I look forward to more 'fluff' and history around the setting, which can be developed quite a lot. Also look forward to a RPG version later.
Do you have any good websites for information and especially if a fan based storybuilding site exists, ike Lexicanicum WH 40K?
It look great, I agree and it is nice to hear that it works great. I am an avid chess player myself so it sounds ven better!

oh the fluff for the game is inside the scenario book (not the downloadable rulebook), it contains about a page discription of each unit and character in the main box. There is also a dust comic book. i hear it's preaty campy and fun.
extra materials can be found at javascript:void(0);/*1300395658954*/
Great link: http://www.dustgame.com/
I missed that one...
Regarding what I can see and buy, which models have the same size and standards as the minitature game, they are all 1/48?
Thankful for advice so i don't order stuff which may not be 10% compatible with the FF series. I guess I won't get the game dta, but it should not be difficult to figure out, right? Maybe someone already have the game data for all the minitatures?

Aha, which games was it?

Excellent, I agree even if I don't have much experience of Dust:Tactics, but it makes sense.

I can tell you that anyone in the kill team spending a fate point for any reason gives the kill team cohesion is a bad idea. That gives the kill team way to many cohesion points.
There are a great many things that will add to cohesion, armor, talents, skills, oaths, etc. The team needs to learn to not be selfish with their fate points.
As for the Back Banner, any time the character equipped with it does any action which gains cohesion points, then you add one to the total. We have it apply to Exemplar of Honor and Rally Cry. Our five man team will start in the 5-9 range depending on who is leader. When we get low we have two Exemplar of Honors and one Rally Cry to fill it back up. Ultramarines have a tendency to make sure the cup is always full.

Ok, there is more ways to resupply cohesion points. I did not know about Oaths, which one(s)?
The idea with the Back Banner giving an extra CP is not bad, will see how it works.
Thanks,

I think so yes, and when (as you say) circumstances, like lost limbs may require replacements.

Anti horde: Heavy bolter, Missile Launcher
Anti everything else: Conflageration Mulit-Melta
Just the conclusions I would draw, possibly adding the Heavy Flamer for some specific situations against large bioforms (with low Ag) in closed areas or on the open battlefield where the 30 m 30 degree arc can be used to a maximum.

Sorry, it should be:
My lifting capacity now with SB+TB+Feat of Strength is roughly 4500+900+900+900=6 900 kg... I am still missing 8100 kg, since the bloody thing weights 15 tonnes... BUT! With my 8SB (85) for my Servo-Arm (giving me 8SB extra) I can lift another 8x900= 7 200 kg... In total 14 100 kg....
(BUT as Fate stepped in, my Strength 85 rounded up to 90, giving me an extra 900 kg pullpower...)
YEESSS....nooooo; I caaaan't.... hrrrggghh! YEEES!!!

U Mother of a bloody xenos vermin, get the (grraaaahhh) out of here!

I assume the table on page 208, 7-7:Carrying, Lifting & Pushing extends above the values listed. Just a matter of some calculations.
Feat of Strength would give an extra 4SB to my character (from x2 to x3). Giving me 10+10+3=23 and then the question of my Exceptional Quality Servo-Arm with Strength 85!?
Is it reasonable it, my Servo-Arm, just hangs there when my Techmarine is using every fibre, sorry steel wire, in his body to lift the aircraft wreck that landed on top of my BattleBrother? I have to remove him before the whole thing goes up in flames and explodes...
My lifting capacity now with SB+TB+Feat of Strength is roughly 4500+2250+2250+2250=11 250 kg... I am still missing 8 750 kg, since the bloody thing weights 20 tonnes... BUT! With my 8SB (85) for my Servo-Arm, divided by 2 (giving me 4SB extra) I can lift another 10 000 kg! YEESSS! I made it!
Don't underestimate your Techmarine...

Ok, I get it!
All in all, what grade (1-10) would you give the game so far; and what grade do you see in one/two years to come, when all new stuff have come out and Russians, Chinese, etc can be played too? Hypothetically speaking from the potetial of the game and its future development.

New to Dust: Tactics I would like to start a thread to discuss which are the best features of the game and which improvements and campaigns are we looking forward to see?

THE AREAS ARE
- Imrovements of game mechanics
- Future campaign settings
- Future by-products (RPGs, novels, etc)
-
I have one game mechanic question before I may buy the game box:
- What stops distance shooting enemies from focusing all their fire power on ONE or TWO Heroes to eliminate him/them right away? In WH 40K at least you have distance and the group/squad taking the collective damage.
Thankful for insight information!

Yes, I am intrigued with the idea as well.
Warhammer 40K might work? They have applied rules for most sitations (rpg, small groups, large battles, vehicles, robotics, alien tech, etc).
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Warhammer_40,000_Roleplay
This kind of seeting would benefit from grand scale battles, as well as investigative and sci-horror genre. Lots of opportunites and threads to follow! If something does not show up I might develop my own basic set of rules with the minitatures as a basis for a campaign/skirmishing misions and then some RPG and investigations inbetween. Neat!

I am new to DW and currently uses a n Exceptional Quality Heavy Bolter (Master Signature Wargear), which seems to work allround and be useful in most circumstances. Actually I usually take the role of a 'semi-Devastator', since we don't have any in our group and my background as a gunship gunner is quite useful.
Which other HEAVY weapons do you prefer and why?
Plasma?
Flamer?
Melta?
Las?
Did I forgot something?

