At which point you take out boars and put in bears. If your argument is "PCs get better once they rank up, and the enemies that challenged them don't challenge them anymore", then yeah, I agree. I'm not throwing run-of-the-mill kobolds at 10th level PCs in D&D, either.

@omnicrone isn't saying "these things bloat the game enough already", they're saying "these blasted things are deadly enough already straight out of the book that you don't need to give them more tricks to keep your players on their toes."

Air isn't weak. It's just bottom of the barrel when it comes to kata (Thunderclap Strike is one **** of a saving grace, though), which skews a lot of perceptions. It has the best invocations and good-to-great Kiho and Shuji.

It's terrible in the sense D&D 5E Ranger is terrible. Can you make it work? Sure you can. But you can make it work better with a different chassis for much less work.

It's not... the best setup, to put it mildly, but you're probably not letting any ring fall too far down anyway. Losing 2-4 Endurance/Composure is probably not hurting you much, unless you're the only party frontliner. If you bring a Daidoji along, for instance, nobody will notice, especially if you Thunderclap your way into hampering the opposition.

A slight correction to @AK_Aramis explanation: if your armour soaks everything, there's nothing for you to defend against - you don't choose whether to defend or not (by paying a Void) until AFTER the armour soaks.

No. I'm paying 50 bucks for a book made by the biggest ****** gaming company there is (Asmodee), who certainly has the money to hire copy editors, so I'd like a decently reviewed product, thanks. They get passes on, say, the first Opp expenditure of CSS, or the Rising Cut oopsie, or both Iaijustu cuts and the throwing-weapon-kata-whatever-its-name-is giving a "divide by 0, please reboot universe" error if played as written, not on stuff like the curriculum tables, which have a clear error literally 2 lines apart.
Asmodee owns like 3/4 of the non-electronic gaming industry. Either we start asking for quality products now or we're SOL in 5 years.

Thank you! I was stubbornly looking for it on page 326, where you are referred to by the character creation chapter.

You guys know you can just take ad hoc Strife, right? That's... a thing that the rules explicitly say that you can do. Just say you go to the woods to meditate on how your ninjo keeps assassinating your giri or something and take all the strife you need.

Blood soaks your clothes, making them cling to your body. It's kami-descendant blood, so it's super-high in oxygen content, and that promotes quick rusting of armour.

Note that you can also pay a Void point whenever you take damage to take a crit instead of suffering fatigue.

Rising Blade now has a TN of 1 for Finishing Blows and Compromised targets (which it autocrits). That's not... not changes a thing.

'Eating up time' can certainly have consequences. Not in the cases we're positing, which are "when you have a couple of days of downtime", but mid-adventure "you spend a few hours going to a secluded spot in the woods and venting" is certainly putting you at a disadvantage versus the machinations of the adversaries, which continue apace. Interestingly, this should result in a further Honor (and possibly Glory) hit, because you're choosing yourself over your mission (breaching, AT LEAST, Duty).

Note that even if you would Unmask alone in the woods, you're still losing Honour, which is not dependent on anyone knowing about your breach of Bushido.

This is true of literally all "X Style" katas. I find the Water one particularly weird.

From what I could gather with a cursory read (I'm not GMing THIS time and I'm not Shinobi'ing, so the one thing I care about stealth right now is how to BREAK it), it's both: Fitness lets you move undetected, whereas skulduggery is to settle down undetected. You'd use Skulduggery to lay in wait for an ambush, and Fitness to move up to a target and shank them in the back.
Skulduggery apparently also lets you disappear while being observed (amid a crowd, for instance).

Yeah, feudal systems have an exactly zero survival rate if the peasantry starts getting into their heads that their betters are not, in fact, their betters (in Rokugan, their betters ARE, in fact, their betters, because they have more kami blood in them).
