    Thinking about playing

Hey everyone, As the title states, I'm thinking about getting into this game. Would the best starting point be the new Legacy starters and set? Or is there a better route into starting the game? Thanks for any and all recommendations. Matt PS. I live in Tokyo, Japan. How do I find people to play with in a place that FFG doesn't support with organized play?

Rallying the troops! Where is everyone from?

Tokyo, Japan. Hoping to find some players out here, as I've just moved.

Preferred order of the Haarlock Trilogy

Thanks very much Gregorius21778 and Laughing God. Really appreciate the quick response and help. Matt
  4. Hi, I'm about to start the Trilogy and wanted to know what other GMs' thoughts were. When my group reaches Rank 3 I plan on running them through Damned Cities, specifically because it doesn't seem to have a direct tie into Haarlock's legacy until later. I was then going to run them through House of Dust and Ash with Marr being interested in them after the events in Damned Cities. After escaping from the House I will have them kidnapped for Tattered Fates and then move on to Dead Stars. How does that sound in terms of the order of things? Would it be better to run House first? Please let me know what you think. Any and all advice is greatly appreciated, Matt
  5. Just wanted to say thank you for sharing those great first game tales. I am just getting into the game and it's really helpful to see how it went for everyone else. So thank you. A question for Kryyst: Did you start your game with just the Core Set, or did you add in other supplements? I'm trying to judge what I need to start with when I get my game going (I will probably have 4-5 players). Thanks, Matt

    Tinking about starting W:I

Thanks Toqtamish. I plan on watching the video and getting the core set, just to read the rules and look at the cards. Would anyone be willing to explain how the rest of the card sets work, i.e. what is an AP and what is a Battlepack? It is all very new to me. Matt
  7. Hi Everyone, So, I'm thinking about starting this game but I know next to nothing about it. I have been perusing the forum for the last day or two, and have done some basic research. My card game background is all ccg's: Magic, L5R, Call of Cthulhu, Star Wars, and Warhammer 40K. What can I say, I like card games I haven't played or collected one in years, but I am very intrigued by Invasion. The art is spectacular, it's not a ccg, I am very familiar with the world, and I like FFG's games. If I was to get into the game (and convince a friend to play with me), what would you recommend I buy? Also, what am I potentially getting myself into? Any and all responses are greatly appreciated. Matt
  8. Thank you for some really great advice and information. This is certainly one of the friendliest and helpful boards I have posted on. I have decided to pick up the Core Set and The Gathering Storm, that way I can learn the rules and have several adventures to run my group through. Unfortunately, the Adventurer's Toolkit seems to be out of stock at the moment, so that purchase will have to wait. Very excited and happy to be getting started with this game! Thanks for all the help. Matt
  9. Thanks again for all your input. Since myself and my group are very interested in playing sooner than later, I think I will pick up the Core Set (and another player will get one too, in order t have enough cards, dice, etc.) and the Gathering Storm to start with. A question though, is the Adventurer's Toolkit worth getting or should I wait for the upcoming Vault? Matt
  10. Thanks for the replies. Any recommendations on what I should start out with? I wanted to get more than the core so that I could start running something in the next month, for a group of 4 to 6 players. Matt
  11. Hi Everyone, I'm new to the forum and new to this game. I am seriously considering getting into what looks like an amazing game, but I wanted to hear opinions on what I should buy. Do I buy the Core Set, or should I wait for the release of the new hardcover books? Is this the right time to jump in and start, or should I delay (though the desire to purchase is very strong)? Any and all thoughts are greatly appreciated. Matt
