It only really benefits you if you have multiple cards that can be advanced and most corps, unless you're somehow advancing two agendas at once, won't have.

There is some ICE, assets and agendas that can be advanced. I played NBN backed up with some HAAS and Weyland cards and could use the shipment quite well. But then I played that just once…

As for the credits that's just good stuff happening…

But then it would make a zero cost operation quite powerful.

With similar runner cards we played so far that you can install two programs without spending clicks but still paying for them and I think that was even in the FAQ.

    I'll check that.

UPDATE Didn't find any information on either case (installing/advancing). So I'm intrested in how others would rule both cases…

Thanks for everyones opinion. Like many of you suggested playing both is gonna be a bit harder, but if i mantain netrunner as my main game, I might be able to keep up to date while in the back i try to catch up a little on Agot. I was hoping to see if the shift in the games would be big enough to pull me from one side or another but maybe i should just try to make the best out of both of them as many have suggested. Thanks.

I'd prefer Netrunner. At least up to now, there are not so many awkward situations and in-play discussion, timing questions, though this might change.

Keeping up on AGoT, I would say from my experience of buying two years worth of chapter packs, that I was overwhelmed by the number of cards and deckbuilding options. My advice: Don't buy everything in chronological order, but pick the chapter packs that provide game mechanics you like or focus on the houses you feel comfortable with. Cardgame DB is a good basis for a decision what to buy.

    My most humble opinion

You cannot.  Playing an event costs a click, and you cannot spend clicks during a run.

Actually you can spend clicks during a run (to break subroutines on some ICE). You CAN'T TAKE ACTIONS until the previous action is completely resolved and playing an event is an action…

    Cell Portal (#74)

Thanks for the replies. Then I guess it'd make an interesting combination with Cell Portal (#74).

Interesting? Yes! But hardly very powerful as cell portal is derezzed and quite expensive, so you could trigger matrix twice (if the runner doesn't break the subroutine) after that it's too expensive, trading four cred for one click. Thinking about it, I'm not even sure if I'd cut that deal even once (although their might be some nasty ICE installed in between Matrix and the Portal).

Although I have to admit that I've played only once so far (with Jinteki) and was always low on funds.

This needs to be clarified in the FAQ, but "cancel" abilities are the only things that can actually interrupt the game flow and happen before the triggering event.  Frodo won't be killed by damage unless you've already used his cancel ability that phase.

So I understand correctly, that I have to deal with that reaction as in the MtG stack (Last in first out)?

  7. I know this is the wrong thread but I wasn't able to find the answer to my query via forum-search:

Can someone give me a list of two mixed sphere starting decks out of one coreset box, which could be a starting point for further deckbuilding. My second coreset and some adventure packs are already ordered but I'm at a loss concerning deckbuilding. Seems more difficult than with MAGIC gui%C3%B1o.gif.

And by the way gratulations, I'm still working on the task...

Wow! What a gem this thread is! I'm in the same situation, stuck on Anduin with solo play. I only have one core set and have only been playing since Christmas, but this thread gave me some great ideas. The interesting thing is that I played some 4 player games when I first got it and we beat every single game and played all three scenarios from the core set. I'm playing solo now and it feels impossible! After reading this, though, I think I'll try Anduin again.

Wow, have you been playing with the standard decks of the coreset?

I tried Anduin thrice solo and twice with three players and the standard decks and closest I got to winning (that is I killed the troll) was in one solo game.

Yes, the ruling from the designer was that you use the original method of retreating for ranged attacks, i.e. the defender chooses one of the two hexes toward his/her side of the board.  Remember that adjacent can still be ranged, i.e. archers never trigger engagement tokens or get flanking bonuses.  I'm not certain if the designer clarified that case.  Hopefully, it will be in the next version of the FAQ/Errata.

I wasn't able to verify that. FAQ speaks of attacks in general, thus Nikator's way to deal with retreats (and my solution as well) seems to be appropriate.

My regular opponent and me have decided to introduce a tertiary direction of retreat as well. That is the last hex which moves the unit away from the attacker after primary and secondary directions are ruled out...

    Works quite fine.

  10. Just got the answer from Rob Kouba and that it'll be worthwhile posting it:

"1) If you attack that unit again then yes. You could choose not to
attack or attack the other unit in which case an engagement token may
    or may not be necessary.

