, with two players playing a lore/spirit deck, one player a tactics deck and one player a leadership/lore deck. Heroes were Glorfinedel/Bilbo/Eleanor, Eowyn/Dunhere/Beravor, Gimli/Brand/Legolas and Denethor/Aragorn/Theodred.
  5. Beast Rabban said: No. Unfortunately not. Even if you did get it back you cant play it because it doesnt have a play cost. You can only get it into play using a card that specifically allows you to return a hero to play. Good point, we figured this was the reason, but overlooked the remark in the rulebook.
  6. Just a quick question to get this clear: can I use Dwarven Tomb to get a dead spirit hero back from my discard pile? Is a hero belonging to the spirit sphere considered to be a spirit card?
  7. Will try the scneario tonight for the first time. Expecting an asskicking
  8. Build an eagle deck and go against the Return to Rhosgobel scenario.
  9. By all means, add me. Have been uploading scores, but not much session reports or tips yet.
  10. This is really a long-shot, but with the The Hobbit movies coming out late 2012/2013 I was just wondering about the chances of FFG making a sort of standalone expansion with special AP's telling the story of the Hobbit? Maybe after the main story arc of the LotR lcg will have come to an end (which probably will take a few years), or even sooner?

But now everything is going smoothly and I appreciate their release schedule.) I'm with you on that release schedule remark. FFG has picked up the pace quite nicely, and it feels like there is some LotR news or article being thrown at us every week now. Really helps keeping the fans excited. Also excited about the new encounter decks. I am wondering though if they will make new versions of existing heroes/allies, like they do with Game of Thrones. The article seems to hint at it, stating that there will be new (familiar) faces. Or am I reading to much in it?
  12. Same remark, the game feels to easy to win (which isn't saying it's no fun to play). In my experience, the game is best balanced out when playing with 4 investigators, as each investigator usually gets the chance to try one task before the clock strikes midnight. Ideas for future expansions to make things harder: - Harder, more punishing Mythos cards - More cards or tasks that move the clock forward - Some kind of Herald system like in AH - 'Shifting' tasks, for example when you fail a task you automatically get sucked into a gate leading to a dangerous dimension with a task that offers little reward and great penalties, and you are obliged to succeed the task to return to the museum
  13. I hope we'll see the Goblin King too in the near future
  14. It would be nice if FFG would center a large expansion around aspecific nation. I've been wondering what they will do woth the larger expansions for some time now. Center them around a nation? A race? Or a specific region? I know a large Moria expansion would be cool!
  15. From the descriptions found on ebay, the set will have 45 cards? I hope the PoD price won't be any higher than a normal chapter pack...
