  1. baggymacaw said: I have spent the evening trying to find books that fit in to the Tannhauser universe, and the closest thing to it is Hellboy. I am surprised that there just isn't more horror or fantasy written about Hitler and the occult. Katherine Kurtz wrote a couple, Llamas Night and Dagger Magic (both out of print.) Then there are the Hellboy books which seem to arise out of Tannhauser. Finally there is the Robert Harris novel, Fatherland and Phillip Roth's novel, The Plot Against America. Fatherland was made into a movie with Rutger Hauer, but it is simply an alternative history, and does not deal with the supernatural that Tannhauser does. Someone needs to write this book! I'll start it tomorrow. I've never read the Hellboy books but I guess the movies were Tannhauserish (yeah I'm aware that Tannhauserish is not a real word) another movie that comes to mind is Blood Creek. Blood Creek was released in 2009. It is about the Third Reich looking for occult artifacts, it's acctually a really good movie if you happen by it. More info here, if you're interested: www.imdb.com/title/tt0450336
  2. Adelaide,South Australia but moving to Brisbane, Australia in June.
  3. I've been living and playing AH in Adelaide, Australia for 5 years now and am now moving on to Brisbane (South) in about June. The issue is... I know no one in Brisbane let alone anyone that will play AH. If you play AH or Tannhauser and you are interested in adding an extra player to your games add me as a friend and we can organise a game once I'm settled in.
  4. I agree there are so many rules (not a bad thing) that you can occasionally skip out on rule. I wish I had a dollar for every time we have forgotten to use the rules on the GOO card or ongoing effects on Mythos cards!! But we have found using the scenarios has certainly made the game harder and a little more fun. It is a great game it's a shame that you haven't played it for a while.
  5. I've been playing AH for about 5 years now. I found that when you are playing 4-5 players that games take longer but if all players work together towards simply closing gates games at this size tend to only go for 2-3 hours. Our games take longer when players don't work together and follow their own agendas and/or don't cooperate. I haven't ever found a need to change or modify rules in order to make the game go faster.
  6. What awesome talent. I often wondered where FFG acquired such great art. My wife and I have been fans of H.P. Lovecraft and the Arkham Horror board game for years and we really can't wait for this game.
  7. I can't wait to get the official rules for how the institution rules will be played. I think they will be a refreshing addition to the base game and a good alternative to the Guardian Rules. I was never really a fan of the Guardians. Cards like Organised Crime will help enhance that nice 1920s feel that I love about this game.