    2) As stated on pg. 24 of the rules (well English rules anyway), the
roll technically determines the rank of the unit which then determines
    the base attack dice.

This is circumvented only if a Valor or Morale result is rolled.

Kennelmasters suffer from the ranged attack restrictions if using the
dog attack only when in a building as well as the forest (not specific
    to ranged attackers).

Thanks for the questions. I will probably throw that in the FAQ since
even veteran players seem to equate the Dogs of War roll with directly
    determining dice rather than rank."

I can't find this in the rules. When you order more then one unit with n order card do you move one unit, then attack with that unit, move next unit, attack with that unit? Or do move all units then attack with them all?

In the German rules it is quite clear:

First all units move in any order and then all units attack in any order (not necessarily the order of movement).

  12. I found a similar question in another thread but it wasn't answered to my satisfaction...

My unit pursues an enemy unit that had to retreat a hex. Now my unit is next to the original enemy and another enemy unit.

Question: Do I put an engagement token between me and the taget of the pursuit's attack (e.g. the originally targeted unit)?

And there comes another one: Do Kennelmasters' dogs suffer from the ranged attack restrictions (max. 2 dice)? On the one hand my (German) rulebook says something like "units using a ranged attack", on the other hand the dogs never have an actual 'attack die' to start with because it is determined by chance (die roll). Do I have to roll and then neglect everything that is above 2 dice (blue or red shields)?

    Thanks

Hahaha, I think he was meaning killing the Mad King.

I know quite a few people who think pushing Bran out the window was just as fine ;)

His chapters are so boring, but hopefully they'll get more interesting now that he is where he is and met whom he met.

Me being a teacher of English and wise beyond measure concerning the matter of literature sonrojado.gif, I have to say that Jaime in contrast to Robb is a round character. He developes quite a bit. And I like him, his relation to the other characters changes after his stay in the Tully dungeon and that seems to be somehow purgative (maybe because he's no longer under Cersei's evil influence).

When I mentioned to a friend of mine (who has just started reading the first book) that Jaime is one of my favorite characters, all I got was a ***** look from her. preocupado.gif

By the way, if one of you should by chance find out whether HBO is selling the Game Of Thrones series to Germany, please tell me. I'm afraid I will have to wait at least until book 7 is published (and that simply is no fun at all).

In my experience you can't name it "official". Sometimes you got satisfactory answer immedtiately. Mostly your question is ignored.

Thanks for the answers ktom and rogue. I feared as much and wanted to know if its worth the effort or if working with the forum is of more help...

In general, when you have lasting effects (including constant effects), you add all like modifiers together and apply the result to the character, location, etc. Order doesn't matter because each time you look at the character, location, etc., you start from scratch, adding the modifiers together. So whether it is "+1 - 1" or "-1 + 1," you get 0 as a modifier (leaving the card in its "natural" state). You do this no matter what is being modified - icons, STR, keywords, traits - pretty much anything that is gained or lost.

That would mean, a Tully character who had a military icon in the first place (even without the passive ability) would not lose its icon since it has now two (one by itself and the other from the passive effect) but only one is cancelled out.

I don't think, you can add icons like strength, but I agree that the icon gained would be lost while the card effect takes place.

OFF TOPIC...have you ever tried the official rules question support by ffg. How long does it take to get an answer and are they satifactory. I think asking them directly could well improve the published errata....

  16. Hi it's me again and sorry I have to make this brief...

I'm attacked by multiple characters in a military challenge. One attacker's text reads: defenders with lower power on them my not defend against this character.

Does that mean I may only defend with the one character that meets that prerequisite?

Our question is... if an opponent has another King's Landing location card in play, however it was played as an attachment to a House card, would that count towards controlling a King's Landing location for checking to see if the owner of King's Landing controls more King's Landing locations than each opponent?

    Example:
If I have King's Landing in play and my opponent has Queen Cersei's Chambers OR King Robert's Chambers in play as an attachment on their House card do I control more King's Landing locations?

We always played, that the card attached to the house card is no longer a location but turned into an attachment ('...you can play it as an ATTTACHMENT to your housecard,' and not ' you can attach the location to your housecard'.)

That would mean, that you have more King's landing locations, as the other two are King's landing attachments...right.