I wonder if it is feasible for a Techmarine to add his SB for the Servo-Arm to his total 'lifting capability' which is calculated by adding the Spacemarine SB+TB? If he have strong enough footing/balance, he should be able to take advantage of both his own body weight and the Servo-Arm?
In my example 10+10+8 would be 28 in lifting capability, what would he be able to lift with that?

Great background story!

Now I have made another suggestion to my GM for the Back Banner which sounds like this:
- the Back Banner bearer, which is also the Kill Team Leader, can sacrifice one Fate Point for the sake of the Kill Team, and receive 2 extra Cohesion Points to the total, which can be allocated on top of the original CP's
- the other team members can sacrifice a FP in order to get one CP (as before)
- finally, cohesion tests (d10) and fellowship/command test are made with -1 or +10 depending on which roll is made
Viola!
-
Maybe I inform my GM later...

No, but seriously, it makes sense to keep Deathwatch not becoming Cyberpunk, but on the other hand cybernetics is more accessible for Techmarines.
I have given my GM some mission topics in order to find and collect some items necessary, or perform favours and services in order to get access to some upgrades. If it is played this way it makes more sense, but still the 200-500 XP for cybernetics could very well apply, plus the Req. to get them installed/implanted before a mission.

The rules are VERY poor on the subject.
Apparently you can just pay 20req or whatever, have your spleen replaced and then gain a permanent bonus, for the cost of some one-mission Requisition.
Clearly this is utterly stupid. Requisition should NOT be able to buy permanent character improvements. Otherwise why doesn't every character simply buy another cybernetic every mission?
A better solution is to make people buy cybernetics as personal wargear, or as an Elite advance of some kind.
I don't disagree completely, but how would it be instead? Maybe to combine with some XP spending, because it basicaly gives you extra traits, skills and talents, AND +2 Tougness to legs and arms...?

Your suggestion of the back-banner giving some additional fixed Cohesion is a good one. 3CP is well worth 15 Req, to my mind, without being over-powered. That's essentially a 'free' furious charge / bolter assault per scenario, and -crucially- probably boosts your starting Cohesion up to double digits, which is really handy to help people get back into Squad Mode without having to pick up a d10 and make a test.
Yes, it makes sense right?

I will propose this to my GM, makes a balanced choice, and you can use your FP for other more relevant actions/events. It is not too powerful but a real booster for, for example my Techmarine which is otherwise not (perfectly)suitable to act as a Team Leader. Maybe we also could consider a +10 Fellowship bonus as well (instead of an increasing +1CP per Rank, as I suggested first)?

Concerning the Artificer Armour, the description says that it's master crafted - are the bonii of being master-crafted already taken into account in the table?
Good question!

The back banner is a very poor choice for requistion, as written. It certainly needs looking at, but the idea of gaining a point of cohesion any time anyone in the party spends fate is *way* overpowered. The rules are written to 'expect' the party to have access to maybe 10-20 FP a mission (starting amount, plus bonuses for objective completion). If you give them that plus another 15FP per session, it's going to be horribly unbalancing.
How can you get it to 10-20 FP plus 15 FP..., don't follow you. There is only for example in our team, 3x4 FP = 12 FP.
I don´t think it is overpowered to get one FP per spent, considered some mission may take a considerable time and different tacticts along the way. The Back Banner is a great roleplaying item as well, and boosts a lot of confidence in in Kill Team.
Maybe it would be better to give the Back Banner a Cohesion bonus, that varies with for example the Rank of the Kill team Member wearing it? How about +3CP and +1 for every 2 Ranks? Would that be sufficient and reasonable?

Oath of the Weapon - Three Steps (as I roleplay with my Techmarine when he is Kill Team Leader):
1. Praying in the The Forge in front of an altar dedicated to the Omnissiah, before a Mission starts:
How like a God He is, that ancient Machine, primal of all His Kind, the Imperator! His mighty Fists, massive like two Towers of Destruction, laden with the Doom of Mankind's bitter Foes. He watches over us now as Battle joins, and in his Shadow we shall advance upon our Enemies and defeat them.
2. Blessing of each individual Kill Team Brother for his weapons, armour and machinery, he brings on the mission (can be done in the Forge, or just before departure inside the ship's quarters):
''This machine is discharged into your care. Fight with this machine, and guard it from the shame of defeat. Serve this machine, as you would have fought it for you. (response) - I shall.''
4. Prayers for repair and maintenance (in case these have not be done yet, bless their souls)
a. ''Thus do we invoke the Machine God. Thus do we make whole that which was sundered.''
'b. 'Our enemies may rest but rust never sleeps.''
3. Prayers just before any major battle or Mission Objective to start:
''May your weapon be guarded against malfunction, as your soul is guarded from impurity. The Machine God watches over you. Unleash the weapons of war. Unleash the Deathdealer.'' If you want you can add: ''For the alien, nothing…'' (change to Xenos, Malleus, Hereticus, etc)
Words of Wisdom: ''In ancient times, men built wonders, laid claim to the stars and sought to better themselves for the good of all. But we are much wiser now.''

yep , its all 1:48 , and something you need to consider when buying other models , is that scales can vary a bit depending on who makes them , but for the most part , light or even medium tanks are gonna seem kinda smallish in the game because they were small by todays standards , and especially when compared to 40k scale tanks .
As long as the squad figures have a realistic possibility of actually fit into the vehicles, otherwise it looks a bit silly.
