Buy em!  Then you can play them as 1e (Call of the Wild is especially good), and you can use the rooms and minis with 2e.

It looks like every missing monster in the AH range is included in MoM2e.
The other monsters seem to be the same sculpts that already existed for that range.

True, haha. I'm just trying to hold onto the hope that the mini collection will be completed for those who were hoping for a full set.

So we're going to get 24 tiles in 2e.  That's much more than we got in 1e.  Value is looking better and better.

Not sure what your experience is.  I have used the Descent2 app and had all of the monsters and heroes from the expansions show up in the online quests.  It looks like the same will be true for MoM2.

The second option its probably the correct one - specific scenarios and end goals, but random elements, challenges and monsters. Theres some information around the web that says 5 scenarios. You can see in this screen a scenario selection option:

No, the tokens go in the monster bases, and have the stats and special attacks visible. These have likely changed for 2nd edition, so a new set of tokens is needed.

I'm pretty sure this is a ghost.  The mini in the MoM2e picture is the exact miniature model as the ghost in the Arkham Horror Line.  One of the fatter minis is likely Barnabas Marsh, as he is described as being so far advanced that he could no longer close his bulging fish eyes.

Confirmed versions by far: Spanish, French, German and Portuguese, released by FFG partners.
I don't remember any other FFG product with this global scale announcement like MoM 2 before. Good sign and hope for more in the future.

I play board games for the "board" and the social interaction of people in a physical space, so I wouldn't be interested in a game that was purely online.  However, about half my game group would probably go for that since they love online and video games.

App longevity is not an issue.
Download the app, use ex-fileexplorer to make a backup, shove it on a disc and put it in your box.
There will always be ways to play the app. Can you still play space invaders, the original, after all these years?? Yes.
Look at defunct systems, there are emulators for C64, spectrum, atari, nintendo64, snes, gameboy, gamegear, jaguar, amiga, neogeo, nds, bbc, vic-20, jama arcade machines (mame) and the list goes on... these emulators are available to run across systems, PCs, macs, i-os, android pretty much all encompassing.
I can choose an age old game, download its rom and the appropriate emulators and play it on my pc, tablet and phone. That is play the original, not a port, not a conversion, not a re release.
There will always be ways to play the app.
If the app stops being supported, its 99% sure it will coincide with releasing the last available expansion, so thats not an issue either.
The only issue here is whether you WANT to play using an app and if you dont, then dont buy it.
    I do, Ill buy it.

Daaamn you!! You got your hands on the Horrorclix Cthulhu

When this was released I was into Heroclix bigtime but had limited funds and hadnt stepped into the mythos yet. Since then I have tailed off Heroclix (didnt like the takeover, too many card-powers, too much price hike and too many new set releases) and yet got into Mythos and oooooh would I like one of the Cthulhu Horrorclixes.
    Jealous

Edit: Oh I spy a 40K figure too. Thats it, give me all your stuff!

My first reaction was exactly this.  I have so far mostly avoided games with mandatory digital or audio components (Space Alert, for example).  However, after playing Escape with its mandatory CD (I don't have a handy CD player for it) and the app for Descent 2 (I must use an android emulator since I don't have a personal cell phone I can use) and having a fabulous experience with both, I am now willing to try this with MoM2E.

I've also worried about the lifespan of a game once the app is no longer supported, but the reality is that nothing lasts forever.  if I spend 100 bucks on this and play it fairly regularly for 10 years, I will consider that I've got my money's worth.  Even playing 10 games at 100 bucks is a great deal IMHO.  At 2 hours a game that's like 5 bucks an hour.  I do lots of other things for entertainment that cost more than that.

Incidentally, that is how I measure the value of the games in my collection and decide to buy expansions or not.  I buy expansions for the games I play the most and enjoy the most, and that my friends enjoy the most, not the games that have the most pieces in the box or the lowest price.

My friend, MoM 1st edition was never a game I just broke out on a whim.  I always set it up the night before.

So due to that factor being beholden to an app doesn't bother me a bit.

As for how long it will be available, yeah that's a legit fear, but the .exe version you can get should work for a very long time to come, and who doesn't have a random Windows or Mac laptop laying around, at least if you're from my generation.

It looks like the 1e content (monsters+investigators) will be included in the 2e app, and those who don't have the 1e game or expansions will have to use tokens or proxies to represent these in 2e until the figures are released again in 2e expansions.

I'm completely fine with the app being like Descent. I just wanted ambiance... I like the idea of us investigators taking our turns and only hitting the app when we explore a new room/keeper actions. Nice and streamlined. I do hope that the scenario setup asks us to take out specific map tiles, clues, items, etc. before the game starts... digging through all the components in the box would be a real disruption to the game.

Well, Descent app has voice overs on the prologue and on the finale and a unique ambience / sound effect on the quests. It is better not to have high expectations in this topic.

Jeffrey Paul reacted to tsuma534 in With expansions, will we have to pay extra for it on the app?
The price of the app is included in the game's price, and the price of any "DLC" will be included in the expansion's price.
The app is an integral part of the game, you pay for the whole thing when you buy the box.
